So the setup was completed:

And then this arrived tonight. I'm still waiting for the BMW rim and the LCD for the dashboard gauges.

Let me just say...night and day different than the CSR wheel/pedals. I hope I have no issues. Everything feels so well built and high end/quality.

It's quality stuff you have there. Take care of it and it will take care of you. :-)

Enjoy!

Well i've gotten a bit of use out of it tonight after installing everything. I updated to Firmware 37 right off the bat. So far I like it a lot. Pedals are so much better. Load cell is definitely the way to go.

I'm only trying to figure out why the 4-way directional on the right isn't working. The button and rotary work fine. Also left stick doesn't work, but I assume that is more for PS3 anyway.

If your trying in iracing the right 4 way isnt supported yet. The left stick is, but its kinda tricky. I had to first assign it for look left and right (must move it very slowly) then I could assign it to whatever I wanted.

I read about the 4-way. I'll give that left stick a try though. Thanks!

Very nice setup jimmy 👍

Rev lights do not work in GT5 because that game does not officially support Fanatec wheels and thus does not have the Fanatec SDK. Because of this you need to use PS3 mode, which means the Fanatec wheels emulate the Logitech G25, which does not have rev lights.
The G27 is not emulated because then you would lose the ability to use a sequential shifter in PS3 mode.

A stupid question, how engaging the reverse gear in GT5 with the rim BMW? Yesterday I was testing the CSW with BMW rim and got stuck in the wall. I'm using the latest firmware (37).

Ok, But I don´t have the Sequential or H-pattern shifter. I just use the paddle shifter BMW rim.

At 3.40 on the video it shows the button layout
And reverse depends on the game then, in GT5 trangle its the red button

I bet it's coming. It must be! That's awesome. :)

Just remember that there are also pictures of the shifter in the manual that comes with the CSW (probably the elite also). So Im not sure the picture means a lot about it being avaliable soon. Im sure at some point it will be avaliable. When? Thats anybodys guess.

Thomas said on the fanatec Facebook page that they will finish beta testing in January. So that probably means a March 2013 release.

We are not able to announce a release date for the CSS yet as the testing is not finished and we still do not know if there will be some bugs. But we are getting there and we fully focus on this product at the moment.

I've been thinking about getting a CSW but I'm interested to know what kind of GT5 FFB setting I should set without getting any of the "clipping" effects on the wheel. I usually play with everything on max but it sounds like this isn't such a good idea.

Or was this addressed in a firmware update of some kind?

Thanks guys!

No idea what the "clipping effect" is, but the CSW works normally with GT5. No strange effects. The only real negative is the weak vibration when going over rumble strips.

Ah, I was reading about something like that but maybe that only applies to PC games. From here http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=480531

Linear Force Explanation

This test uses progressive force feedback saturation values to check and see what effect they have on the wheel. The values between wheels should not be compared. What we're interested in is any effects that are clipping(flat lines in the graph). One thing I found is that with different FFB or Force setting on the CSW the wheel actually changes how steep the force curve is. There is a drawback. Up until this latest firmware with the GT Rim only the CSW was dropping/clipping values under 25% or so saturation. With the latest firmware this was improved to about 10-15%. The graph above shows relative values from the GT Rim, F1 Rim and a Porsche Wheel Turbo S, acting as control.

I asked Sean the Community manager about this and he said they were trying to eliminate some resistance around the center that pulled you out of the game and the only way to do so was clip some of the lowest FFB saturation values. I'm not a huge fan of this as we're missing out on some aspects of what the designers of a game (even if it's not realistic) intended and there is no option to avoid this behavior. If you are playing a game that is trying to mimic power steering in a car, you'll find yourself feeling like you're in an old wallowy cadillac, at least until this latest firmware. The good news is that the firmware is constantly evolving.

I just want to make sure I'm not "overworking" the wheel if I set FFB to 10 in GT5 (maybe not realistic but I like to feel the wheel lol).

Eh, I just realized that I'm asking two different things kind of lol. So yes, one is related to the clipping effect (which I don't know if it even exists anymore), if it does, what FFB should I set GT5 to get all the effects. If I choose to disregard that and I set FFB to maximum, are there any issues with overworking the wheel?

Basically when setting your wheel strength always set your onboard wheel FF setting to max.
Dial down unwanted strength via the game if available.
When adjusting the straight from the wheel certain effects may be clipped/dropped to adjust strength. Running your wheel at 100% ensures all effects are present.

That's my understanding of it from people cleverer than me lol.

Im wondering if Fanatec USA will be doing any shipping between Xmas and New Years or if Ill have to wait till after the New Year to get my formula rim.

Like every year, just a post to say Merry Christmas to Thomas and the team...
Some exciting games coming so no doubt Fanatec will be in good shape for 2013.
