Is the csl dd compatible with playstation if i buy a ps4 compatible wheel?
'PS4 compatible wheels' is not really the right way to say it, because all our wheels have this potential. The PlayStation security chip is located in the wheel base. Therefore any supported Fanatec steering wheel, including those which are Xbox-licensed, can be used on a PlayStation-compatible wheel base. This is why all our wheels are marked 'PS Ready'. The wheels specially made for PlayStation-licensed packages, e.g. the wheel from the 'Gran Turismo DD Pro', or the wheel from the 'Podium Racing Wheel F1', do not contain any electronics that activate PlayStation compatibility. It is always the wheel base in these packages that activates the compatibility.

Pretty sure that is going to be dependant on the API provided by the wheel manufacturer. They are the ones tuning drivers and firmware. The game is probably only sending FFB triggers generated by the game's code to the API and let it handle the rest of how it talks to the device.
Then in theory as the game's developer you'll never have to bother with fine tuning FFB for a specific device. At the most you'd have to update your code to account for API changes.

(I'm not a coder btw. - and my experience with game programmers is that they hack and hardcode a lot and then grow grey hair debugging their own botched solutions, ha!)
Each wheel manufacturer (and sometimes specific wheel) has its own SDK. It’s basically a way of taking the stuff the game says and translating that into things that happen on the wheel (and vice versa).

I’m not a coder either but I’ve worked with the wheel team at Codemasters.

I assume this base is the same as the CSL Elite PS4 in that if I have an Xbox compatible rim I can play with it on Xbox?

Yes that's correct. If you use an Xbox-licensed wheel with a PlayStation-licensed wheel base, everything that is connected to the base is compatible with Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

Oh yeah, I meant API as a component of an SDK. The API should be the part that's used for 'talking' to the wheel.

Excellent, when a stand-alone version finally becomes available I’m upgrading from my CSL Elite then :)

@DomB_Fanatec is it safe that the Premium Bundle will be available on March 14th?! At least for Pre Order Customers?
I pre ordered on February 11th.
Would be very kind of you if you could at least reply, no matter what the outcome of your answer might be :)

Only found this thread today after a couple of weeks with the wheel and didn’t realise there were recommended settings. Applied them and kind of astounded how different it feels. It’s more visceral, much more detail in the road and understeer isn’t as horribly stiff and annoying. I like those things. But it does feel a bit more rattly and loose. Hard to explain. Before with auto set it was like driving a Ford focus, now it’s like driving a go kart. An imperfect analogy but best I can do. I need to play around but I’ve got no idea really what everything does I just copy pasted, and with Gt7 coming Friday I’m not sure how that will react.

Come on @DomB_Fanatec, Thomas announced your plans to release the 8nm GT DD Pro wheelbase only option for 599.95 in the Black Friday blog back in November, surely you have sorted this out with PD and Sony by now :-)

Hey there,
I got the boost kit yesterday, is it normal that it has a "coil whine"-like sound the whole time?
It's not really noticable when game sound is there, as it's not loud, but it is noticable when the sound is off.

Got my DD yesterday. Put it through its paces in both ACC and GTS. It definitely feels better in ACC. It was better in GTS than my now old CSL elite belt driven base, but not by much. Like you said, once I plugged in the recommended settings, it felt a little unnatural. I tried Z28 gaming’s settings, and they felt good, but not quite the strength I was looking for. I’ll try the other settings that got posted tonight.

I think this base is going to shine on GT7, as I think that this wheelbase has a lot to do with the implementation of the new physics engine. Time will tell!!

Fanatec warehouse for at least Europe is in Hamburg. Products come the port and a carrier sends the products to customer directly. Saw much parcels last weeks because a friend of mine needed some spare parts because of defect product.

Im in America, and ordered the gt DD pro premium bundle on Feb 9th, just got an email from fanatec saying the load cell cargo ship from china has been delayed, thus the whole bundle has been delayed until April 7th. Guess the t-300 needs to hold up for one more month.

I think it’s the load cell that is causing the issues. I ordered the standard bundle beginning of feb and got it ten days later. On Reddit loads of people got the non load cell early while load cell orders are delayed into march. I’ve since ordered the load cell separately and there is perpetual delays.
