So one thing they (Fanatec) didn't mention is that when you attach the (mostly) plastic DD Pro to the Podium DD1 wheelbase it disables the Hi Torque mode eventhough it's plugged in : / FYI.

I saw that but I was confused that they are referring to QR1??? At any rate, I'm trying to tweak the settings on the DD Pro to match what I use with my other wheel rim. I run a slightly low FFB and based on the power output 8nm is right about where I'm at.

Speaking of QR1, I suggest everyone who has the plastic upgrade to one of these ASAP:

The Clubsport Quick release is a world apart from the plastic one. Snug, easy sure fit. Zero wobble, cracks & creaks. The whole rig now feels like a nice, solid, high quality piece of equipment.

Maybe with the base wheel you can get away with plastic, but if you get a CSL rim I highly recommend budgeting another $100 for the metal QR. When I order my load cell I am going to get another metal QR for my McLaren rim.

I originally really liked the QR lite especially after the original CSL QR with the bolt, but I have ordered a metal QR1 for my Mclaren wheel after mine started creaking lately, and my friend had noise and slipping issues on his McLaren wheel that we purchases at the same time. Also with a little googling I have found quite a few stories and photos of them failing and destroying the connecting pins.

I looked for this on the Fanatec website when I ordered my GT DD having picked up on it from a forum somewhere, but I couldn't find it!

This is a better quality mount between the wheel and the base, yes? And, it works with the GT DD, yes?

I will likely order it, can someone show me where it is on the Fanatec website please?

Normally at the bottom of the steering wheel page there is a sideway scrollable accesories section, it's in there.

Old age is not on my side..... I'm sure I looked in the sideways accessory section and I didn't see it, next time I'll try it with eyes open!
Thank you for the advice and link, I will go ahead and get one!

Thanks for the link and clearing up what the QR1 is. I had no idea it is the new name for the CS Quick Release, though I should've guessed, haha. I just ordered one up!

Is the locking pin essential when using the QR1 in this DD base?

Not a big deal but sort of negates the point of a “quick” release.

I couldn't find a definitive answer to that. I use it just in case. It takes like five seconds to unscrew and swap rims.

Is the McLaren GT3 something you can run on a permanent basis? I’ve ordered the GT DD pro bundle but also picked up the McLaren wheel with the QR1 release.

I’m not sure if I should also pick up another QR1 for the GT wheel as I will need to swap or if I can just run the McLaren wheel only.

I’m new to Fanatec and still setting for my DD Pro so just trying to get everything ready

The McLaren is only useful for GT and open wheel cars because they have a low DOR. For rally or road cars it's difficult to use because you have no rim to grab on to when rotating.

Now that I have two extra rims I am relegating the GT rim to either eBay or the storage room for use as a backup.

McLaren GT3 V2: ACC and GT7 Gr. 3 and above.

WRC rim: WRC 10 and GT7 Gr. 4 and below.

And, that's pretty much all I play anyway.

I want that M-Sport wheel but it's a Podium and will likely be big $$$. Couple that with my (future) sequential shifter and (currently owned) handbrake and I am in rally heaven.

Speaking of rally, has anyone tried the GT DD Pro with Richard Burns Rally?

Is there any advantage to the QR other than the bling factor? Does it make the whole contraption stiffer and provide better FFB?

Quite a few reports of the QR Lite breaking, and the one on my Mclaren wheel has starting to make creaking noises recently, I have ordered a metal QR1 as I really don't want to go back to my CSL P1 wheel :-)

My DD Pro wheel has quite an annoying creak on the left side while playing. It constantly creaks from the plastic cover on the left side while driving. Does any one else have this experience as well? The rest feels very solid but this is very distracting and seems to not match the high price.

Does GT output different FFB for different brand wheels? Like is there a fine tuning element to it under the hood to say optimize the feel and midigate for any mechanical loss that are inherent in lesser wheelbases?

Or is it maybe so that the FFB signal is the same with only two option inside GT regardless of brands, and then fanatec themselves have a tuning for their wheel? Im sure other brand wheelbases also do some interpreting to the signals.
Pretty sure that is going to be dependant on the API provided by the wheel manufacturer. They are the ones tuning drivers and firmware. The game is probably only sending FFB triggers generated by the game's code to the API and let it handle the rest of how it talks to the device.
Then in theory as the game's developer you'll never have to bother with fine tuning FFB for a specific device. At the most you'd have to update your code to account for API changes.

(I'm not a coder btw. - and my experience with game programmers is that they hack and hardcode a lot and then grow grey hair debugging their own botched solutions, ha!)

Could anyone out there who has the Fanatec GT DD help me out please?
I need to know the overall length with the wheel fitted.....
My current T-GT is approx. 330mm/13" and I'm hoping that the GT DD is about the same?
