I have a worrying development in my GT rim. Now that I have a WRC and McLaren rim I pretty much wasn't using it anymore, but my daughter wanted to try GT7 and didn't want to wear gloves so I put on the GT rim for her. We played many hours this weekend and I didn't want to be switching rims between sessions so between the two of us we probably put about 20hs of GT7 in. Yesterday afternoon I started experiencing a strange sensation when the wheel passes the center position while forces are being exerted. For example, you are in a turn and need to correct, so you do some opposite lock. While you are applying opposite lock you pass the center position with SAT resisting you. It's when it goes past the center position that there is a slight "thump". It's very hard to explain what it feels like but it's similar to the "thump" that the expansion joints in Tokyo Expressway give when you go over them. There is also a slight grain at times, similar to the feeling you would get from a gear-driven wheel.

Last night before bed I put in an hour with the WRC rim which has the Clubsport metal QR and it felt normal, I did not experience anything written above. I inspected the plastic QR lite on the GT rim and it looks OK. Getting a bit worried here. I have not tried the McLaren wheel because I am waiting for a second Clubsport QR before using it again. I distrust the plastic QR.

And while we're on the subject of wear and tear, does anyone know if the driveshaft needs to be continuously lubricated? I've noticed that it has gotten very easy to get the rims on and off whereas the first couple weeks I needed a lot of force.

I pulled the trigger 💦

So amazing they have the stand alone base already for sale! Even if it won't ship for awhile so much faster than with CSL Elite PS4. Hopefully manufacturing will finally pick back up again this year and they can have everything in stock soon.

And yes ideally we would just be able to have the same price as CSL DD 8nm, but that just isn't the world we live in, it isn't free for Fanatec to add PS compatibility to a base and it's a lot more than just "adding a security chip". Officially licensed console products have to go through validation for PS4 and PS5 with Sony and that isn't free. It would be amazing if Sony would just open up compatibility for connecting multiple USB input devices someday and behave more like PC in that regard.

Well, I always told myself if they released a standalone version, I would get it. Wasn't planning on it being this soon, but I did pull the trigger on it. Now to wait for it to come out in May, and hopefully not get delayed in the process. My CSW 2.0 which had been upgraded to a 2.5 by Fanatec, has served me well over the years.

Mate I am getting a slight thump as you described but mine sometime do it intermittingly I think, and it maybe something in the wheel settings that we have changed perhaps.

Maybe because of turning GT7 controller sensitivity down to -2?

The controller sensitivity I don't know if that effects the wheel or not, but that thump that you are talking about maybe it has to related to the NPD being off in the wheel setting.

I am an stock Fanatec settings. Didn't change anything except controller sensitivity. A couple hours before it started. Will try to experiment later in the week.

Controller sensitivity does work on the Fanatec wheel. Huge difference.

I am only noticing this on high powered cars Pfei, and low powered car it's all good on the wheel and no thump for me.

Just a question, is it necessary to upgrade to the latest firmware for both, Wheelbase and Pedals when I receive the Bundle?!
I don’t own a PC.
And what about the McLaren GT3 Rim.
Is an update necessary or will it work just fine?
I‘m a Plug and Play Type and don’t fancy this up to date firmware stuff.
I‘ll be playing Project Cars 2, GT7 and ACC, all on PS5.
Any Feedback would be highly appreciated :)

Can anyone tell me how to program in a deadzone for my old CSL elite load cell brake. For use in Gran Turismo 7

It should work fine, but if you run into compatibility issues, the first thing our support team will ask is whether you have updated everything to the latest firmware.

The requirement of having access to a PC to update your Fanatec gear is a real pain as they target the console player, many of whom will not have access to a PC. I would love to see Fanatec work with Sony to provide a PS4/PS5 app that can be used to update Fanatec firmware.

Or maybe a mobile app.

Mobile app could work, but more hassle for the developer (iOS / Android versions) and the user would need a USB cable that is compatible with both the socket on their phone and the USB-C on their DD.

@DomB_Fanatec Do you know of any plans to make the GT wheel available for this or the CSL Elite?

I don't want to buy the bundle as I don't need the pedals, and don't want to buy this wheelbase as I'd quite like the GT wheel.

I know exactly what you're referring to. I also have the mclaren wheel and have been using that for month but since gt7 came out I switched out to the gt wheel and it's almost like a bump/clunk/loud click which engages when you're turning quickly or bump into something - whenever the ffb is at peak basically.

I have the clubsport metal qr on the mclaren wheel and I have a feeling that's related, i.e the plastic qr on the gt wheel is causing the problem. If so I think fanatec should offer to replace the plastic qr as it's clearly a design defect in some (or all?) versions of this rim.

I don't plan on using the gt rim much as I find the dpad and coloured directional sticks horrible - my thrustmaster tgt dials by comparison are incredible, but it's the only round fanatec compatible rim I have at the moment and I don't like the idea of having to shell another 200/300 quid for a better replacement anytime soon.
