@DomB_Fanatec Do you know of any plans to make the GT wheel available for this or the CSL Elite?

I don't want to buy the bundle as I don't need the pedals, and don't want to buy this wheelbase as I'd quite like the GT wheel.
There seem to be a fair number of people upgrading their GT wheel to the MacLaren Gt 3 V2 wheel, so you could probably get the GT wheel from eBay fairly soon

Yup there should be lots of second-hand unused wheels out there as I imagine people were upgrading when the bundle was the only option.

Mobile app could work, but more hassle for the developer (iOS / Android versions) and the user would need a USB cable that is compatible with both the socket on their phone and the USB-C on their DD.
True, they would need Bluetooth to make it simple. I think publishing an app on PlayStation is a nightmare. There is no process for it, it needs to be a unique deal with Sony. I think on Xbox it isn't as bad, but still not as simple as on mobile.

The wheel feels great with the 5nm power supply.
I'm sorry I asked the question the wrong way. I meant, in order to get the 8nm torque output you should be able to hook up a non-Fanatec power supply. Was wondering if anybody tried this and succeeded?

Over here in Germany, we have eBay Kleinanzeigen, I think it’s called AllTrippers in the UK.
Its full of unused brand new GT Rims, People are dishing them out for 120~150€.
Edit: If you are interested, I could send you some links

All you fellas with wonderful DD Pro equipment and nice CSL pedal sets, should venture out and check out some racing leagues. Great camaraderie, clean racing, right here on GT Planet. Here’s one that I’m particularly fond that caters to all skill levels:
SNAIL Sunday Night American Interactive League. Can’t do Sunday? There are some awesome Friday night series, once per month: Porsche GT3 or Michelin Gr4 These 2 series set up hp & wt to make everyone hit pace. Success ballast to keep winners in check and wt concession if you finish beyond 10th.
By the way, all mentioned series above are on a rare 1 month hiatus (March) due to GT7 launch. So, do your “menu” homework and consider joining, unless it’s not legal in your area to have that much fun. Ha!

Sounds like just what I‘m after with GT7 online being so poor. The time difference would probably mean it wont work unfortunately

The requirement of having access to a PC to update your Fanatec gear is a real pain as they target the console player, many of whom will not have access to a PC. I would love to see Fanatec work with Sony to provide a PS4/PS5 app that can be used to update Fanatec firmware.
I feel the same way. I’m an apple guy, so I have no access to a PC. If Fanatec is going to start actively pursuing the Console market heavily, as apparent with the GT7 DD wheel (which is absolutely a brilliant alliance between them, Sony and PD btw), they need to put in the legwork of making it easier for us to update firmware/customize setups

I am also a Mac user, I installed a Windows partition on my old MacBook purely so i could perform software updates on my Fanatec kit

I had my say about the GT DD Pro rim on this thread, but actually it's my favourite rim now, once you get use to the button layout on the wheel. The wheel to me there is nothing wrong with it, when I am playing GT7 I don't even have to look to know where the buttons are on the wheel while I am looking at the TV.

If anyone has a GT DD Pro rim in Australia and they are not going to use the rim, I will be happy to buy the wheel rim.

Edit: There is someone selling a GT DD Pro wheel rim on ebay Australian site for $499 Australian dollars, but that seems a bit high in price you think.

It's probably not on Fanatec, but is there any chance that GT7 will provide better support for other Fanatec wheel rims/hubs? Other wheels in GT7 with the GT DD Pro base have actually even fewer buttons that can be set than in GT Sport.

That depends on PD. All devs have access to what they need from Fanatec's side. It's up to each individual dev how much compatibility they want to implement.

I'm new to sim racing and never owned a wheel before (except a cheap one back when I was a kid).

I was thinking about investing in a Fanatec GT DD Pro, but my main problem is that I don't have a lot of space. So I was wondering if anyone knows if the GT DD Pro does well when attached to a desk (in terms of stability)?

I would love to get a good cockpit, but I don't see that happening at the moment. There's some compact cockpits out there, but they either seem expensive for what you get, uncomfortable for long sessions or outright flimsy. But I'm open for suggestions if anyone has one.
You should be fine as long as the desk is sturdy.

I have a cheap knockoff wheel stand, and it works fine

I have seen a few videos on the topic, and it very much also depends on how sturdy is your desk. If you go with the 5Nm boost kit you should be mostly fine ,only problem is during more aggressive sessions (rally/drift). With 8Nm it becomes quite a bit more demanding on the desk.

I ended up opting for a Next Level Racing Wheel Stand DD

Thanks everyone! After a good night's sleep, I ordered the premium bundle. Really hope it will be worth it since it's a lot more than I initially wanted to spend on a wheel. 😅 Hopefully I'll be able to get a good cockpit in the future.
It is awesome, I also bought my first wheel for GT7. A wheelstand is an ok compromise if a cockpit is not an option.

Bootcamp's not possible on newer macbooks with apple silicon unfortunately, and i've seen posts about people bricking their csl bases attempting update through virtual machines like parallels so I wouldn't risk it. I'm considering getting a cheap windows laptop just to run the software but yeah, it seems short-sighted to cut off mac & linux users like this. Anyway my base works great and I don't see any huge reason to rush into updating it yet.

Same here. I started researching how to do it… but it was waaaaay to involved and a bit sketchy for me to do it. Hopefully Fanatec comes out with something for us console guys. CSL DD base for ACC, the rotary’s no longer work. I’m guessing it’s a software issue? @DomB_Fanatec. You got anything fine sir?

So... Just a quick update on what I think about GT7, now that I've tried all kinds of cars in different situations.

In GT Sport, i liked 30-60% FF. Anything beyond it felt pointless and slow. That's with 8 Nm.

In GT7, I need 100% to feel the edge where the suspension bottoms out, G-forces are at peak and my car starts sliding - the wheel goes from bumpy/lively to totally smooth. If I stay just a touch before that edge, the car is on rails and I don't get snap oversteer, which many have been whining about. The problem comes from people steering too much, because they don't feel that edge.
I can now drive fast and consistent with any car, without assists of course, thanks to this fine wheelbase, when using correct settings and understanding the FFB language. The physics are in my opinion perfect and the game is super fun, much much better than GT Sport.

So, Fanatec recommended settings, but NDP Off. Also, I increased INT to 6 to get a more rubbery feel instead of that harsh sensation - it doesn't affect FFB information, just feels nicer.

This evening my DD Pro seemed to have gotten a weird problem. During left/right or right/left corner combos, there sometimes was a weird "clunk" that I could feel right around when the wheel centered. Sometimes it's stronger and you can hear it, sometimes it's silent but you can still feel it a bit.
Any idea what could be the reason for this? I took the rim off and on but it's on tight and straight.

Along with this, in the past days the base also evolved a noise while turning the wheel, regardless if FF is involved or it's turned off. Sounds the same as here (not my video)

That snap oversteer to me I don't think it comes down to steering to much, because I am braking in a straight line the rear just wants to snap a bit for no reason. I don' think it should snap oversteer when braking in a straight line, and there is something wrong with the physics and we should talk about this in the GT7 physics thread.

Exactly what happened to me. But if I use the WRC rim with metal QR the thump is gone, but there is a bit of graininess around the center. Have to run a WRC 10 league rally this weekend so I can test it there and see if it something from GT7 or an overall issue developing.

Any reason other than the wheels to go with the Next Level Racing wheel stand DD over the 2.0 for the this wheel? Also, does anyone know if the chair wheel cradle can be remove from the 2.0?

Have you tried driving a heavy road coar on road tyres on bumpy roads full out? I have, professionally, for many many hours. It's intuitively so scary since the chassic wiggles around beneath you like soft rubber that most people back off. If they have simulated this fully realistic behaviour, but people can't feel it behind their screens (I can), and they push beyond that limit so the chassis becomes jelly and then they give a tad too much input on a bump - of course you're dead.
I still remember driving an old Saab 9-5 with like 250 HP, fully equipped with gear, and that thing was wiggling on every hard brake zone on back roads with a 70 km/h speed limit (braking from like 150-180 km/h).
So, yes, a car can indeed snap braking in a straight line if you're not mindful about bumps and suspension bottoming out. I laugh to myself when it happens in GT7 because it's done so well, and because I felt it coming but ignored it. I'm more careful when racing online of course so it doesn't happen there.

Several of us have mentioned this already in this thread, and on other forums including fanatec's own.

It seems to be an issue with the plastic QR as it doesn't happen with the metal QR lite.

Fanatec haven't responded to it, on their forums the response seems to be the default "send it in for RMA", which for us in the UK is a costly proposition. I'd rather they acknowledge the problem and send replacement qr lites to those affected.
