Awww, your F1 thread was shot down, bro! :D Personally, I don't get into F1 or NASCAR races because all the cars are pretty much the same. I remember when I was a kid how F1 cars had a lot more variety. Now, there are so many rules and Schumacher wins again and again with a huge gap between him and the 2nd place car. Boring.

NASCAR drivers also race Genericars which all have the same size engine and have nothing to do with the real-life machines they're supposed to represent. Monday nites at 9 est on ESPN Speed they're showing NASCAR races from the 60's and 70's. It's cool cuz you can see how different those cars handled the tracks without the aid of downforce. Who cares if hte cars nowadays are faster? I don't. They need to relax some of the rules in F1 and NASCAR, get some variety back. *gets off soap box*

Another cool thing about Monaco is the bay. I think that's why I found it easier to learn than Route 11...the water gives you a good reference to where you are on the track.

I feel you dawg. SSR11 rocks once you get the layout down. I been doing some practice runs on Complex sTring, too. Now THAT track is a trip!

yeah it is haha, i like the part with the big looping turns that slowly get bigger thats a good spot to test your car for over/understeer at diferent speeds 👍 and that long long strait.. *sigh* and that up n down bit is fun too hah

I love the slalom. I'm gonna use that Complex String Slalom now when I test GT3 cars....all you gotta do is go thru it as fast as you can and then look at the Analyzer afterwards, then take the lowest & highest speeds and you can get an average speed for that entire portion!

Anyways, back to GT2 b4 we get slapped

oh yeah! :banghead: i like red rock lately to see if i can cure that annoying car hop on the banked turns. iv noticed that the lighter the car is the harder it is.. and it seems to cause bad understeer if you completely lose the hop:guilty:

I know where you're talking about...that's the last corner, right? That's one of the only places you can drift on that track and yet they got those bumps there...makes it tricky! Especially in a GT40 or Lotus Elise or something.

yeah the lotuses need alot of time spent customizing the suspension in order to be fast and stable at the same time, especialy on the banked stuff

what car is it? I usually end up spinning in lighter MR.

just in general. no specific car.. anything MR usualy is worst, when the cars hops its easy to spin, but if you tweak the suspension to lose the hop, its so soft that i usualy understeer pretty bad on the other corners

My favourite track is the Laguna seca because its basicly more like a proper racing track plus it is also quite hard which makes it more challenging and more fun to race on.:) 👍

Tahiti (the paved one) - I think it has more personality than most other tracks. I wish they would have kept it in GT3 and GT4. I wish they would have kept Grindelwald and Rome Night too.

I got a question, What does RR means?Because i saw a Ruf with that transmition, obviously it's like a Fr, but i want to know the difference, Thanks.

RR=Rear Engine / Rear Drive...this means the engine drives the rear wheels and it is also mounted BEHIND the rear axle. In GT2, the only cars with this configuration are RUFS, the Subaru 360, and (I think) the Fiat 500R.

Just wanted to add: in the early 1900s when cars were still being developed, rear engines were used a lot more than they were now. An example would be the Tatra, but there are many more. Nowadays, Porsche is the only one who still makes rear engine / rear drive cars, mostly because of customer demand. Seems they designed some of their early sports cars (like the 911 and 914) back when Volkswagen Beetles were starting to get popular...40 years later, Porsche was literally stuck using this configuration even as some of their engineers wanted to get rid of it. A compromise has been struck; some of the latest 911-derived cars now have 4-wheel drive...but they still have a rear-engine! The good news is that after many years, Porsche (and in the game, Ruf) has perfected their suspension and chassis design so that these cars behave extremely well.

I drove a stock Yellowbird at Rome Night II and remember having more issues with understeer than I did with oversteer, matter of fact.

So, with this, it's like a Mid Chip (MR Rear Engine), it's the same thing,i think..

It's similar, but not the same. MR cars put their engine in front of the rear axle. In RR cars, the engine is behind the axle. Mid-engine cars are supposed to have (ideally) the best weight distribution as well as traction.

It is a pretty general topic, and its been 4 months, so I'll bump it.

My Favorite Tracks:

Grindelwald - I always forget about this place. For some reason it is only in GT2, and it is a shame. I would love to see the scenary significantly updated on a next-gen console, and Grindelwald is one the game's funnest courses. I love running Time Trials there in a GT40.

Seattle Circuit - It is obviously one of my favorites, if only for the fact I live there. But the Seattle Circuit is my favorite city track in the GT series, because it is such a fun course. Also the fact that with one small exception, this is all actual city streets makes it even better.

Red Rock Valley - A GT2 exclusive, this is one of the funnest tracks in the game. It is a fast course, and a hard one. The scenary isn't much to look at, but if they update this in a future GT game, I bet it will look a lot better. Also, here is where you can make $550,000 in under six minutes. :)

Midfield Raceway - Always a fun track in any game; this is my favorite GT course, period. It may be easy, but it has a great flow to it, and feels like a real race course. I remember when me and my brother had a best 14 of 27 tournament here.

Rome Night - A seldom raced-on course, it only appears in one Simulation Mode race, (Yes, it does appear, I remember it in a Renault Manufacture race, maybe Alfa Romeo, have to check) I consider it to be superior to Rome Regular, and like most people, I would love to see it in a future game.

So there is my first real post..... Hooray.

Where is this complex string in GT2? I think I have only found it in a manufacturer race.

Edit: Oh, I am familiar with the one in GT3, but it reminds me of a crazy course with all kinds of radical turns. Whatever the name of this course I have only seen it maybe 2-3 times and I think it was always in a manufacturer race. It seems much longer than any other track in the game. What GT2 track is this I am thinking about?

Yeah, I was talking bout GT3. Complex String is not in GT2. I'm not sure what course you're thinking of, actually.

Actually, Rome Nite can appear randomly in ANY manufacture's race. It also appears randomly in Event Generator races on the sim disc.

Oh? I thought all Manufacture's races were on a set course. Nevermind. And I frogot about the Race generator.

Thw only course i can think of that Stingray Man is talking about is Autumn Ring, which I think is GT2's longest track, and it isn't TOO common, Or Motorsports Land, which is the smallest, but has a layout that is most similar to Complex String...+

My favourite track is Grindlewald.
I think the track is a great test of a drivers skill (especiall the twisty bit at the beginning) and the scenery looks great.
I also enjoy Rome in all it's variations, with Rome night being my favourite of them.
I like to take the touring cars round all of these tracks. When you get the setup just right, you can really nail them.

It is a mystery how, after almost overimplementing Rome Circuit in GT3, PD took it out completely in GT4. I was never crazy about Rome Circuit, but I've always liked Rome Night.

I don't remember Green forest at all. Must be one of the rally courses that was removed.
