I'd like to enter....though I know I can't make the first race.

RETROCRX(retrocrx) - Blue (not sure which though)

Hopefully I will be able to make the remainder of the events but I can't make a 100% promise. If that isn't acceptable then I understand and will not be offended if you don't include me otherwise I'd be glad to give it a shot.

As for damage....I don't care, heavy or not......I don't tend to hit things anyway.

Uh this is the ONLY simulator on console. GT5 The real driving simulator. Its in the title. This is all we have for simulation racing. Sounds like you are more of the fun over realism player.

For someone using words like...joke, terrible, exaggerated, weak, inferior, you dont sound like your satisfied with this game. You must be using a controller.

Forza and GT are pretty comparable to each other for console sims, but DW is right - if you want pure sim, PC sims like Rfactor, iRacing, etc... are where it's at. Granted, for what it is, it is pretty decent and is something I'm more than happy with for now, especially with the DFGT wheel.

As far as heavy damage goes, I prefer to run that in the races I host, but I'm not about to force it on someone else's racing series.

you keep saying the word "Real" for some reason like automatic damage repairability is non fiction. i am going to have to back out unless heavy damage is on. The only people opposing it are obviously not clean drivers and I dont race with people like that.

I'm going to ask an honest question. Were you dropped on your head as a child? The series' that I run use light damage, and provide some of, if not the best racing on this forum.

Just stop trying. You're making a fool of yourself.

As for why I'm actually here, I kind of want to join, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I'd have to build and test the car out, and I already have a bunch of things on my plate.

(maybe if you joined the Camaro and/or Integra season 2 series' I'd be a bit more convinced :nervous:)

I couldn't sleep so I burned some calories getting a little practice in @ der DTM track.
Doing 1.31.6 ... more importantly I got the race distances figured and updated the OP.
The sprint will take ~15 min flat out, main event ~25 min and tires need to be taken care of or wear does become an issue at the end.
Pits are open but it's not mandatory to go in for tires.

Also; words to the wise. Practice ye cold tire standing starts. This car will leave a smokey #11 from idle with WOT.

Sign me up!!

Alien96 (El_Aliens69) - Colours - TBD

Glad to have you aboard. 👍
(you know you're just going to paint it gold)

Sounds like you need a bigger plate.
As for the bumblebees... I don't know how you did it but you manged to pick two of my least favorite cars in the world. :sly:

Is this a sim race or not? Everything in this thread is authentic besides damage what gives.

I drive with a group of experienced drivers and we ONLY drive with heavy damage with our SIM cars for the pure enjoyment of REALISM. Light damage is on when we race modified cars. We believe damage on produces a more white knuckle experience you just dont find with damage light.

If you wanna hold true to your realistic approach to this series i am highly recommending heavy damage.

ps how you gunna catch up to the leader if hes 15-20 seconds ahead, Heavy damage leaves that back door open to surprise where anything can happen, even on the last lap with a 30 second lead. Realism=Fun. Remember this is GT5 not NFS.

How about a poll?

You seem to be really bent outta shape over this. Calm down dude, it's just a game and a racing series that's meant to be fun. You're acting like you're about to go on a hunger strike or a murderous rampage if he doesn't change it to heavy damage. Relax.

So im goin to give this a try

psn gromus9696 - color silver (yes chrome)

i recently bought G27 and its strange that i find games you mentioned + another sims like lfs or gtr easier to handle than GT5 :) (and i still think that in gt5 should be hp restrictions and stuff for races like in good old gt2, as it is now its too easy)

This is weird, on the GTP iPad app, the whole bottom half of the original post is cut off. From "Race rules" down isnt showing up. Luckily it does if I view it in Safari. Very odd.

id be interested although TnJF i cant do the first race due to my being at Knockhill for the BTCC from the 2-4th of September...

You can skip a week without hurting your score.
Just let me know what color car you want.

wow, the poll's split. Interesting stuff. What about only using heavy damage at certain tracks like Monza to descrease crazy bump drafting? Compromise or are you going all or nothing?

Just throwing in my 2 cent idea.

I don't know that I can join, though I'd LOVE to, might I suggest simply not changing the oil?
Mileage doesn't rack up online, so it's not really an issue.

I voted for light for you though, I favor light only because that way the innocent don't get screwed out of the race by reckless/careless driving and/or plain old accidents that are bound to happen.

I actually like that. Would be a very fair compromise imo.

In online races now, you do get mileage on your cars. That was fixed in an early patch iirc.

Exact same reason I voted.

And yeah, I'll officially sign up. I'll get to building a car later.

Yeah, protecting the fun of the innocent is really my only problem with heavy damage. It's bad enough when someone bonks you off; but with heavy damage you then have to gimp around track and take the pit-penalty on-top.
Yes, that's how racing is... but this is just a video game and it's in our power to remove that added penalty and frustration from the victim.

For the practice race this weekend I'm thinking about running both for testing.
Light damage in the sprint, Heavy in the main.

This poll is hilariously even. 11:11 right now, and after cross referencing the poll with those who are actually registered as drivers... it's 6:6 with 3 people not voting.

Another interesting stat:

Out of the 5 drivers in the poll who are registered in the WSGTC, 4 of them voted for heavy (I was the only one who voted light)

EDIT: Finally bought the car, and I have to say, I'm really disappointed that I can't change/paint the wheels. Completely ruined the paint scheme I was going to go for (Matt Black from the Lexus LFA with Rosso Monza wheels).

Oh well. Colour is Nero Carbonio.

Wanted to be clear, will there be a mandatory pit stop for either of the 2 races?

pits are completely optional (added to the OP)

Yeah, leave it to Ferrari to keep you from changing the wheels. I thought that was rather silly also. At least the stock ones look good.

so what times is everyone getting? im getting low 32s but i think 31s maybe even 30s are possible...
