I've had something you could call a lonely race. After Qualifying, when I saw the lap times of Zeroduck and
@HEMIata: 2:01,xxx
it was clear to me that 3rd place would be my goal.
First laps of the race, I tried to keep up with the leading duo as good as I could and it went surprisingly well at the beginning. They did not reach those insane fast lap times they did in qualifying as they were battling for the lead and that costs time. When - I think it was Zeroduck - got away from HEMI, they both became faster and faster, so no chance for me.
While trying to keep up with the two in front of me, I had a good pace which put a nice gap between me and the 4th.
I started on RM and did not change that at first stop. I was lucky, less traffic and the drivers I've lapped behave absolutely cooperative. That's race etiquette at its best
When the rain was over, I didn't know what to do with only a few laps left and I think we all asked ourselves: stay out on the dry track or pit and change to slicks? I remembered what gurizzi posted a couple of days ago:
"The course can still build up rain puddles even if the surface is 0%"
I didn't want to risk a crash and there was no need to push hard, big gap between me and gurizzi behind me, so I decided to finish on W.
Lap times of 2:15 - 2:17 compared to 2:03 - 2:04 on slicks got me thinking this hasn't been my best decision this evening, but there was no going back. Finally I finished less than a minute behind Zeroduck and HEMI and 30 seconds in front of gurizzi. So I felt I got the best out of me with constant lap times and no crashes, what made me really happy.
Again, thanks to all who participated, best experience I've had with gt6 so far.
Looking forward to the next Cup, keep up the good work, gurizzi! 👍
