I've got to hand it to you for that.... :D

Yep, was a good finish, but he's no McFadden...

:dopey:

OK, now if you bring up McFadden, I will have an issue  As a Villa fan, my feelings on this run much deeper!!!!!!

Can we say Maloney instead and I'll be happy :D

(Actually, I don't really get the whole rivalry thing. As long as my Villa finish highest, I'm happy to see any of the midlands teams doing well, afterall, it's great for the area! Same with the whole England, Wales, Scotland and NI thing, of course I support England above all but I actually want all of them to do well to be honest)

Great Goal!👍

Let's hope there are a few more to come...:)

^^ i m suspect you a bit scary and support Brazil because you know if Brazil do a Draw or lose the macth it will be VERY HARD for portugal to play brazil and win for last match. :sly:

What superb technique, although a suspicion of handball. Lets hope it will really spark this game to life now!

EDIT: Hmmmmm maybe more than a suspicion there then :dunce:

France coach Raymond Domenech explained to the media why his team wasn't training on Sunday.

I don't pretend to know this game well enough to give much useful context here, but if something similar occurred during the NFL Playoffs, let's say, it'd be a HUGE 🤬 storm in the US sports media. Amazing development.

Wow, the ref saw the handball and pointed it out to Fabiano, but didn't call anything. I bet he's got 100 grand on Brazil. What bull.

Also, Evra should be stripped of his captaincy. What a loser. How can your team decide to punk out like that. The french are just a bunch of brats. No wonder that fitness coach guy was pissed and threw away his credentials.

That was samba football at its best, lets hope it means Kaka has finally woken up this tournament!

Looks like Elano's just walked (well hobbled really) down the tunnel. Good news as that could've been really nasty.

Wow really it's same in NFL ?
Explain me please.

Well the biggest sporting event here, that somewhat compares media coverage wise to the WC, is the NFL Playoffs (ending with the Super Bowl naturally). So let's say before one of the quarterfinal playoff games all the players for 1 team decided to revolt against the coaching staff and refused to practice. The media outlets here would turn it into a big, big deal. Therefore I can only imagine what a big deal this must be across the Atlantic.

I mean if something like this happened in the NFL playoffs I'd be speechless. I guess I'm just trying to wrap my head around this development by drawing a comparison to something I'm more familiar with.

If that were to happen to a team in the NFL, it would be a big deal in America. The British, Germans, Spanish and indeed the French, wouldn't really care. This is a big deal in France, presumably, but it's not that big of a story here in the UK.

It is a fairly big deal, although this whole thing with the French has been rumbling on for some time now so I guess it's not as big a surprise as it may have been had it been someone else. To put it in context, it would be like this happening before the NFL playoffs after a whole season of newspaper stories about disharmony in the squad, players publicly criticising the coach and one of the star players being sacked for having a blazing row with the coach.

Tree'd by Daan

Brazil are getting a bit careless here, another Ivory Coast goal in the next 5 mins will make it very interesting indeed!

Understood. If it wasn't related to the SB would it even be mentioned? ;)

Really. The players for a football super power, finalists 2 out of the past 3 WC's or whatever, out and out tell the coaching staff to go 🤬 themselves during the biggest single sporting competition on the planet. And the response of their rival countries is just "meh?" I'm not saying I don't believe you I'm just a little surprised is all.

Don't forget that we still need to win against North Korea tomorrow, if we want to fight for that 2nd place. I think Brazil winning against North Korea was quite beneficial to us, because it will force North Korea to open up and to risk more, since North Korea defends with 11 men in the back.
If we beat North Korea, I think we will be against Brazil's B-team or most of the B-team or even a more relaxed Brazil, so our chances of drawing or even a slight possibility of winning could be up front.

Yep, it was really a meh. Of course, it's a big thing for the French but in the neighborhood countries it was nothing more than a simple news coverage saying that one player revolted against the couch and was deported home.

After Portugal Ivory Coast Deco indirectly called the coach incompetent (witch is true). There was a some big fuss around it, but I don't think there was much of a fuss in neighborhood countries.

OK, That guy from the Ivory Coast should be sent off right now for cheating. That was nearly as bad as Rivaldo's 'get hit in the shin and hold my face' maneuver of before.

LMAO. Someone should make a gif of Keita running into Kaka.

*does the "I also have Didier Drogba in my fantasy team, and noticed quite a lot of the people ahead of me had Kaka in theirs" dance*

That must be rescinded - and I hope some action is taken against the Ivory Coast player... that ranks as the most ridiculous piece of simulation I've seen - utterly pathetic 👎
