David Perel's first impressions:

I am early in the stream but he doesn't seem to be too impressed with the ffb. But he seems to be really enjoying it.

Im enjoying the game but i cant find time attack or track leaderboards anywhere. I cant believe that a racing game wouldnt have leaderboards.

Also, i wish this had some sort of mechanical damage but that is missing also.

has anyone figured out how to save scape/replay photos to USB. i like to use them as PC wallpaper and in Sport you just pushed triangle to get the menu but.... not in 7?

The underlying concern is that even if you do grind you can be out-ground by someone else who then has 50 more hp to play with. If we get to at least two daily races with BOP enabled I'm fine, I have no issue working through the asinine part of the game if i have to in order to get here, but I don't think we will and it'll just be a never ending arms race.

The comment on "kids these days" is interesting, I am very middle aged and view this desire to graduate and be rewarded so you can move onto the next graduation is targeting more at teenagers than adults, its borderline infantile.

Yes there's ACC or I racing but that swings too hard the other way, you need to be seriously dedicated to compete. With GTS, one could boot up, play in a tight room, have superb racing that still needed skill to succeed and when it was done you could do it all again 10 minutes later. Just a magnificent concept for the time poor who love a good race. That market has now been abandoned.
It's not abandoned there will be BOP races it just will be a void (GTS servers still running though) for the next few weeks. Not to mention that there are other games like ACC if you want to race.

And getting to Menu book 9 is not that big of a deal you need to do 10 licenses and a few races most of the cars you can buy with your initial credits and you can buy a Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 cars as well for an 800 000 Cr. So you can ether buy 25 years version or spend additional 20 euro for credits and be ready to play online with enough resources to not grind anymore.

So overall if you are only interested in playing online with Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 cars you can. For me the biggest issue with GT Sport was that the selection of daily races was very strange you can have few weeks with very trashy races and then a week with all 3 races to be very good. And this for me with limited time was a real issue. My other issue with GTS was the fact that the Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 cars were not real some models never were Gr. 3 for example like the Mustang.

In GTS there was no campaign in the beginning and I myself am a busy person who don't have time to grind (though I do have coin so if I wish I will just buy credits with cash) but this GT Cafe thing is so carefully crafted designed so for someone that really enjoy GT (the real game not the online aspect) it's a beautiful experience. It's so good that I wish I can rerun some of the menu's just so I can try them with different cars etc. Good thing all the races stay open or at least most of them so you can revisit.

Regarding kids this days comment. I have Contra Collection on the PS5 and played a lot of Contra when I was a kid this was a hard to beat but beatable game. Now days we are complaining that we have to do a few races in a racing game to get to the racing :D There is also the aspect of youtube and googling for solutions. It's like using cheet codes when we were kids to beat some games. I really think that buying a game should be about spending some time with it and enjoying it not finding a way to criticise it all the way. And overall GT7 is brilliant game.

This is quite rude. I work hard for every penny I have and have been given nothing from my parents other than an honest upbringing and good manners. Those of us that have a desire for the sport style races have been very acknowledging of how gt7 serves it market and we understand that the game may not be for us.
It wasn't pointed at you and I think in time the sport style races will be back they pointed out that a test championship is starting at the end of March. And Daily Race C (Gr. 3 one) is going live on 14th of March so it's just super early in the game for full fledged online experience. Not enough players bought the game on pre-order it seams.

The only way at present is to go to Gran Turismo website, access you account, open required image in new tab, save as a .jpg file (not web), open in paint, then save as genuine jpg file....like I have done here:

I understand the point but one gr3 car fully upgraded (which it will have to be for open tuned race) is going to use up that 800k, maybe even more. That’s just for one car. If you want a good selection of gr3 and gr4 cars - maybe 4 of each (which is still very meagre) you’re looking at many millions of credits or hundreds of real money. For myself and Neville and other like us who only want to race online I’m sure you can see why we have an issue with this arrangement. For everyone else the single player is the game, for us it’s just a means to an end and we’d skip it entirely if we could. I’ve just added a couple more hours today and I’m reading none of the text, none of the car history stuff, the scape challenge I just clicked until I took a photo of whatever they gave me so I could get rid of it. Yes, I’m basically wanting to play a game that doesn’t exist anymore.

So I've been playing it for quite a few hours now and I gotta say, apart from a few small things I don't like, I believe this is the best GT game ever. 👌 While the classic GT experience is definitely there again, they did go in a different direction with the GT Cafe basically creating some sort of story line and I really like that. While it takes a while to unlock everything that you want, it's a very enjoyable experience. Once the tuning shop and GT Auto opens up, that's where the real fun starts though! 😁 I knew we'd be getting car customization back again finally but I had no idea it would be this big with so many different parts to choose from. And not just for a few cars either, every car I've tried so far has had the options for a lot parts and wide body. Going to be spending so much time tuning/modifying cars! Not sure if I even have time to race them. 😅

Physics have definitely changed and for me it's a welcome change. At least for FWD and AWD cars, they feel really good. RWD however.. I feel like something's quite a bit off. The tiniest bit of throttle in a corner and the car just spins out right away, very difficult to control. So I'm hoping that's just a bug or something and will be fixed soon. Cause that's definitely not right.

Then the weather system, I was really blown away by it! The rain and wet track is just so well done. Loved how visibility was quite bad being behind another car, just as it should be. This forces you to drive different lines, which is better in the wet anyway. Definitely a lot of fun, think I'll be driving in the wet quite often in this game. I used to avoid this as much as possible in previous GT games.

Main negative thing for me has got to be the AI. Was expecting it to be a step up from GT Sport but it definitely isn't. Races against the AI are still the same as before, basically start at the back and catch the rabbit before the laps run out. That's not what I call racing. But at least we know they're working on it with Sophy. I can't wait!

Alright, back to it again. 😉

I'm guessing Gr.3 and Gr. 4 races will be BoP not open tuned. Regarding Scapes sure this is not my cup of tea as well so I did like you. But for other parts the GT Cafe is not only a car history experience but also a GT History experience some races are direct copies from old games and that's what make them so grate. You are supposed to have played this games to understand it though. And I guess normal racing will return on 14 of March so just play the game till then and consider it pre-season maybe get a few credits in mean time not that hard. Also if they make you buy slicks this would be super cool and a lot of people will realise that tires is the single biggest expense in racing. And it's not that it doesn't exist anymore GTS was also hard at the beginning when you didn't have all the Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 cars to be fair I still have a few of this missing.

Yeah I’ll grind it to the 14th and see what that brings. I really hope they make it BoP but I suspect they’re waiting so people have enough time to earn enough to be able to do the upgrading. With sport the only single player I did was driving school and about a third of the missions. I always had enough to buy any car I needed through just online racing. I only buy cars I’ll need for a race. No interest in collecting them or anything.

Been playing for roughly 6hrs now and I gotta say it's pretty interesting. There's enough in it at this point to keep me occupied. Although I do wonder how many of those "menu book" we'll be completing before it's done. I'm going to try focusing on the licenses (always so much fun and sometimes so frustrating too 😂) for a bit and see if I can gold them all.

The customization aspect is pretty cool. I've only done 2 cars so far and I can see this been a money pit for sure, all the while knowing that money is hard to come buy unless you fall for the microtransaction which I'm not fan of. I notice tuning is back in the dailies...I hope that's just for the regular cars and not for the Gr.4, 3, 2 and 1 races. I may be wrong but I think GT Sport had tuning in the dailies as well at the beginning before they changed it and just put BoP in place instead which I like better anyway. I guess we shall see how it all play out.

Right now, there's not much in terms of negative for me. I'm trying to keep an open and see how the game will evolve. In the meantime, I'll keep working on my wallet, my car collection and my skills which haven't been polished in a long time because I had stopped playing GT Sport.

Edit: I hated Alsace as a track and my gosh I still very much hate that track! 😒

I got the 3 cars so my licence tests unlocked thanks to help from here, I Thank You 👍
Now I am on Easy and doing the B-Licence I got as far as B-8 Cornering and got Bronze on that but now on B-9 I sadly cannot get any where near after over an hour of trying, I think my days of GT have come to an end, age has caught up with me and my reactions are just to slow. I cannot keep the car on the track and when I slow down so I can my time is a couple of seconds away from Bronze.
Lets be honest here I love the game but if I am struggling on B Licence on easy there is no chance I am going to be able to get very far at all.
The game GT7 is brilliant lovely graphics brilliant game play and I am sure it will bring hours of joy to the masses Good luck to you all.
My son is 8 so time I hand over the console and game and retire gracefully.

Over and Out
Enjoy yourselves now.
One thing that has helped me get all golds in the first 3 licences is watching the demo before you start the test. It will give you a great indication of where to stsrt braking etc. The demo video also is the time for gold so if your content with a bronze you can brake that fraction earlier than the test suggest. Dont give up man. You've got this 🤜🤛

THIS IS A KNOWN BUG THAT PD IS ADDRESSING...

As for Sport and the daily race A, I find that you should buy a customizable transmission where you can adjust the gearing for High Speed Ring, that seems to be how I got closer to winning, it is like said above, you know who tuned their cars and who didn't...

First impressions - disappointed ...

There is no sense of achievement in this game.
I get told to go collect some cars. Great, I think, let me go have a look at what they cost and how much I need to save to get them.

But no, just go do a 2 lap race where I only have to finish 3rd and the car gets given to me! Then go back to the cafe and get congratulated on 'collecting' the cars, only to have to do it again and again.

Apart from my 1st car, I've not had to buy another one and I have almost 30 in my garage. They mean nothing to me as I've not had to work hard for them.

Im enjoying the game but i cant find time attack or track leaderboards anywhere. I cant believe that a racing game wouldnt have leaderboards.

Also, i wish this had some sort of mechanical damage but that is missing also.
Go to world circuits, and in each track there are a few options for track experience, time attack, custom race and so forth. Leaderboards are there when you go into time attack (or time trial, can't remember which is used).

Further impressions....

Unlocked Driving Missions today and was so happy to see them, feels like GT4 updated to today's standards.
I'm certainly seeing polarised opinions so far about the game, but for me it is a joy to behold. 50 license tests - I absolutely love doing license tests - will keep me busy for a long time, all those driving missions, loads of races, all my favourite cars and tracks... even if I complete all the main game races I can create infinite custom races to my heart's content.

I am not remotely disappointed by the game so far, it has immediately grabbed my attention for the first time since GT4 (which imo remains the series' pinnacle until now). GT5 and 6 were farcical, GTS didn't suit a "single player only" gamer like me so it's been a long time since I was happy with GT.
This really is outstanding.

Minor gripes...

Yeah the hand-holding seems unnecessary, but fair enough. I'm still working my way through it happily.
Rolling starts - I can scratch that itch with custom races anyway.

I hope they fix the bug some of us are having where the cafe menu won't go pass the first menu.

Hi all!

I've been playing and enjoying gt7 since Wednesday

I have a question regarding the 25th anniversary disc:

As you may know, it was supposed to contain FOUR cars.

My package only had a single code to redeem, and I only got the ...yaris
Not the porsche 917, not the supra gt500, nor the gt3 concept.

Anyone knows what's the deal here?

cheers!

I got Standard Edition and the code those three cars was emailed to me by the website I ordered from.

It's been an interesting challenge for me so far, fun but often times just plain frustrating too.

One things that is really throwing me off is some of the real life tracks feel out of proportion and oddly compacted to me, Spa and Monza for example. Its really messing with my breaking points and muscle memory that I have built up in GT Sport and used successfully in other racing games like ACC among others.

I might just have to try to ignore my instincts and just get used to the GT7 way of things but it sure is frustrating at times.

I own 2017 Mustang GT and a racing suspension is easy 2500$ so is in the game around 2500 credits and this doesn't include all the bolts that you need or a shop install charge. Next good racing air filter is easy 300-500$ without a tune and this days ECU tune goes for 800-1000$ so yeah I think prices in the tuning shop are very real and you don't have to wait for parts which is another huge issue this days. Overall much enjoyable tuning experience then IRL and really realistic easy to go broke tuning that VW Beetle.
I dunno... I'm partially in agreement with you- not everything is overpriced so to speak, especially when taking into account the convenience of having these things available on-demand, but 15,000 for a turbo kit? 20,000+ for racing slicks? 15,000+ for weight reduction? Seems a little out there. While I'm quite aware that this is only a game, I do want to point out that they went out of their way to make a bunch of other things realistic, not to mention this game is a self-proclaimed "simulator".

Maybe that has something to do with FOV?

I am enjoying the seventh installment so far. I pre-ordered it from the Playstation Store and it took four hours or so to fully download. Bought an additional 250,000 credits afterward. All pre-orders came with a special three car pack. One of the cars included is a race tuned version of the Toyota Supra.

So far, I have experienced one bug, though. I was working on one of the races for the National A license and as soon as I crossed the finish line, the game completely locked up and froze. It was a real bummer too because the moment that happened, I actually beat the Gold time, but because the game froze the moment my front end touched the finish line, I wasn't given credit for it. I ended up loading another game to force close GT7 and then reloaded GT7 after that. Since then, it's been running fine. It appears that Polyphony is aware of some other issues currently going on as I noticed a headline the other day that said something like "Issues (March 4th)" on the bottom of the screen. Has anybody else experienced an issue like this?

No bumper cam ..are you serious?

Another delusional GT .... So my decision to postpone buying the game is right ..

IR
There is bumper cam, but PD changed the fov vs GT Sport. Tracks look too wide and stretched out into the horizon. When you pass a car they seem to stretch, longer than they should be. It all looks very weird. I could hardly tell where I was on the Nordschleife and I have about 5,000 laps there in GT Sport alone... The pov also seemed higher, however I haven't been able to afford a GR.3 car yet 🤣

I'm going to use my anniversary codes tonight to buy the Lexus RC F and make some comparison shots. Why does it all feel so off :/

I think you misunderstood what you get with the 25th edition. You get the Yaris,1000000 credits and steel book.
The other 3 cars you mention are preorder cars, with an extra 100000 credits. You get them by preordering any version,I believe a code is emailed to you from whoever you bought it from.Somebody may know more,I bought digitally.👍

Yesterday the Share button wasn't working for me, now it is. So keep trying it and you might get lucky!

Why are people are complaining about GT7 when GTS is still functioning and available to use?
Some of the stuff people have a problem with, I don’t agree with it all however if I just bought the newer version of a game I would be upset If I had to go back and play the older version. That’s just me.

Aside from having to suffer through music rally for 3 hours while waiting for a 90GB download... Loving it.

Compared to GT Sport the graphics are better, sound is better, the physics are better (including the way grip falls away and the car transitions into oversteer or understeer) and dare I say it, the AI is a lot better. The whole experience feel polished.

Wish I could just dive into any track in any car, but I guess that's part of the GT experience. Either way, PD has nailed it
What system are you playing on?
