FITT 535PP FR Tuner Challenge

Ok, that makes me feel a little more confident being on par with that. I'm in the very high 1:11's, (1:11.945) but I haven't touched the Camber or TOE yet. With "S" hitting the fan with work, I'm finding it difficult to even get a solid/non-interupted hour of testing in. I'm sure I'm not the only one!

1; 11.495 this time, promises to be one of the best:tup:

Splendid, thank you Gentlemen. Looks like my car should be reasonably quick then. I'll run a few more laps with SS tyres tonight, and hopefully get down into the 1:11s...

I'll see what my schedule is like by the time the tunes start rolling in, but it looks like a real interesting list of cars and if I have time I'll test drive.

Don't worry, I've only just broken 1:14. I think my best so far was 1:13.97x.

I can't get more than 5 laps in before getting too competitive with my ghost and crashing. I must've done 4 chassis refits in 250 miles.

I was thinking the same thing. As soon as I think that I am starting to get faster at driving in this game, these guys start talking about laps under 1:11.5.

1:11.5 is pretty floppin quick. After changing suspensions to something less aggressive I'm at 1:11.742, still need Camber & TOE figured out. What's DC? Yes, I'm a noob when it comes to terms, I apologize.

I'm sure you'll get that easy Cy. Quick dumb question...anyone else tuning using automatic transmission?:dunce:
I'm tuning automatic, as always. I'm too old and lazy to get a wheel or run manual :mischievous:

Be good if you find the time, Sir 👍
1.11's? Well that's worrying. DC it is then.
Xande is part alien, don't forget, they build them fast in Brasil. Factoring differences in cars, I don't expect to see too different times between us.

Even after having run just a few laps on SS tyres, I've still got to find 0.5 to break into the 1:11s, so don't sweat it yet. Provided you've got your entry speeds and lines sorted, the rest will be down to pure straight line speed. Great choice of track, Sir.

I can't tell you how much paint I've left on the armco..!! :sly:

DC is Driver's Choice. Your car doesn't have to be the fastest to pick up points. If it drives like a dream, then you'll be in with a chance at an award 👍

Regarding times in general, I got distracted by hosting a 450PP SH lobby last night. It was quiet to start with. I broke out the VWs and Audis, love them cars. Eventually a guy I'd seen before joined and got out his 111R and the times dropped dramatically, shortly after that a bunch of other guys joined and it turned into a 111R Love In!! My Golfs and TTs will run 8:00 laps in my hands and without draft. Drafting I can get it under, ran a few high 7:50s, pretty pleased with myself. Then these guys start dropping 7:49s, then 7:47s and I'm sure there was a 7:44 landed..!! Obscene times. One of the guys was a GTPer, daysofwar2009 was his PSN, he did tell me his GTP ID, but I'm old and can't remember (sorry). So don't worry if people are throwing scary times around, not all drivers are created equally :sly:

That's a relief...thinking I was the old-timer of the bunch.:nervous: I wish I had more time from work to be a tester on this one. It'd be a blast. I'm still struggling to find time to watch the Nascar race recorded from this last weekend...

I will get a wheel + pedals setup at some point, but I've got too much building work to do around the place first.

NASCAR..?!?! It was Touring Cars at the weekend, 7 hours of crazy, rain soaked racing at Rockingham Speedway. Not only do they show the TCs, you get to watch the Clio Cups, Junior Ginettas, Porsche GTs, all sorts. Shame my Wife had to work and all I could do was slob on the sofa :sly:

Sounds like things are hotting up.

Looking forward to trying out these cars - I've got the TV booked for a few sessions next week :dopey:. I'm going use my old wheel for more consistency but I think I'm going to need some practice at Rome first :ouch:.

I plan to attempt using wheel and pedals once GT6 gets going. Gotta buy the kiddies their xmas gifts before I can get mine. Yeah, Nascar...good memories from the states. I watched the Juniors race, but too many commercials between races to keep me interested.

I'll not reveal anything..... even under torture :nervous: !!

Time ???? Let's say that with 1'11.500 , you need to get closer to read my plate numbers .:)👍:dunce:

But it's a secret !!

Who let Mr. Tune, himself, get the over-dog? Actually, with Praiano, I don't think it would matter...darn Brazilians!

:grumpy:I'm going to have to trigger the secret service of the U.S.A to figure out how to get 1; I 1; 11eu 10,736 with racing tire

Haha , no overdog at all, just a fast car that i just let faster, there are some few in the list. Nobody take the vanquish also, a great fast car at this PP, and for sure it could be a DC pretendant , it drive so smooth....
I just like to drive at Rome, did some event here also, i know all the tricks there. The most important is the "half chicane" right turn down the oposit straight.
Just don't et the car upset and put your front right wheel inside the apex, between the kerb and wall. Must be soft coming over the wall at the out corner and full gas when grip and line are OK. You can gain a lot there.
Good luck everybody.

Thank you, Master! ;)

I have run a 1:11.455, but only one. And lots of 1:11.8 and .9 and 1:12.0s.

Thanks for keeping the cars secret. I think that will be really fun (for all of you since I know all of the cars). Once test driving starts, I think we should have a guessing game to see if you can match the cars with the tuners.

Tidy lap time, I should really stop messing around with 450PP things and get back to this.

I'm not even going to look at the setup on the cars, I'm just going to take the keys, drive the wing mirrors off them and hand the keys back. Not saying I could do it with everyone, but there's a few tuners here that I'd like to think I could spot just from the car setup. I'll see if I can make an educated guess from how they drive :mischievous:
Well I'm nowhere near you guys. Best is low 1.13's. Oh 🤬.
Slip on some SH tyres and run it for about 50 laps, testing and tuning as you go. After that, slip on the SS tyres and I'm sure you'll see a drop in times.

Along with Mr Fish's advise (love that corner, one of my favourites), the two big double apexes at either end of the start/finish straight can be worth a bucket load of time. For me it's resisting the urge to apply the power too soon, just hold, wait and when you're absolutely sure you're clear, nail it...

I'm going to borrow that idea, it sounds like a good one! I'll have some free time tomorrow to run that many laps....I'm still stuck on the 1:11.5's :grumpy:

I think that's a good idea. I've got one guess that I know is absolutely right, but that's because it's my pick. Then I've got about 2-3 other guesses I'm reasonably confident about.

edit: I'd also like the option to turn off the ghost for practice mode. Sometimes I just want to drive around a track and it's in the way (certain color/ lighting combos). Other times I want to try different lines through a corner and I end up trying to get past it. And most of the time it's just annoying.

I always turn off the ghost. On the wheel I set up the ghost toggle button. I think you can add it to the DS3 too. It helps because it gets the ghost vehicle out of the way if it is slightly in front of you and allows for you to concentrate on the road ahead. It stays on in the track map so you can glance down on the straight bits and see if you are beating the ghost or not.

Cool, thanks guys! 👍

How much of the green on the outside of the last double right hander are you guys using? I was way behind my last best time and came in too fast and made up about .2 secs on that and ended up getting .4 secs faster than my previous best lap. I had been penalizing myself on those (more than 2 tires over the rumble strip) by letting the ghost pass me so I wouldn't post that lap as the fastest.

another edit: I found so far with the car I'm tuning that I'm about a half-second faster on SH tires with more power and heavier vs. less power and lighter. I also haven't broken in the car that doesn't have weight mods added to it. I did start tuning with a car that had some weight red. and I could do any parts combo and end up with the same hp/tq figures, except when I used only titanium racing exhaust, when I had almost the same power figures, only 5 less hp, and 5 more ft-lb/torque. The only difference I found was oh-so-much slightly less wheelspin on corner exit.

and more edits still!: I tried out the CLK 55 AMG '00 because it popped up in my UCD and I liked the "muscle car-like exhaust" in the description...let's just say I wasn't disappointed, one of the best sounding cars I've tried so far.

Just no wall bouncing. On the last two corners, there is space to put the full car between the outside curb and the wall. I didn't find it to be faster than all four wheels inside the curbing. If the car is too low, it will get really unsettled with two wheels over the curbing.

I guess I don't see any issues with using all of that space during testing if you do the same thing with all cars. We'll just need to be honest about no wall bouncing.

That was just news about how nice the car sounds. I'm sticking with my original choice. No matter how much the sound made me want to change my mind:drool:
