FITT 535PP FR Tuner Challenge

Thanks for keeping the cars secret. I think that will be really fun (for all of you since I know all of the cars). Once test driving starts, I think we should have a guessing game to see if you can match the cars with the tuners.

If we start guessing, that would give DigitalBaka and a few other math gurus the chance to figure out the list by process of elimination?!?! Unless we send a PM with our guesses to you Hami...although you are probably getting more than your fair share of them at the moment.

I did a bit of practice last night as I haven't been on Rome for a while. Best was 1:13.18 in a 533pp car (from the list) of my own setup and DS3. So with a good car, wheel, and a few more laps I shouldn't be too far out of the ball-park!

How much of the green on the outside of the last double right hander are you guys using? I was way behind my last best time and came in too fast and made up about .2 secs on that and ended up getting .4 secs faster than my previous best lap. I had been penalizing myself on those (more than 2 tires over the rumble strip) by letting the ghost pass me so I wouldn't post that lap as the fastest.

Just no wall bouncing. On the last two corners, there is space to put the full car between the outside curb and the wall. I didn't find it to be faster than all four wheels inside the curbing. If the car is too low, it will get really unsettled with two wheels over the curbing.

I guess I don't see any issues with using all of that space during testing if you do the same thing with all cars. We'll just need to be honest about no wall bouncing.

Didn't catch the green last night, but in the past I'm sure I've found a distinct lack of grip on that green section. If I run wide, it is usually in the reverse direction - I don't often hit it in forward. As Hami says you can really unsettle the car on the curb, especially if it has a firm setup. I will be staying inside!

I am, however, convinced Dick Dastardly has got a giant electro-magnet hidden behind the blue barrier on the approach to the final double right-hander :dunce:.

The green section on the last right-right has distinctly less grip than the track. Also going over the rumble strip to use it is pretty hazardous in itself, I've become trapped on it before which ruins entry onto the final straight.

I just entered the turns too fast and had to slow down in the green section. I ended up leaving onto the straight with more grip/ speed so it made a little difference in my times.

On Tuesday night I could barely break into a 1:12.9 with my best tune. Last night I didn't drive anything over 1:12.8. Sadly, went back to a tune closer to stock and went faster. I give up. GT5 tuning makes no sense at all.

I just experienced the same issue. I had to use up another car thinking it might have been the mileage...or the chassis refurbish/oil change. Can't figure it out either, back up into the 1:11.9's

Make it three. I was trying to tune up a trans and couldn't find anything faster than the box it came with. Good news is I won't get the obnoxious transmission sound. 👍

We should be able to guess which one is yours then

Sounds like some of you guys are finding Rome/car combo a challenge. It's certainly a tricky course but I'm looking forward to trying out the range of machines 👍.

Nobody take the vanquish also, a great fast car at this PP, and for sure it could be a DC pretendant

The GTO 5.7/ Commodore SS (technically the same car), as well as the premium Mustang can be quite competitive at this PP level as well

Final Tunes Due: Wednesday, September 25th

Are we all on track for this or do people need through the weekend?

Also, I haven't received any PMs from tuners wanting to switch cars. If you do want to switch cars, PM me for approval before the tune deadline.

I'm all but done with my car. Looks like it's a solid mid-1:12 car, can't get any more out of it. I still need to change the oil (700-800 miles on the clock now) to hit the required PP and maybe retro-tune a few bits. Spent most of Sunday trying to get the thing to go faster, but now it's too loose. I know some of you crazy alien types love a loose car, but I'm tightening it up for the greater good of the non-alien types :sly:

EDIT: Hami, can you accept my FR, if you haven't already, ta...

I will be on tonight.

Thank you kindly. May not be necessary though, as I'm facing an error 8001002B situation at the moment. I'm trying to fix the problem, but deep within the recesses of my bowels, I'm sure it's bad sectors on the HDD..!!

Stick with me, I've just tried the 3rd restore option, one more to try after that...

I can always build your car for you if you need me too.

My entry will be sent tomorrow after I get home from school. I've been having issues logging in all day, so I've been playing different games and finishing up the tune.

I think I've managed to save the situation, as long as it's ok to fire the car over to you later today. I've restored the entire system, thankfully I'm an anally retentive engineer and I have USB backups of my game saves. I've not restored the game saves yet, but the game and system should all be restored now, in all honesty, I went to bed whilst it was still running last night 👍

{Cy}

EDIT: - Looks like I've recovered things, I've certainly been able to fire the game up and access my save data. Let me have a quick couple of laps with it tonight, just to check, then I'll fire it over 👍

EDIT II:
I think it is tragic that no one selected these cars.

Viper RT10
Ferrari California
Maserati Gran Turismo S
Vanquish

The California and Masser were on my "quite like" list, but as per usual, I made a choice and stuffed my head in the sand :sly:

Hami, are there likely to be any cars available tomorrow evening UK time (Thursday 26)?

I can usually get a decent session on a Thursday so could make a start. If so, could you send FR from sharing accounts, then I could accept tomorrow night. PSN woodski427.

Otherwise I will await your word.

I posted a couple of cars on share last night on MotorCtyHamilton. I also sent one car to biffa3 to post. One more will be sent to biffa3 tonight. I updated post three (I think) with which cars will be shared on which accounts.

I've just gotta get my car broken in (bob's doing it now) since I decided not to use weight reduction. After I get the final parts/ tuning to PP I'll send it. I just haven't felt like playing much this week and completely forgot until just now.

I'm not sure why I thought it was Saturday that tunes were due on, but yeah. I haven't been able to make any form of progress since the weekend as I've passed out after work two nights in a row now. Guess I'll burn the midnight oil tonight and hopefully have something to post tomorrow after work. Also my computer is broken and I'm borrowing one to type this, so whee.

I'm flexible. You can have a few more days. Six cars on share now for testers to begin with.
