The mix looks great! I am only worried about one car being the over-dog, but we will see.

I can hazard a guess at who might have picked the Challenger... Though that said, the field is pretty loopy as it is, not your typical 530~PP choices. Should be interesting. :P

I think with this one everybody is just picking a car they would enjoy tuning instead of whichever one should be the fastest. Then again, you never know

Pretty much every car I've ever submitted for FITT Shootouts have been based on cars that I thought I'd enjoy. Turned out that I didn't enjoy all of those cars :sly:

*coughbmwcough* :D

I've enjoyed every car I've done so far. The Lamborghini was my first tune ever and I even liked the Volvo I did for the touge shootout a few weeks ago. Even my wayward 2002. :embarrassed:

This one though...I am finding the more I want this car to do well the less well I think it will do. It is still one of my all time fav cars but my hair is getting thinner every time I touch it. I am apparently crap at tuning high power FRs. Well, high-ish. Anyone remember when 300hp used to be an impressive figure?

In the world of 94-04 mustangs if you want to stay N/A you're dreaming of 300hp! Those cars prove that hp isn't everything, it helps, but the only race I lost in my '04 was to a GT-R when they were still new, and a camaro/ trans am because I only had 3 ring gear bolts intact that I pulled out of the bottom of the pan an put back in to get home!:scared:

This summer I purchased a 2013 Mustang Boss 302. 444hp, 7500 RPM redline and a chip limited top speed of 155 mph from a naturally aspirated V8. The car actually frightens me. I took a 35 mph clover leaf off ramp at 80 mph and the car didn't even blink. I don't think I can get even close to the car's limits on the street. Going to have to track it some day.

Lucky you. When I got out of the Navy I couldn't afford payments, then it kept breaking before I could get to the DMV for inspection, registration, change to VA license, then of course it would get towed and the money I had for the previous problems went to that. I'm so happy to be out of VA.

Okay, after many pages of searching I finally found my username for MM, here's the car's info:

and here was the car, all 165mph+ of it...

Oh, you remember that one, eh? That car nearly forced me to throw my PS3 out the window. It annoyed me even more, because I really like the car, I see quite a few around town and would quite like to own one irl. Fortunately, GT5 is so far removed from reality that my experiences with trying to build one shouldn't put me off owning a real one ... shouldn't ...

I have faith in you, Sir. 535PP is just outside my comfort zone, but I'm running the car on SH tyres for the moment. I'm hoping that if I can get that car half-way decent that switching up to SS tyres will be the icing on the cake. Although I have a feeling that I'll have two Hopes and one of them is called Bob...

So, for all the tuners and testers:
Do you tune/ test with grip reduction set to low or real? I've noticed when I forget to set it to real my fastest lap is about 2secs faster.

I usually set it to real, although I noticed that my lap times get better from 1-3 then just drop off after that when the tires are warm. I saw a thread about it before, but I do think they tweaked something the wrong way in the last update. Maybe in GT6 the tire wear: traction ratio will be better.

I set it to real and turn tyre wear on, although I think tyre wear might be above and beyond what's necessary for this shootout. Tyre wear will slow your times until the tyres have some heat in them and they'll obviously go off the more laps you pile on them.

Hami, any suggestions as to what conditions we should test and tune the cars under..??

{Cy}

Groovy, thank you. Tyre wear can make things a bit hard for time trial cars. My online cars are normally tuned with tyre wear on, particularly the Ring cars. It can make all the difference in the world if your car handles well on cold tyres. Quite often I can make enough ground on the first few sectors that barring crashing out, even the fastest cars and drivers can't get close...

So when we're done with the tune, we send it to Hami... right?

A PM comes to me of the tune specs. The actual car will need to be sent to one of two accounts. Trying to keep the tuner name secret until the end. I will PM each tuner and inform them which account to gift the car to.

Got it 👍... if only I knew how to read the OP, I wouldn't have asked :banghead:

Now to start tuning my *This submission has been omitted*... testers are going to hate me :dopey:

I think there are more than a few cars on the list that will either earn the admiration or the ire of testers depending on how they're executed.

I love it. There are a few cars that I can pretty much guarantee won't do much as far as pace but could, potentially, become quite well-rounded as far as actually driving them... And more than a few that I've never had any form of success with (though that's not to say they can't be good). I'll be very interested in the overall results, especially with the criteria being more in-line with my own thoughts on how it should be judged.

So, without giving the obvious away and with 10 days of testing left, are we allowed to talk times? I finally slipped on a set of SS tyres today and I was pleasantly surprised. I appreciate this is the euphoric stage of the Shootout for me, there will be crushing depression and despair to follow, but that's all par for the course...

one thing and one has a car that will surprise everyone hiding place not game or time of the circuit would be nice to have option to improve

Talking times is fine. Please keep car choice secret.

Ok, so I've only run a few laps with SS tyres, but running on SH tyres, I was dipping into the high 1:15s. From my brief testing yesterday, I'd say that SS tyres are good for 2.5-3.0 secs. I'm finding that putting in a clear lap is actually quite hard. I don't mean just staying off the armco and between the lines. For a track with very few corners, any missed line can cost 0.5, easily.

I'm firmly in the middle of the pack when it comes to times and we have a wide range of cars, so I'm not necessarily expecting much, I'm just after a yard-stick...

Ok, that makes me feel a little more confident being on par with that. I'm in the very high 1:11's, (1:11.945) but I haven't touched the Camber or TOE yet. With "S" hitting the fan with work, I'm finding it difficult to even get a solid/non-interupted hour of testing in. I'm sure I'm not the only one!
