FITT: Blind Tuning Challenge! Congrats to Bowtie-muscle & Otaliema! Tuners Revealed!!

I noticed this seems to be the only tuning part that isn't allowed, is there a particular reason, or just mixing it up?
Seemed like the only needed restriction, will not effect too much. Weight is limited to how low you can go which will then only allow so many power upgrades. So, on the surface it looks like only the clutches are limited, but the min weight and pp limit help control the rest. If that makes sense? The trans is more fun when you allow tuners to tune them.

Its just to make it easier for the testers to build the cars and avoid confusion, the gains from twin and triple-plate clutches are all but identical compared to the stock unit 👍

: 54 fantastic time. best I could. 55: 257 ***.
and not my favorite but challenging circuit, as this event allows not say which cars will be chosen by the participants is interesting, but we have a car practically known, he that doeth:. 54 *** lololo
55:094 is my quickest so far but the first corner could have been taken faster, this is after a lot of practice though so I wouldn't expect the same under test conditions. I expect the whole field to be very close, its hard to find consistent gains after the initial tuning. 👍

I am definitely submitting a different tune then I already sent.
Not really because I like the one I am tuning now more, just that I gain lap times 'on this track' easier with this one. I was having a ball last night with the transmission, lol. I can't remember the last time I actually smiled while tranny-tuning.

"Well yeah. hey wow that works good. hey WOW check that out. . . . .is that really. . .oh wow. I like that. I gotta try this on a few other of my cars.. . this is gonna be wicked :) "

I've still got one more to tune so I don't know if the current one will stay favourite, I like it but I'm going to have to rest it for a few days to check if others will get along with it or whether I've just over-personalised it

Well, I didn't mean it quite like that.
All parts that can be bought in the tuning menu are allowed, except that single one.

It's not a big deal, I was just curious if there was something particular about it.
I wouldn't have ever noticed it if it weren't for another thread around here.

There really was not any particular reason, and that other thread came after the launch of this challenge. Honestly, I just felt that a twin-plate would be sufficient and would help to limit the variations. With the pp limit and the 90% or above power limiting, High RPM Turbo and stage 3 engine tuning are basically not allowed as they would not fit within the rules. The clutches were just more clearly defined.

And as for the other thread, I did post that I actually prefer the triple-plate myself.

Think I have rambled enough. It also does just simply mix things up a little.

Ugg quitting smoking sucks big time. so tired, and thinking so slow. hard to drive i'm off pace by over a second from Friday. BBut it's for a good cause I'l be over this in a few days.

Edit; didn't succeed this attempt. but I will not stop learned to quit till i've completed this very diffacult task.

Great, 👍👍👍 , the best cause is yourself.
keep it up brother, just think how heavy your wallet is going to be
Now that could be tricky, will the weight go to the wallet or to the stomach?

Thank you both, the best cause is the kids and a house 👍 for me anyways.
And the weight gain associated with quitting smoking is a drop in blood sugar, as that''s one of the many things nicotine does in the body. The thing is when you eat or drink something it takes around 20 minutes for the sugars from it to hit your blood, smoking releases the stored sugars in our bodies in a matter of seconds. So people recognize that they need to up their blood sugar level, but they are so used to the instant effect from nicotine that they just keep eating for 20 to 30 minutes till they feel better and normally they eat high sugar stuff like candy, breads, etc. And you can put away a few hundred to a few thousand calories in that time. Now do that 5-15 times a day and you have suddenly double tripled or possibility quadrupled the amount of a calories you've consumed in a 24 hour period. Do this for a few weeks while your body learns to release it's stored blood sugar on it's own and the average person will put on some serious weight. Than you have to deal with the eating habit that replaced the smoking habit. So yeah that's vicious circle I am going to avoid. I keep 750 ml a 25/75 orange juice water mix next to me and take a drink every 15 to 30 minutes. prevents my blood sugar from crashing so will prevent the eating binges in theory

Shhhh, the weight will secretly go to the car. :sly:
Not into my car :P maybe into @DolHaus gotta slow him down some how. :mischievous:

Speaking as someone who has an intimate understanding of blood sugar (type 1 diabetic for 20yrs) I can tell you that there is no substantial link between nicotine and blood sugar levels, nicotine is simply a hunger suppressant. Without the nicotine your appetite returns and you suddenly find yourself hungry all the time. When they used to send Special Forces troops out on exercise they would give them enough rations to last the expected duration of the mission and a few packs of smokes (regardless of whether the soldier was a smoker) so that if they couldn't be extracted they could keep moving toward the border without being slowed down by hunger.
If you have a normally functioning pancreas then your blood sugar levels will barely ever change unless you do some really heavy exercise whilst on the verge of starvation, only then would you get the kind of changes that you would be able to notice or discern.

Good luck with quitting, just don't fall into the trap of replacing one vice with another. After 2 weeks the nicotine has left your system, the rest of it is a mental battle and breaking habits, not easy to do but it can be done 👍

Well made it 29 hours with out a smoke better than the last three times getting futher each time. So sit back and relax for a week then try again. Just like when I started smoking it take practice to quit. Just need to keep at it. But trying to quit while trying to buy a house is a lot harder than I figured it would be the added stress ugg.

So after several days, I finally went back to GVE reverse with my dormant tune. Hmmm, took I few laps to get back into the flow but I got within .150 secs of my previous best without loading my old lap ghost. I do believe the tuners best lap time means nothing but what the testers will be able to achieve with each tune. This should be quite interesting since they are not tuning themselves for this challenge and it can be a challenging track unless you are familiar with it. I am excited to see how all this will turn out. :D

I think there's 3 key turns to this track that determine wether you'll have a fast lap. The confidence that our cars inspires in these turns will make all the difference. It is a fun track too, nice choice.

Speaking of GVE I need to go learn that track...
Turn 1 + 2 (double left after straight)-
Wide entry, stay close to the rumble strip on the outside for about half its length before lifting off the throttle and pointing the car at the inside apex. As soon as you're pointing in the right direction get on the brakes and shift down to 5th. As you pass the inside apex come off the brakes and use the throttle to stabilise the car (little taps on the gas) and maintain momentum. Allow the car to run out to the outside of the track and sweep round. Little squeeze on the brakes and shift down to 3rd, aim for a slightly late apex and get back on the throttle when you can spot your exit.

Turn 3 + 4 (S's before tunnel)-
Entering in 4th stay tight to the right hand curb and point the car at the inside left curb, brake and shift down to 3rd, the car will get a bit loose so aim further left to account for understeer. As soon as you feel the car settle get back on the gas.

Turn 5 + 6 + 7 (exiting tunnel)-
Stay to the left and brake when the big white curb runs out, shift down to 2nd and release the brakes as you reach the red and white curb on the inside. Turn in and stay to the right. You can go flat out through 6+7 but a small lift on the entrance to 6 is easier. Stay off the inside curb on 6 to avoid upsetting the car and you should be able to stay on the gas all the way down to the final hair pin. Use small steering inputs to help the car stay stable, if you are too aggressive then the car will start to snake.

Turn 9 (big hair pin)-
Stay wide on entry, brake as soon as you get in line with the outside curb and release them as the curb ends, shift down into 3rd and turn in as soon as you're off the brakes. Aim for a mid apex and feather the throttle to maintain speed, as soon as you can see the outside white curb get back on the power

My wife and I decided to quit smoking as well. We decided to use the e-vapor method.
There is a ton of bad press about the e-cigg around, but its not the same product. look up ghost-vapor and you will see.
long story short, we spend about 20$ a week right now. compared to 3 packs a day × 7 days.
Still getting nicotine, but you lower the amount week to week until you are at 0%. theres no smoke, no ashs, no lighters and no chance of fire. no ash trays. no yellow walls and curtains. no yucky smell on clothes and everything else.
If your having trouble, look into it. Nothing has worked for us. I havent had an actual cigarette in over a month.
good luck man^^

we did the e-cig thing last year. It made us both sick, very sick. Took my wife 6 months to get over it and took me 5 months. And hundreds of $$ in meds and lost work time. There is something in the suspension fluid that our bodies don't like. and yes we tried every brand we could find locally. Some where better than others the results were always the same. Great to hear they are working for you, Keep it up.

I`m using the same thing, took me a while to get use to it, I`m down to 5 cig. a day and never feel in need ( almost), just can`t wait for some warmer weather to be able to go run outside, that helps me a lot.

I had no problems so far, but my doctor once prescribed me Chantix, had to stop after 2 days, felt like I had ice in my bones:ouch:. At least I`ve almost stop coughing now so that`s real good, best wishes of success to both of you, I figure by march I should reach my objective, FREEDOM 👍.

theres a couple of different lines through 1+2 depending on your skill level, if you carry too much speed through turn 1 theres no way to correct it before going off track before turn 2. one of the fastest ways for me was to brake just before turning into turn 1 and using the weight transfer and slight drift to be setup early for turn 2. your tires regain traction right as you need to get back on the throttle and (depending on your gears) you never need to leave 4th. just don't forget you diaper though lol.

same for turn 4, i don't brake. I lift just as i hit the right side curb and start to turn left. I immediately get back on the throttle after about 15 ft. the lift starts your rotation and when you go over the left side curb it kind of keeps you pulled in and you can stay on the throttle for the whole turn.

after the hairpin coming out of the tunnel it is better to go a bit slower through the hair pin so you don't need to lift on the left hander going uphill. that small lift turns into a full car length by the time you get to the last big turn.

running this track reminds me of a documentary i watched about jackie stewart. it might still be on netflix. he was at monaco and explaining how typically you brake, turn in, and then use throttle at the apex on exit. then he explained how all of his turning would be done before the apex and he was back on the throttle well before he reached it. Now it might just be my car (cause i do like'em a little loose) but I was able use those techniques on the majority of this track. during testing I ran a hotlap of 1:09.8xx and could have done a hair better on the last turn. hopefully the testers can do the same :D

You can definitely go faster at this PP/grade of tyre if you're prepared to slide the car around a bit and use aggressive weight transfer, the lap guide was only written as a basic clean line that can be easily adapted upon 👍

(Really good guide on driving lines - http://www.drivingfast.net/techniques/racing-line.htm)

I have tried everything. chantix, the gums, theres another pill also can't remember the name.
tried it.
the problem I was having was the fact I wasnt just addicted to smoking. I was addicted to the nicotine, the constant emotional feel of needing one with coffee, (beer whatever), the fixation of the mouth also.
Now tooth picks help alot. carry a bunch with you, always keep one in your mouth when you can, it helps.
some people use small straws.
And yeah, the ghost-vapor is better then all that other stuff. And I do know others who found they didnt like the method, but there's like 20-25 of us at work all doing it now, and 5 or 6 of them completely quit after a few weeks.
Its not the God-sent miracle or anything, but if it DOES work for you, then actually it might be. I have saved well over 700$ in the past 5 weeks. my house (my room was the only smokeing room) smells great. my breath and teeth dont smell and look smoke-yellow. theres no ash trays uglying up stuff. the car smells great. I dont have to worry about anything being accidentally burnt or catching fire.
and most of all..... My kids are happy and proud of us.
Its worth a shot if you find everything else doesn't work.

Totally off topic but have to share.
