Hey guys great thread. 👍 I really enjoyed the Mazda MX5/Miata/Roadster challenge. Who better to run that than Hami? Awesome work .

Can someone please help me with a tune for what I think is one of the worst handling cars in GT6?

Nissan C-WEST RAZO Silvia '01

This thing was one of my one of my faves from GT5 and I had great races taking on the GT500 cars. Now, it makes me wonder what happened to the handling .
If I had to drive this in the real world & it handled this bad, I'd be looking for a box of matches :banghead:

Thanks in advance for any help or advice

First) excellent event Hami. Probably the best event so far, IMHO.

Second) how about a budget event, but with a twist. Instead of a competition how about each tuner be given a set of races from the career mode. At the end of the event we would have a list of cars that would take us through the career with the least $$$ possible.
(Plugs ears and waits for the anti-aircraft fire to shoot the idea out of the sky. Ta-chunk, ta-chunk, ta-chunk ... kaboom! Rrrrrrrrr, splash!)

I like this idea. I was trying to find ways to still have a little fun in the career mode and started doing the whole career mode with just the Rocket. It could be detuned all the way down for the starting events and then tuned up for the end of the career. I think I'll go back look at some more budget friendly cars that could complete a large majority of the career or small set of cars that can complete all the events. Each car would need more than 1 tune (1 around it's base specs for early events, and then 1 or 2 more as you increase the specs for later events).

I think it would be fun, but I agree with @DigitalBaka that it could be something to do alongside the FITT shootouts. I think some more about it and we can bounce some ideas around @Ronald6 and anyone else interested

Interesting idea and colorful imagery. But I wonder if we can't take that out of the context of an event and just create a whole other topic like the car of the month.

FITT Career Tune List - How to win everything without breaking the bank

Open only to tunes for prize cars or the cheapest options where you have to buy a specialized car (Super GT, etc.).

But it's so roomy in here! :D

@Mr.Slow has a thread for career mode without spending $$$. Might be somewhere to look to start with.

Hey guys! Just wondering, last year in May I hosted a SuperGT shootout (it was a bit confusing, can't deny), but I'm thinking in hosting it again. But of course this year would be different with more car and japanese tracks.

In my mind we would have that:

GT500: JGTC and SuperGT, maybe even throw some competition in there (JGTC vs SGT, anyone?)

GT300: Here comes the fun. Since some years any GT3 car with some modifications can run in here. So here we would have JGTC era, Super GT along with GT3. So here we could do a JGTC vs SuperGT vs GT3.

I plan on running this in May, June or July. Anyway, since there will be a range of cars to choose, I've started to spec the cars already.

This post is more of a interest check, so I'm up for ideas and suggestions as well.

Thanks,
Michelin

:idea:Just a thought......1st challenge was US(muscle car), 2nd JDM(Miata), time for Euro?......BMW, 135/Tii concept for beginners only, M3-coupe/GTR/CSL/Chrome line, M3 Base Model for ppodium finishers only.....pick spec and 3 Euro tracks?

Follow thw model @Motor City Hami gave us.....for beginners, use spec cars, set hp and min weight; normal brakes and non-adjustable trans.

Road Touring on sports medium and a pp restriction.

Touring Car, on Racing hards, no power upgrade.

Thoughts?

That was one of my favorite events from GT5. I had just flown home from Dubai right before the deadline so had like a few hours to tune. Adrenaline stomped all of us with his Takata Dome 2003 if I remember correctly.

I also like @Bowtie-muscle 's suggestion too about keeping up the beginner class. Maybe a GT500 for the pro class and a GT300 for the beginner class?

As for a Euro competition, I would want to pick from a wide range of cars. There are so many good ones to choose from.

@Motor City Hami , was just a thought in keeping with the model you gave us, 3 classes of sorta similar cars. Beginer, Intermediate and Pro. Beginner is great for us newcomers, sounds like fun, close competition and less intimidating if you've never posted a tune or participated. There does seem to be interest in a GT500/GT300 Challlenge. I was also thinking of the testers as it would be only a few cars to purchase. Funds are not a problem in game for me, not sure about others.

If there was still an interest in a money management challenge...I went through my list and saw that a Normal Car from Germany/Italy that is tuned using Sports/Hard and can range between 430-600pp (even though you might not need the full 600pp) will get you through most of the races up through International A events. Then it's a toss up on the drivetrain or aspiration as those are separate in themselves.

What I'm thinking for the SuperGT shootout is:

GT500:
Open to everyone.
JGTC vs SuperGT (still gotta think the criteria, but I'm pretty sure about this)

GT300:
Open to everyone.
Rookie class competition (two "trophies", one GT300 overall, one GT300 beginner class)
JGTC vs SuperGT vs GT3 (same thing about GT500, still not sure about criteria, but I'm pretty sure about this happening).

This idea gets the juices flowing. I'd keep it as above just without the GT3 class. Just a thought :)

Juices flowing? Sorry, I didn't understand, could you please explain what you meant by it?

The idea behind GT3 in the GT300 class is that since 2007-08-09 (don't know the exact year) GT2/GT3 cars are being entered in this class with some modifications. I went to wikipedia's page of SuperGT and there exists a list with all the cars entered thus far in both categories (GT500 and GT300). That's where the ideas came thru.

This shootout is probably going to be run in July, so I can test all the cars that I want to be eligible to compete (including making some street cars like the 458 Italia and the Gallardo into their GT3 form so they can be used) and spec them even, so the tuners can make their magic so we can have a close shootout.

Sorry I should've said creative juices :D

I like the sound of your gt500/gt300/gt3 shootout. It should be a good way for me to start wrapping my head around tuninf aerodynamics.
As far as the next challenge I like the budget idea and using euro cars. My mind goes straight to hot hatches or big heavy luxury cars. I'd be down with anything really.

I'd like to see the GT3 class kept for a separate FITT competition at Mt.Panorama/Bathurst considering this is the top class in the 12 hour endurance race.

I did say carry on, what happened here? I'm not against the idea of going race cars, however painful it'll be for my somewhat empty wallet (I'm not going to test anymore anyway so I don't have to bear the brunt of buying all those super expensive cars). Just…can we not have it so soon?

Also, perhaps we could have one based around MCH's 535PP shootout, the one with the blind testing? No, I'm not just sore because I missed it. :P

Maybe have just one car as a focus (I don't know, merge with Car of the Month maybe?) or by banning the established top dogs of…whatever PP class it'll be? Of course, doing the latter won't completely eliminate the speed disadvantage some cars will face, but we won't end up with "oh…it's X/Y/Z car again, it's a curbstomp before we even start", like the "Autumn Shootout" which should have been the "Honda S2000 + MX5" shootout, etc.

Maybe, on the single car idea, we wait for the new seasonals to post and do one or two of those. They're all time trials anyway to this point.

Week to tune, week to test? Could have our standard group of testers and also open up to the seasonal forum for feedback.

Does anyone know of a decent Transmission tuning guide?
I've read Praianos and used his methods previously but it doesn't really explain what is going on with the ratios and whatnot. I'm looking for something a little more in depth so I can gain better understanding of the principals.
Cheers

Read Hami's tuning guide.

So this is just a general post/call to members of FITT and others.
Feeling grateful that many of the tuners/posters in the tuning forum have helped me developed my appreciation and enjoyment for tuning and helped me participate in tuning/testing I was hoping to give back. My plan is to start posting tunes in the Tune Directory and then regularly testing/reviewing other tunes in this Directory, primarily from the less established tuners. I see the value in feedback for the tuning process and think that the Tune Directory's star system and area for general feedback is helpful to provide this feedback as well as exposure for some great tunes that are often overlooked because they are not created by the more established tuners. I see it as an excellent way for me to get some of my tunes out there without creating a garage that will likely get buried deep in the tuning thread. I think it is an excellent resource for anyone like me who is just starting out who doesn't want to start his own 'garage' but is also seeking feedback to improve their skills. Obviously, I'll test cars that peak my interest and won't discriminate against the established tuners (as I know feedback is important to all tuners), but I would like to primarily focus on names I don't see as often because I think getting started can be a challenging or overwhelming process for some.
I know that many of you already do provide and test each other's tunes and provide feedback. I invite new tuners to utilize the Tune Directory and to test out some lesser known's as well.
That was my shpiel.
