I like the beginner class, but in a few months we will run out of beginners. We had 11 signed up for the Miata event so with three winners, that leaves 7 for this event. After this we could have 4. We may need a different way to define what beginner is?
Was thinking about that, and thats why I said non-podium finishers although we could run out of those too(let's hope so), maybe just a Spec class with tight restrictions?

I just don't know what else to call the beetle(the new beetle):lol:, it's not a coupe or a sedan, it a pregnant roller skate if you ask me :embarrassed:.
@Bowtie-muscle I agree leave the Japanese cars for another challenge. as for the car list, I think picking a PP for each class will help a lot with determining the cars for the class and how many classes to have.

@Motor City Hami how are entry level/beginner's defined in the SCCA? maybe we could develop a rule based on that?
I like the PP class definition 👍 :)
As for the new Beetle :yuck:

The lowest classes are not restricted. My national licence allows for me to run National, Regional and track day events. I just cannot enter anything higher than my license like an SCCA Pro event. The pro level racers do not enter lower events very often. They are too busy with their pro class.

I was thinking that maybe just limit it to enter only one of two classes or only two of three classes. Or maybe after a certain number of wins, you earn a pro ranking or something like that? I do like that pro ranking idea. It gives you something to shoot. Maybe come up with a FITT social badge or avatar showing that you have earned your way to becoming a FITT tuning pro. Then, ban all of us pro guys from the spec class. Thoughts?

I second that idea. Having a Pro tuner avatar from FITT comps would be good.

Would it just be wins or podium finishes? Maybe a point system for podium, and when you hit X points you go Pro, just tossing an idea out. If it's just wins what i see happening is say tuners A, C, F are always top 4, Tuner A is top 90% of the time, F, is second 80% and C is third 80% of the time, Tuner A goes pro after hitting the Pro number, than F, than C. with a point system they would all go Pro with in a few challenges of each other, rather than months maybe a year apart depending on how many challenges we do.

Brilliant idea 👍

Cool idea with the points system. Five times on the podium in 3rd place is still the mark of an elite tuner.

Thinking through this, we do about ten competitions in a year. How long of a time span would we want for a person to earn their pro wings?

Maybe after 1 full cycle, so 10 competitions (with n amounts of poduim finishes? Wait no, then it'd just be you and fishy up there…I'd never get a slice of that action, and us teens can never have enough of that) would earn you a "pro" tag?

Going on the basis of 5 times in 3rd is the mark of elite tuner, I would say 6 3rd place finish's would move you to pro ranks, So just have to figure out the point scale, than set the pro level to 6 times the points for 3rd place. I would personally say that the points are also equal to 3 times the 1st place points, so if someone gets lucky with a tune and just rocks a comp they don't get shot into the pro ranks when they are not ready for the pro rank.

Tossing an idea example.
1st 10 points
2nd 7 points
3rd 5 points
4th 3 points
5th 1 point
Pro rank is 30 points earned plus three podium's, in the course of the game's life.

The podium requirement is an incentive for the 4th and 5th place finishers to get that much better. If your consistently pulling 4th or 5th place your skill level is very good just need a tad more to be called a pro.

Very interseting idea.

Pro/Elite Tuner ....I'll never be one, and I don't plan to :) I am happy already with sharing my replicas and tunes.
Just cause you don't tune the fastest car on the track, doesn't mean your not an elite tuner, the fact you can make a replica, is just awesome. I'm trying to make one currently, an '83 panda tureno....just gotta decide which one to build.....i think stage 1 is the only one we can replicate in game...

I agree, the reason you tune and how good they are in that class already makes you a pro tuner, @Ridox2JZGTE.

And, if I understand correctly, I think you can nearly replicate the later part of stage 4. :)

The "Pro" Badge seems like an interesting idea. Obviously it's use is more for our events, not to mark anyone as better than others. As we tend to say, there hasn't been a bad tune entered yet. Well...except for those that didn't tune anything.

I'd like to see it as a sort of linear system, ie you earn it for 3 1st finishes, or 4 2nd or 5 3rd...or some similar scale. Again, the only thing we'd do with this is restrict entry to the Spec events.

In other news, I see new seasonals up. FXX on Monza seems boring (and from WRS experience, it is) and I don't really want to do Matterhorn again, so that leaves the Concept 1 Series at Madrid, which seems fun actually...unless you're @CyKosis1973. I will post the quick event tonight but feel free to get started. Specs will be whatever you can enter the event with. One week to tune, one week for testing.

Break the baby Bimmer outta the barn, boys! :sly:

@DigitalBaka arrg I dislike Madrid. Love the car was one of the first tunes I posted, dislike the track..

@DaBomm4 can't get the engine right only short by 2k rpm, stage 1 can be replicated perfectly just to have to figure out how it was set up.

What does iirc mean? This is like the third time I've seen it today and I'm still no closer to understanding what it means?

Ahh right, now it makes sense.

*Stares longingly at a black and white photo of a horse and cart*

You kids and your crazy acronyms, when I was a lad there were words as far as the eye could see. Back then you could buy a Supra for 2 and sixpence and it took three full days to download an amusing picture of a cat, that was only if you were lucky and the modem didn't run out of coal.

*Sighs*

Better days, better days

@DolHaus wow your modem ran on coal? I must be ancient mine ran on wood with a bellows boy to help keep the fire stoked, I also had to give up my land line just check my email, man then were the days, was no such thing a meme when I was a kid on the net.

*thinks back to having his computer booted from a 5 1/4 inch with 256k ram, no hdd, and it the fastest computer in town.*

Well I say ran on coal, what I mean is we had a goat on a treadmill who we didn't feed very well...

I've still got a Commodore 64 in my attic somewhere, do you remember when games came on tapes? I don't know why they bothered inventing Windows either, Dos was clearly the way forward lol

You guys are cracking me up, but my memory is slipping at my age so its a little foggy.

Prince of Persia, Microprose GP game on 5 1/4 inch diskette  Sweet old memories having 20 something MHz CPU or was it 33  My first PC built, the specs are hard to remember now, maybe 1MB of EDO RAM and 12MB HDD, something like that, too old ...

@xande1959 Suggested having a Scirocco Base Model in the next tuning challenge (Euro Hot Hatches), thinking of maybe a Megane Trophy Base Model instead......Have Spec class, FF Hot Hatch, and 4wd Hot Hatch just about worked out. Base Model would add a 4th class, any thoughts? I will also take suggestions on tracks, Euro or Original only. City also I suppose.
