Proposed FITT Tuner Event:

FITT Thailand Tuner Event

I saw so many small cars in Thailand that were lowered with body kits and really nice rims. I recognized many of the rims from GT6 in Thailand that you never see here in the USA. So this inspired me to think up a new fun challenge using small cars tuned with stance in mind first, then handling. If I am next in line, I can launch it after the current FITT challenge. Below are the specs that I am considering.

The Cars:
Abarth Grande Punto '09
Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 T Sport '09
Honda Fitt RS '10
Mazda Demio Sport ’10
Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Sport X Version ’02
Nissan March 12SR '07
Suzuki Swift Sport ‘05
Toyota Vitz F'12
VW Lupo GTI ‘01

Specs:
385 PP
Front aero mandatory on cars that offer it (most do).
Rear wing, special or custom mandatory.
Ride height slammed and no ride height glitch; meaning the setting must be within the lowest ten number available in the full suspension kit and must be equal front and rear.
2" rims mandatory

Potential Track:
Goodwood Hill Climb
Eiger Nordwand – Short Track
Matterhorn
Mount Panorama

What does everyone think about using the Goodwood Hill Climb for this? Reminds me of the narrow roads in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Also considering doing a "stance" photo contest. Anyone interested?

We could add a twist to this one and run a harder tire on the rear. Might add to the challenge of tuning?
SS front CH rear, that should make 'em fun

In all honesty though I am concerned that the cars will be just the wrong side of frustrating with slammed ride height, its going to make the cars really uncooperative on the twisty bits

Lots of toe, camber and spring tweaking

Currently trying to gauge the level of interest in a FITT F3 Challenge in a seperate thread.
If the numbers of potential tuners & testers prove sufficient, I'm interested in having a go at running this event when a gap in the calendar becomes available.
Any advice, feedback, suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

1. If you build it, they will come!
Do not fret if interest seems low by only a few responses. Once posted, tuners will show up.

2. Research!
You have seen plenty of challenges and have tested. But building and posting are a little different. Check passed challenges, see how they were posted and come up with your own game plan. Best to start with several posts, just respond with 'reserved' on each first. Then you can go back and edit each, this way no one posts in between posts.

3. Rules and info!
Even if you think everyone should know, post it anyway. The more information you put in the OP the better. Eliminates questions and confusion later.

4. The unexpected!
Few challenges go by without something coming up for the host to deal with. It happens, but how you handle it makes all the difference. Firm, stern, yet gentle in speech always works best. As host, it's your challenge, so run it that way.

5. Fun.
Have fun with it, and never be afraid to ask for help or assistance. More than enough people will be willing to lend a hand when needed.

Thankyou Bowtie for sharing your wisdom & experience in these things. It's greatly appreciated  As a first time host, there are certainly a lot of bases to cover.

That's why I tried to help. You think you have it covered but something always gets forgotten. I remember my first challenge, still took a few to get it how I wanted day 1, so if you forget something, no one will jump you for it. If they do however, several others will have your back. Hosting is not easy at first, but in the end isn't all that hard.

You know me @Pete05, if a FITT competition comes up, I'm normally there. If you set up an event and it sounds fun, I will certainly post a tune for testers to drive to the limit.
Thankyou Shaun. The more the merrier.
I think it's fair to say this will be the first FITT competition for a true open wheeler racing car so hopefully it proves popular.

Thanks again, I'm just trying to make sure I have all my bases covered & am as well prepared as I can be before launch day.

I'm in. I love the open wheel cars in GT6. They are really challenging to tune. I miss the F1.

And my Thailand competition is essentially ready, but I do not have time to run it right now. Your's would slot in nicely for a September challenge.

Good to have you onboard Hami.
I was just thinking about how long to provide for tuning & testing.
Is 2 weeks for each reasonable?

I don't know how much time I'm going to have Pete. The new job is a bear, and now I have ti be moved into a smaller place by the last of Sept. Will at least try to enter a tune.
So @Pete05, follow the tips @Bowtie-muscle gave earlier and feel free to start the challenge whenever. :) I will try to make some time for a tune but with the start of school and all, have to see how busy I get.
Hope you guys will be able to join in the fun. Good luck with everything.

This sounds like a really kind of relaxed contest, because no one is going very fast around a track with those cars, but it will be fun.
