I read it as starting car is 450 or less for no more than 30k and then whatever you want. On CS tire. No oil or NOS.

I hope so. Been wheeling for an hour already. Hard track. Tough touge. 2:35.476
That's how I read it as well, just wanted too see if that was case, cause that's going to rule out a lot of cars just to power limits at least for the podium. Thus will be a expensive challenge several million if we get ten plus tuners.

Quick stint on new 550 seasonal is an instant 700k if anyone needs it.

For new touge event:

FWD won't cut it.
4WD is pushy and heavy.

Flat floor. 💡

Any custom track will not be able to be used by people who are offline. Not even the premade samples. That eliminates a couple of people from this one including me (temporarily).

@DolHaus just clear up any PP questions. 450 is the starting PP or the cap PP?
What's the power parts budget? If any?
450pp is cap
No budget on parts but there will be power limiting will be 90% or above so that should keep the shopping list down.
The cost of custom suspension, trans and diff always spoils theses budget challenges, can't have a tuning challenge without them really

Can we not run the sample tracks offline? I was under the impression we could. Hmmmmm...... tricky

Or turbo '07 Miata with a flat floor. I tried 5 cars. The Miata was fastest by a few seconds.

I'm kind of glad there's a 450 cap, the CS tires with around 550 PP was kind of squirrelly. I kept thinking, how in the heck will people with an auto trans manage this?
Some of these car will go well over 500bhp when maxed out and on low grip tire's and a twisty, bumpy track thats a recipe for headaches

Or epic crashes
450 on CS tires I like the sounds of that. Maybe restriction on drive grin keep the MR2 out of it at little car will wipe the floor with everything else at that pp and price if you can buy it that is I forget its base price

For price check and easy number comparison (not all of the equation, I know) I'd suggest http://www.kudosprime.com and I think all MR2's are under 30k.
Yeah you can get all generations within the price range, I was just wondering which one was a known fast car.
Good idea. What about a restriction on the year? Like '55-'65, give or take?
Had a look at limiting the age group but couldn't find any groups that gave good variety

Edit: Probably going to go for pre-2000 cars, gives a good variety of options and takes out some problematic cars ('99 MR2 banned)

Like the roadster '07 👍 fast stable easy drive.
After a look at the site banning MR drive trains will only remove 10 cars from the line up and I think they are the ones that would be most probible over dogs.

I think only the newest MR2 is the standout performer, tried the 2nd gen and it didn't shine. The track has a lot of bumps that throw cars off balance, I don't think MRs are going to shine brightest but I will test them before making a decision.

Still a little undecided on the track, I've only suggested the sample track because I thought those without internet could access it. I will need a group decision on which way to proceed as I'd rather not leave people out

You can test the touge track off line rather easily, just disable the Internet on your PS3 in settings and load the game and see if you can access the samples. If yes then it will work fine. I know for certain you can't get play made tracks with out inter webs

It doesn't appear to work but I'm not sure if that's because I've got other tracks downloaded?

Hmm not sure. You could delete the player made tracks and see, just jot down the names and makers of a track so you can get them back

What about Eiger Norwand short track? I think it was done a time ago, but it's fairly underused for how good it feels in the 450-500pp range. That, or Matterhorn Dristolen (Did I spell any of those right )
It was used for pretty much the same event so I don't want to use it again (hami's MX5's and my Hot Version events). There just aren't any tracks in game that fit the bill, I know loads of great user tracks that I'd much rather use but that doesn't tackle the issue unfortunately

DolHaus, what about the Matterhorn Rotenboden? And a car search I did showed 11 cars at 407pp, 4 are FF cars, .1 is 4wd, and the rest are FR. None are MR2, and the most expensive is $47700. Just a thought.

I have found 4 cars that not only have the same configuration of 5 doors and 4cyl FF, but are also pretty competitive with each other. The first set of times is on Cape Ring inside with CM tires and 425pp at 905kg. They all have hop ups and a light tune. I am sure they could all be made to be faster.

This second set of times is the.same cars, same tunes, but with CS tires on AutumnRing mini reverse. Again, they are very competitive with each other. This track is a ball with these cars and with super low Lap times, testing would go fast.

super low Lap times, testing would go fast.
Nice set of cars. But super low lap times are double edged sword. Yes testing is fast, but also due to the shortness we tend to go more raw TT style on them, less time to mess up. That's why we so often go for tracks in the 1:30-1:50 range, short enough we are not at it for days, long enough that the tunes needs to be balanced and quality built.
(not saying that a TT tune is not quality it's just not friendly and so will often not fair well on the longer tracks)

I would rather not compromise with a track I don't want to use, I'm bored of the in game tracks and I've run enough of these contests to know its only worth doing if you're enjoying it
I hear ya, so you need to make a choice, use a built in track like matter horn or eigar for touge ish race or exclude a couple of tuners and testers and use a player made track.
