Longshot, but does anyone know of a way to practice offline with online physics? I keep getting disconnected from server and I'm still 1s off pace :(

Only difference is tire wear and fuel sim. I think there's an option to turn tire wear on in practice isn't there? But before you try that, try clearing your cache. Are you trying to open a room in the lobby? You should use your lounge if you haven't already.

No option that I can find to turn on tire wear in practice (there is an option to turn off tire wear when online). There is a pretty big handling difference though, offline I'm ~1s faster and the NB is beautifully balanced out of the box (ever so slight oversteer on entry, ever so slight understeer on exit). Online the NB enters pretty much the same, but oversteers any time power is applied near the cornering limit. It is enough of a difference that tuning the LSD offline would be an exercise in futility...

But before you try that, try clearing your cache.

How do I do that? I restarted my PS3 anyway, but it didn't make a difference.

I've tried both, but I still get disconnected from the server/lobby before I can really put in any laps on warm tires...

Back on topic, I picked up another #470. S Mazda MX-5 1600 NR-A (NB, J) ‘04. If anyone still needs one, PM me and its yours

Yeah, I just got the options mixed up. I really don't get why they don't give us the option to set up tire wear for offline.

I guess one more option's to run in the 4 hour endurance race at Tsukuba for offline practice. Not the best option but it would work since tire and fuel sim's activated.

Have you tried joining someone else's room?

Thanks for the offer, PM sent.

I ran the endurance last night, tire wear is pretty negligible. And the 100 liter gas tank...thats 26.4 gallons...in a miata...I was immensely confused.

I'm pretty sure the online fuel and tire consumption is more accurate...I hope...God I love this car.

Is anyone going to be practicing tonight? I was going to start the Grand Valley Enduro race right now with my Miata, which should take about 3 hours, and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to miss any good practice sessions.

Just a quick question for you seasoned vets! I'm currently runnin' the '89 Miata and I've decided to leave the chassis reinforcement off for now, as it's irreversable, so was just curious to get peoples opinions on this. Is it worth adding, negligible or a hindrance?

I've not managed to put too many laps in yet, but have managed a 1'07.0xx at Tsukuba and a 1'45.5xx at Laguna Seca, both online with 1hp left to find in the car.

Thanks in advance.

Chassis reinforcement is required to run in the series regardless of whether or not it actually affects the vehicle's performance.

Chasis reinforcement's the way to go. Also, if you don't use it your car's technically illegal so definitely run it.

Last season's spec we were running 1:42s at Laguna. 1:45 sounds pretty fast with this year's spec, aim for 1:44 for sure.

While I generally hate irreversable mods, in this case it is really easy to buy another '89 Miata in the new car dealership to leave unmolested for your collection.

Why would someone have to upgrade fully? I mean as long as they didn't have any illegal mods, not having a racing air filter or sport cat is only going to put them at a disadvantage

What I have gathered from Turbo and the mindset of the sporting regulations is that this series is a "Spec" series, in that, all vehicles of a particular model are identical in how they are prepared for competition.

ok guys, thanks for that. I was thinking along the lines of spdu4ea here, as in this was the 'highest' spec you could run. If I have to run it, that's fine, I'll add it when I'm online next.

Any practices tonight? I might be able to do some later tonight for a little while (Like 930/10 PDT, its a maybe though).

Hey Hami. I've been looking for one. Care to sent one my way? I'd appreciate it. But I an't send you an add for about two hours (I'm at work)

Let me know if that'll work. Thanks

Did you get one of the '04 1600s?

Just ran a 3 lap spurt of Tsukuba, and managed a 1:07.832 right out of the box with the 1600. I feel more comfortable with it than the 89'. Now if my internet would work on my PS3 it would be great!

Sign up's not till the end of this week (as said in op)

I'm gonna set up a track day on Thrsday to try and get everyone on the same page since there's quite a few new comers interested in the series. That's awesome so let's get everyone together to make sure we all know how the series is gonna run, get to know eachother and get prep'ed for the start of the season. I'm really stoked up this week 'cause of all the GT Academy stuff and F1 starting back up so I just want to jump in a good sized race with this beast.

We'll do qualifying right before the race in the same "live qualifying" format that the series uses but just before the race.

So go ahead and refer to this post if you're down to race on Thursday. It'll be @ 8pm EDT. Room will be open and live
qualifying will start @ 6pm EDT. You can use either car specified in the OP.

It's gonna be 22 laps @ Grand Valley East / Reverse

I'm not expecting a lot of people,it's just open to whoever wants to try it out, no registration or aything of course. We used to do loosely organized practice races on Thursdays before season 1 started so this is in that spirit.

This isn't an official practice race, just a pre-season test for the guys itching to start racing and get a read in.

Decent test session tonight, got my NB Clubman time down to 1:05.2 from ~1:05.7. I'd say 0.3s of that was from consciously slowing down 0.25s in the 1st sector to take a line allowing me to carry more speed through the 2nd sector. Another 0.1s came from holding off my throttle input on the final turn for more straight-away speed, and the final 0.1s probably came from my revised LSD settings:

(2004 NR-A 1600)
Initial Torque: 25
Accel Sens: 15
Braking Sens: 5

I'm curious where I can gain most of the remaining time so if brosif or Jett wouldn't mind posting their sector times for their mid 1:04 laps that would be just swell (or PM me pretty please). Mine are currently:

22.3
40.1
105.2

Also, are you guys dropping into 2nd on that tight left hand corner? (turn 4?)
