I think he meant the AC vents. Why is everyone going on about the GT's aircon being like the XJ220? It's in the engine bay like most other cars

He probably meant the vents. That's the only explanation I can think of. Although I'm still not sure why the XJ220 was mentioned. Why is everyone going on about the GT's aircon being like the XJ220? It's in the engine bay like most other cars
I like the styling of the XJ220's interior. I also find the door-mounted gauges to look appealing.Right. And the vent placement is like the XJ220 how?
In the GT they're on the doors, an unconventional but elegant and interesting solution. The XJ220 has a pretty conventional layout.
Could we try and stay on topic?I like the styling of the XJ220's interior. I also find the door-mounted gauges to look appealing.
Yes. Stop posting xj220 photos thenCould we try and stay on topic?
I don't see the similarities. Almost all cars have vents right by the doors, so in that respect the Ford GT is like virtually every car. I would also debate your statement that the GT has part of its dashboard on the doors. It has the vents on the doors and the gauges in front of the driver.Yes. Stop posting xj220 photos then
It's like the xj220, btw, because the vent is located on the door (the jag's being right by it) and the fact that they both have a segment of the dashboard attached to the door.
The vent is part of the dashboard. It's attached to the door. Therefore, part of the dashboard is on the door.I would also debate your statement that the GT has part of its dashboard on the doors.
If it's attached to the door, it's not part of the dashboard. The dashboard is "A panel under the windshield of a vehicle, containing indicator dials, compartments, and sometimes control instruments."The vent is part of the dashboard. It's attached to the door. Therefore, part of the dashboard is on the door.
When the door is closed, it fits that description fine.If it's attached to the door, it's not part of the dashboard. The dashboard is "A panel under the windshield of a vehicle, containing indicator dials, compartments, and sometimes control instruments."
I disagree. Either way, it's a pretty flimsy tie to the XJ220.When the door is closed, it fits that description fine.
I agree. Either way, it's a pretty flimsy tie to the XJ220 IMO.
It's a flimsy tie, period. IMO it's a nonexistent tie.FTFY
I guess it's a subjective matter.
Getting back on topic, any figures for horsepower yet, or weight?
Well you did post the photo... Couldn't help it.Could we try and stay on topic?
I could imagine it weighing around 1250kg (I don't think that's too ambitious of a figure??) and be close to or at 700hp.It's a flimsy tie, period. IMO it's a nonexistent tie.
No hard figures, but Ford claims it has over 600 bhp and developed it to have the best power to weight ratio of any car on sale today. With 650 bhp that means it would need to weigh 650 kg to match the Koeniggsegg One:1, which is pretty mental.
I posted the photo as a comparison to the Ford GT and as evidence for my argument about its interior. Just like how I posted the photo of a dreadful Chrysler.Well you did post the photo... Couldn't help it.
I guess that means you don't like the way the gt interior is then?I posted the photo as a comparison to the Ford GT and as evidence for my argument about its interior. Just like how I posted the photo of a dreadful Chrysler.
I did stop. I asked him if he liked the gt's interior or not.Can we please stop with this "Oh the interior is like... and not like..." discussion?
K thanks
Not just you.I did stop. I asked him if he liked the gt's interior or not.
*sigh*I guess that means you don't like the way the gt interior is then?
A concrete bunker has a nicer interior than the 2005 GT. The new interior looks alright, though. Comfortable and of good quality, but not very special.
I stopped minutes ago. All should be well. Not just you.
I have a feeling it would have a balance of power and weight.Going back to ford's power to weight statement, I just can't imagine how they are going about it in terms of figures- high power? Low weight? A balance of the two?
The numbers, for sure, must be nuts regardless.
Well it doesn't have massive spoilers or anything, so I am curious about the handling of downforce, but it can imagine this will be more a cornering car than a flat out speed machine like the Laferrari etcI stopped minutes ago. All should be well.

Wonder how well it corners.
But it does have channels, vents, and those buttresses.Well it doesn't have massive spoilers or anything, so I am curious about the handling of downforce, but it can imagine this will be more a cornering car than a flat out speed machine like the Laferrari etc

Finally, the Ford GT also boasts a motorsport designed inboard pushrod suspension and active-aero wings that improve downforce and braking.
I thought this might be the case.I reckon that like the LaFerrari and Pagani Huayra, it'll utilise active aero.
Ehh, I'd argue there's still a fine line there. The majority of these folks who buy $200,000 cars are buying them because that's what they can either afford comfortably or the max they care to spend on a car. If they buy them, but have an income to purchase a $400,000 car, then chances are that they've either already bought the $400,000 car, or didn't like it when they considered it.If you're in the market for a brand new supercar, a couple of 100 thousand probably won't be a massive problem.
If this car has 700Hp (I've read it's pushing 600+ at the least), is running $400,000, & looks the way it does, I wouldn't be surprised if this is aimed at the 650S/488, or above. I can't see it having trouble against the R8 or 560S, though. $400,000 is a lot of money for a car that can't get away from a R8 or 570S that both cost under $200,000.Well you did post the photo... Couldn't help it.
But yeah. On topic.
So would the R8, 560S (or 650S?), and possibly the new Ferrari be part of the competition up for the GT to go against?
