Q2 Results

Perez was 6th, but he quickly dropped down to 12th after a last minute hotlaps from Aston and Williams.

With his awful conversion rate, one thing is certain: Leclerc isn't winning tomorrow.

I wonder what would happen if it rained.
Slick track+water=chaos.
Heck the FIA being the FIA they would red flag the race, even if it was sprinkling

Verstappen is historically more than twice as likely to win from a Leclerc pole than Leclerc himself.

I would say Verstappen deserves a grid penalty for the incident with Ocon in Q1, but it's unlikely that will happen

Not just for Ocon, although that was a poor loser move (Max isn't old enough to be an enforcer), but also his block on Piastri in Q1. From what I've seen, not even a 'noted'.

Neither was on a fast lap at that point, so it's moot.

I've seen this quote attributed to Verstappen and...

"Everyone was making a gap, and suddenly he came in between two cars like a fool, completely drifting and almost hitting the back of my car in T14. So I leave a gap to the others and then he tries screwing me over in the last turn to start his own lap.."

"And then I thought, well, if you :irked: me over, I'll :irked: you over in T1 too, and ofcourse - that worked out."
Surely a slam dunk?
37.4
In the event of a driving infringement during any practice session the Stewards may delete a driver’s lap time (or lap times) or drop the driver such number of grid positions as they consider appropriate.
a) Unless it is completely clear that a driver committed a driving infringement any such incident will normally be investigated after the relevant session.
b) Where appropriate, regard will also be given to the provisions of Article 18.1.

37.5 Any driver taking part in any practice session who, in the opinion of the stewards, stops unnecessarily on the circuit or unnecessarily impedes another driver shall be subject to the penalties referred to in Article 37.4.
Not even noted, you say?
And here's the Ocon on-board:

Who, exactly, was Verstappen trying to leave a gap to there, by crawling through the corners as lead car in the train?

(and yes, qualifying is a practice session, officially called "Qualifying Practice")

Ocon safely passed whilst on out laps. Verstappen deliberately (and openly admitted to) impeding Ocon on a hot lap.

One is a slam dunk penalty, one isn’t.
How is Ocon not impeding? He passed him on the pit entry while they were both starting fast laps, there is no way that Alpine would have pulled away from the Red Bull on that lap either. Ocon has no one to blame for being knocked out of Q1 but himself. There is no slam dunk penalty here, they aren't going to give both cars penalties when they screw each other over.

I’ll borrow the excerpt of the regulations from Famines post.

Ocon didn’t unnecessarily impede Verstappen, they’re both going for flying laps, if Verstappen has backed off so much that he can be passed by an Alpine in a drag race then he needs to reassess his out lap situation. No rules say you can’t overtake cars on an outlap, there ARE rules that say you can’t run a driver off the road because they made you sad.

Verstappen should have taken a penalty for deliberately running a driver off the road, especially as he admitted to deliberately ruining Esteban’s lap.

Yellow, Red, Green and Blue aren't allowed.

All of which make up the Google Chrome logo, which I definitely saw on the sphere at one point during quali...

tbh, if any of the top 20 drivers in the world get distracted by colours on a big ball….they should not be on that grid.. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Who would not see that coming?

If you buy a ticket for $5,000 and that ticket gives you FP1, FP2, FP3, Q1,Q2, Q3 and Race.
And you did not get FP1 and FP2 due to the FIA and F1s own incompetence you should be given a prorata refund.

The FIA and F1 know that street tracks have manhole and drain covers.
The FIA and F1 know what happens when these things get loose.
These things should be welded down for "SAFETY"

Ferrari should also sue LVGP for the damage to their car.

Not only that, but there's a portion that only had the Thursday ticket and they didn't get to see much of anything at least racing wise.

Also concur on the foresight. Manhole covers have been an issue at tracks before. It should be one of the things checked especially on a new track.

Refund should be inline with a cost of the ticket for the session, not pro-rata, that makes no sense.

If the ticket included all sessions for the price.
So FP1, FP2, FP3, Q1, Q2, Q3 and Race.
Refund the FP1 and FP2 parts which might be around $1400, but then again people mainly care about the race and qualifying than Practice sessions.
So I could see those sessions costing more, rather than ticket price divide by number of sessions x number of sessions missed.
