Formula 1 in GT6

Indeed there is certainly a lot more going on than we know or can guess at. If Ferrari have a special deal then McLaren must have that same deal now, or there never was a special deal. I don't really recall PD ever specifically saying anything about their Ferrari F1 license, did they? It just 'appeared' in Prologue as far as I can remember.

If you go to that new photo page thing on GT5, Ferrari has their own special "This is a registered trademark" message, in addition to the Catch-all one.

Codemasters has the rights to Formula One so GT6 will not feature it. At best we may get a Ferrari as it retains the rights to it's cars as opposed to the FOM controlling them as it does the other teams.

This could have gone in the Wishlist thread.

Personally I don't care what era they were to come from but I'd like to see some old ones. How about classic 50's or 60's f1 cars. Surely Bernie doesn't have control over all those?

The Formula Gran Turismo would be fine if a livery editor is in GT6.

Formula Ford type cars would be great too.

I'm not going to say I'm 100% sure but I believe they have control over any season of F1 since 1950. A game can include one or two of the cars, plenty of PC sims have various F1 cars from 1960s to 2000s but I don't think they can race each other in different models.

If there is a game out there without an F1 license but two different manufactuer F1 cars that can race each other I'll stand corrected but otherwise I belive that is the case. License any F1 car you like but it can't race another F1 car from the same year without an F1 license.

Considering GT6 supposedly has every car from GT5 we'll be getting the two premium Ferrari F1 cars again. All we really need is an A-Spec event dedicated for them.

Seemingly McLaren are also possible, SimRaceWay already has the 2013 car in their game.

You do realize those aren't full licensed cars on most of the PC sim games you see them used. Most are community built mods, and I think the same goes for SimRaceWay with some support from manufactures, not sure though on SRW.

Nope, they're licensed. SRW has a strong partnership with Mclaren, I think they have about 20 licensed cars now. I know many PC sims are filled with mods but there are a few licensed as well, BMW Williams is in iRacing and there are a few others.

I know about the Williams one for iRacing, I just didn't know about SRW since I've heard both sides. Yet you usually are a reliable source so I believe it. However, I'm not sure how F1 car license work, since it use to be if the FOM said you could use their likeness in a game that was it. However, certain cars could be allowed but I think it was just not the current year race cars.

Either way it's been said for a while that it seems PD could implement more F1 cars. Why they don't seem to still stands.

FM5 will feature Hunt's McLaren M23 and Lauda's Ferrari 312-2. Though it hasn't been strictly announced they'll be able to face off against each other on track, I'd assume they'll be able to, since their inclusion is pretty obviously tied to the increased exposure they'll be getting at the time due to Howard's "Rush".

McLaren
Ferrari
Williams
Sauber
Marussia
Lotus
Jordan
Cooper
Honda
Renault

All have licensed cars outside of the official FIA Formula One license. I expect Redbull Racing to show up in GT6, but it would be a travesty if there aren't any classic grand prix cars featured.

As far as I can tell the F1 teams own the cars, they can license them to whoever they like and FOM can't say squat. However if you want to license different F1 cars to race each other you need to talk to FOM because they own the rights to 'Formula 1 Racing'.

That's my understanding of it.

Ok, thanks, we'll have to see then. Maybe they have a special F1 license for that year.

I highly doubt PD or Sony would pony up the cash for extraneous licenses with limited use in the game. I would prefer they actually use the licenses they have now to include some Le Mans series to A Spec and some Rally races that actually are rally like with actual time trials and not this nonsensical side by side racing which is stupid to begin with on dirt.

All these wasted cars from all sorts of racing disciplines and PD doesn't utilize them much if at all. They really need to get some gear heads in there and have them set up A Spec with series using the licenses a Super GT 500/300 series, a DTM series, Petit le Mans series and Le Mans series, Rally time trials...just do something meaningful with all those cars. Heck even the RM cars can be used in series built just for them, its like they just slap ideas together and leave them as is and go off on a tangent.

What's better is if this time PD actually has the car list classed by their actual classes so we can build our own series using those as limits for each car and force things like stock engines or only certain engine upgrades, transmission upgrades...things of that nature and allow a PP regulator that automatically tunes your car to as close to the PP as it can get without going over leaving you to fine tune it yourself.

All of the above, but I'd especially like to see some 50's/60's vintage F1 cars from before the downforce era. Skinny tires, awesome sound (get it right PD!!), powersliding...it would be epic if they get it right. Maserati's, Ferrari's, Cooper's etc...

A premium FGT with different engine options (much like the karts) would be good for open wheel racing.

That seems like a no brainer to me. Only slight modifications to the car would be needed visually, mainly skinnier tires and smaller wings, less downforce and less grip with less power. Throw in a half dozen or more liveries for each one and you'd have good looking grids for different series. Or just allow painting but retain the graphics like the RM's. For the life of me I don't know why they don't do relatively easy stuff like this.

I never saw anything saying it had every car from GT5. Quite the opposite, I read that the worst Standards were thrown out.

nice replay guys . i realy enjoy with your opinion and discussion . we hope get full Gt6 . full F1 . full rally , full nascar .etc ..

Ferrari
Williams
Sauber
Marussia
Lotus
Jordan
Cooper
Honda
Renault

good news . mr e can not stop kaz to get that car in Gt6 . 💡

What annoys me about GT is that it tries to spread itself over to big of a playing surface. They give us a few cars of many different series/classes i wish they'd trim it down I love F1 cars but dont waste time on just one licensed team, same with Nascar just concentrate on GT cars Lmp1 etc

Ok, you go try asking Bernie Ecclestone if you can feature more than one F1 team in the game and let players race them against each other, without a license and without permission, free of charge. Go on I dare you.

FOM charges extortionate amounts for licenses too, it's no wonder that a certain publisher/developer are in a little bit of trouble right now.

If memory serves, the FOM only retains licencing rights for three years. Anything older than that is fair game for individual licencing from the teams.

The Geoff Crammond f1 games from the 90's and naughties had some great graphics and physics but crucially also allowed full skin editing of the cars and drivers.

Come on Kazanori son (sic)

Livery editor please.

Pretty much what I was trying to say earlier to Samus, but that may be wrong too. I think I'm going to go research this like some of us did before GT5 came out.

I'd like to see PD be daring and test some older f1 cars if they can, but code them as real-fiction F1 cars.

Most likely not. Closest car to a "new" formula one car in the game is the Rocket.

How is that close? Other than being open wheel I guess, but that'd be like calling the karts from the last game a close second to WSR 3.5 or GP2 cars.

GT already has a Formula GT. IF there is gonna be a livery editor, we could just recreate the liveries of F1 teams which would be a more realistic choice.

Possible hint that these cars are driveable?
