After the all-time classic German Grand Prix, Formula 1 trots just a few hours across the continent to one of the longest serving race circuits on the calendar - the Hungaroring. Not usually a location for fantastic races, the circuit which is sometimes described as Monaco with run off is a mixture of 1 longish straight and a load of corners which feed into each other. After three utterly awesome races in Austria, Britain and Germany to galvanise the fanbase into a frenzy again, can the Hungaroring deliver a 4th great GP in a row before the teams have a couple of weeks off for the Summer Break? We'll only find out at the (unpronouncable) Magyar Nagydíj!

Fairly confident that we'll go back to our "normal" programming in regards to the quality of F1 racing, as Hungary tends to not be super exciting. Still, after Germany, anything is possible, which could just as easily prove me wrong.

In other news, Thursday's press conference could be entertaining.

Let's hope that there will be extreme heat so that the Mercs suffer again, so that the championship standings might actually be somewhat exciting again.
Current forecast is dry Friday, 27C (All teams will gather the data they want for tyres then)
Wet Saturday for qualifying (So Lewis pole then)
Dry Sunday 27C (Exact same conditions as Friday then and not too hot)

We'll just have to hope for the circuit characteristics allowing Red Bull to catch up.

This race is a standard race unless there is a SC or weather, with either of them this track can produce the best racing of the season but the key is differing strategies.

Hungaroring is the best racetrack in the world when it rains. Without rain, it's a bit crap. This is the one track on the calendar where installing sprinklers would make sense.

2014 was pretty good, there was no rain, but a perfectly placed SC that mixed the strategies.

Expecting Ferrari to struggle here against Mercedes and Red Bull. If Sunday is hot enough, we might then get a good battle between the Red Bull Verstappen and the Mercedes.

Racing Point could be the team to watch - their upgrades looked to be working well in Germany in qualifying, but we didn't get to see what affect they had on their relative race pace. They have been very good at making up places on Sunday...

Sounds like a carbon-copy of last year; Ferrari fastest but have the win taken by qualifying.

Hamilton fan in the beginning of this year, Verstappen fan at the end. Wow has he made the last couple of races fun. Hope we will see something fun this weekend.

Surprise, surprise. Renault might be going back to the Spec A engine due to reliability concerns.

FP1 was ok. A couple of spins but most surprisingly was the power unit swap of Valtteri's car after about two laps.

Heavy crash for Albon, not what he needed if there's genuinely a Kvyat/Albon decision in the offing to replace Ghastly.

Apparently everyone is safe until season end and I'm inclined to believe that.

I think Albon has already shown his seat is well-deserved, whichever team it is next year I expect to see him in a Red Bull livery of some kind through next season.

I imagine they'll go from now assuming Gasly is (finally) comfortable in the car and directly comparing him with Kvyat for next year.

LeClerc almost crashing out of Q1.

Waaaay too early to be doing that, Charles.
over Max' board radio he also mentioned some extra wind gusts in that corner. And 10 secs later LeClerc backwards in the tyre wall. New rear wing replacement in 5 minutes

Russell P9.

Kubica P20.

Now KMag P3.

Danny Ric is out!

Now Russell is out!

Talk about rubbering in!

Mighty weird that Danny Ric gave up on that lap before it began.

He was cut off by Perez, but he overtook him on the last turn in the outlap.

He re-overtook him then just backed all the way off.

Too bad for Russell... his lap looked great.
