Didn't matter by then. He was already 2/10ths down in S1. He was never going to match the other two, and the Ferraris were such garbage in S3 that his third place was secure.

It seems he didn't have DRS for any part of the lap, according to Mercedes. Presumably it'll be fixed for tomorrow but the damage is done in terms of grid position.

I look forward to Max ending the first lap in 9th and ending the last lap in 1st.

EDIT: was also eight seconds faster than the 2014 pole lap.

Saying it now. Max is making a run at the WDC.
He won the German GP and got pole in Hungary and people are saying he's going to win now..

He has a lot of work to do if he wants to do that, especially with Mercedes and Ferrari biting chunks out.

Max is F1's golden child, Honda's building an engine around him, and Rebull is building the team around him. He has all the resources, he just needs to make it work for himself.

And, he won at Austria 2 races before, so 2 of 3.

I'm not even a blind Max fan, I just see the pendulum swinging.

Totally agree, it's on him. However, he seems to be grabbing ahold of it.

I'm not mentioning you, though I'm seeing a lot of wild comments on Reddit regarding him. People are seriously going in on Gasly.

If I were a young driver, I wouldn't even read social media, especially Reddit.

I'm finding discussion of F1 becoming tiring. Maybe it's the young fans/young drivers being "meme lords" (Max's words to Lando.)

I'm probably going to stop reading that sub-reddit. It's painting my view of F1 fans negatively.

IF Max makes it 3 wins from 4 races, Mercedes will be shaking in their boots.

Race day! Last recent races were full of excitement. Hopefully we will see another nerve breaking grand prix today?!

Enjoy!!

So, the current best driver in the world starts on pole so I expect nothing else but another win for SuperMax.
I'm very pleased with George Russell's results and I really hope he can beat the Haas and Racing Point besides Kubica.
And above all, let's hope for another great race.

Does anyone in the US have a way to watch the races on mobile? The ESPN app we used to use got a forced update and now it's crap that doesn't work at all.

Yea I hear that's got problems too, plus I don't want to spend more money. I already have a Verizon account and should be able to use the ESPN app but it's complete trash.

Surely I can’t be the only one who despises both Hamilton and Verstappen. Never been a fan of the silver spoon guys and it’s frustrating to see them winning.

So far not a great start to the race from my POV...
