Apparently Max had less than one litre of fuel left and had to abort the lap.
In which case why abort the previous lap? They must have known then he couldn't do another push lap at that point. Rare RB balls up, it seems.

getting confused on where and when to watch the race tomorrow. I’m seeing 5am, 6am, and 730am. I’m in the west coast US, any help would be appreciated. Looks like it will be on ESPN here, but not streaming, just through TV ?

It's on at 7 here, so it will be 5AM in the west. Yahoo site says ESPN2, but I wouldn't trust that 100%.

That's just US time zones at play. The race is 1200 UTC, which is 0800 US East Coast, 0700 US Central, 0600 Mountain (except Arizona where it's 0500), and 0500 US West Coast.

I don't know which kooky timezone is giving you 0730 though - there's no half zones outside of Asia...

I don't think ESPN can make up its mind what channel they want to show it on. My guide is showing the race on ESPN2 at 8am EST. I'm going to record ESPN at the same time just in case. At least it shows on my guide unlike qualifying this morning.

FP3 was delayed and cut short due to rain showers yesterday, but that gave me the chance to watch F1 cars running on inters in person for the first time 👍 Even during qualifying, the cars still looked mighty fast on inters, even though the front straight had pretty much dried out by then. I’m hoping for a dry race today though, and it never gets old watching F1 cars screaming by in front of you when standing only a few feet behind the concrete barriers :dopey:

Race start could be similar to Quali if the forecasts are correct which are saying rain in the next couple of hours but stopped by lights out.

EDIT: Right on cue an hour before lights out.

F1.com also automatically converts to your timezone, always accurate for me.

How long could/would they delay the race if conditions remain this bad? Normally they'd only have a few hours before it gets too dark, but you know...

As per above rain is supposed to stop before 1, so if it does, it's just going to be a matter of how quickly they can sweep away the standing water.

But we all know F1, they're totally going to sit and wait for an hour until it's inters ready.

We are waiting for the whole start procedure to be completed. That will start 10 minutes after the FIA says it is good to go. So pit lane open for 10 minutes, sit on the grid and mess around for 20 minutes and then formation lap.

This would be fine if it weren't for the fact that a 3 hour clock starts at the time the race should have begun (8pm local), meaning if the rain stops and the FIA are happy to run the race at 8, we will be sat around for basically another 45 minutes before the race actually starts.

Any sensible racing series would tell the teams to make sure the cars are ready to go straight to the race start, and get them to do 5 laps behind the Safety Car before a grid start 10 minutes after the actual proper go ahead. All of this adding into a race which hits 2 hours regularly even in the dry and is wet so has red flags written all over it. I can't see all 61 laps being done today.

Official time-wasting procedure meaning we miss a weather window? Sounds like F1.

Good chance we are gonna see the new point scheme for shortened races today

Awesome. Woke up to Disney still having a pissing contest with my cable provider, and pulling ESPN. Is this because I refused to watch the last few MCU and Star Wars shows? 😤
