I really don't see how FM5 should be measured in full against GT6 like GT5 and FM4 were. The elephant in the room (XB1) is the big reason why it shouldn't and why FM5 compared to GT7 is more ideal I'd say.

If FM5 could pick it's own battle, I'm sure it would look towards GT5P or Grid 2.

Myself, I'm going to compare the 2 titles that are released 2 weeks apart.

Forza 5 will be measured against GT6. GT6 will be measured against GT5.

Which is going to be largely pointless. FM5 seems like it destroys GT6 in any area that it actually attempts, but it's such a limited game in terms of content and features. It feels really, really like what GT5P felt like to me. Except a generation on, obviously.

It's like comparing GT5P to GT4. Where do you even start when every aspect of the games are poles apart?

By the time GT7 comes out there will be a FM6, and I think those will be on a relatively even footing. Or at least it will be sensible to make comparisons.

So using this methodology, half a game rated 9/10, destroys a full game rated 16/20.

That other half, content and features. Do you think an estimated rating of 4/10 would be appropriate?

For me it's astonishing the fact that you can compare a current gen game against a next gen game in a much more powerful hardware.

Gamers wins.

Plus, it's good to know that FM finally got a decent and more realistic lighting... the cartoonish look from past games was pathetic imho.

But lighting wise, PD are masters, most realistic lighting on the business... and always will be.

The environment in Forza looks more realistic, probably because its a bit less saturated, bit more textured (grass, road, sky) and the most obvious difference it's more of a typical day in England, overcast weather (obviously that can be changed on GT6, unlike Forza 5). But this is like comparing GT4 with GT5, ridiculous, FM5 is "next gen".

Youtube compression pretty much negates how valid this footage is on direct comparisons in my opinion.

Those clouds thats good, and more textures on the track means you get more sense of speed.

The sausage kerbs in FM5 look higher than in GT6, which how it should be.

Next gen hardware perhaps, but aren't we comparing software?

They look very similar, so most people would think they are the same generation. Alternatively, one doesn't look 10 times more powerful than the other.

The comparison is ridiculous, Forza 5 logically beat GT6 widely because of the gap between gens, here Forza 5 looks "videorealistic" honestly.
But if you want to do that, it's better to wait until GT6 comes out and setup the weather like in Forza 5 whose weather is always cloudy, to get a more precise idea.

Not a fair comparison since the weather is completely different on both,
Forza 5: Cloud
GT6: Sunny Sunset weather

Would be better if you could see the cars, making a comparison of the track only with completely different weather types won't tell you which game looks better.

The real comparision is:

Forza 5: Cloud

GT6: Sunny, slightly cloudy, cloud, fog, light rain, heavy rain, ¿snow? at dawn, morning, noon, afternoon, sunset, night

Comparative Gran Turismo 6 and Forza 5 silverstone, you can appreciate the high quality of the two games. Hope you like it;)

a greeting

Thread moved.

Hey @digiprost, love your videos, but in the future post your videos in the GT6 section only if it's only about GT6, or make your own thread in the "GT6 Videos" section once that's up.

Since this video was particularly about GT vs. Forza, I've moved the posts here.

This is my first time posting in a VS thread, but here goes.

I honestly like how PD managed to update the standard cars, I'm seriously proud of them. They could've just gaved up and toss them out, but PD went straight ahead and updated the standards by smoothing them out and having there windows less tinted. I'm really thankful for this because I getting really worried about them, but now I can rest peacefully. :)

One thing that pisses me off with T10 is that they desided to throw away half the cars that were in FM4, and the thing is those cars didn't even look that bad. Instead, T10 wanted to resell the exact cars from previous titles in Forza in DLC, and went ahead and lied to everyone saying their not holding any cars back for DLC... Yeah okay T10 we saw the list of cars for FM5's DLC that are in the Day One DLC. They even said it takes them 6 months to model a single car (probably the Ferrari F40, NSX and the new cars that we've seen are a good example), but the rest pretty much look the same (the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X still remains to be missing it's foglights and still looks weird to me). I thought people said T10 had some company helping them model the cars fast, so why all of the sudden it takes them 6 months now (modelling the engine and trunk or something)?

How about, T10 scrap out Forzavista, bring back all of the cars that were in previous Forzas but remodel the inaccurate ones and STOP freakin reselling your old assets with one or two new cars to get your fans to buy them. Don't get me wrong, I like Forza and owned every title including Horizon (except FM2 sadly), but I am incredibly unhappy with T10 has become over this franchise. There was no reason for them to throw away all those cars for a feature not everyone cares about...

Not at all. It means that content and features aren't everything, and how important they are is STRONGLY dependent on the player.

For example, the two iterations of GT I've spent the most time playing are GT3 and GT5P, the two with the least amount of actual content. I also greatly enjoy iRacing, and am enjoying the Assetto Corsa beta, another two games high on production qualities and low on content.

Even given my predilection for quality over quantity, there's quite a lot of value to be had in the sheer scope of a game like GT6. But unlike FM4 and GT5 where you could essentially go down the checklist and score one or the other game as better in various qualities, it's not even sensible to do that here.

They could both be 9/10 games, but for totally different reasons.

FM5 because it's a highly refined product on the vastly more powerful hardware and it looks and drives really well, and the presentation seems excellent. The content thing is a blow, but realistically it still has more content than pretty much any racing game that doesn't start with "Forza Motorsport" or "Gran Turismo".

GT6 because it simply has so much to offer, the most of any racing game ever, even if a lot of it is outdated/incomplete/flawed. The breadth of content is staggering, even if the depth appears to be less. The game isn't out yet so they may have addressed that.

Not picking a battle for FM5 it doesn't need my help, if anything I'm defending GT6 on this, but from your other comments I can see why you'd see it the other way.
