Saw this screenshot on Twitter. Not sure if it's real but some guy was using it as evidence as to why Toyota have been absent from FM, NFS etc.

1: It is probably 99% fake considering it's through Twitter DM
2: This is what I have been saying for months now anyway, and all signs point towards it being an exclusitivity deal. In that case, it's yet another example of Japanese companies shooting themselves in the foot to spite fans, and lets see if the GT fans get into an uproar like they did when Porsche was locked up by EA. Pot calling the kettle black.

Oh yeah, lets feature our cars in a game about esport. Totally logical... I thought we were done with this exclusive crap after Porsche ended their deal with EA.

I'm gonna take that message as fake because that will be piss-poor to those who enjoy their cars in other racing games.

Wasn't their excuse to not feature their cars in games the fact that people won't buy their new cars, or am I missing something? All I will say is, what a joke if true.

At least if they have an exclusive Toyota deal they are using it, unlike their Pikes Peak deal.

Considering it's a Japanese product, I'm not surprised that it's rocketed up to the top of the list in terms of licenses to use.

WOOOOOOOOW

It is extremely fast too! Cram the 6.2l V8 in it and it'll crank out over 1000bhp while weighing only 940kg. After a small change to the final drive ratio I've hit 247mph and I'm sure there is more in it.

Also managed to snipe a Twin Mill for 69k, it was the only Hot Wheels car I was missing due to buying the game after the seasonal had occurred. I saw a few Rip Rods go through too but I was just beaten on them, if anyone is desperate to get one you should be able to do it with about 1h of solid auction house searching.

If it were true, it's also tremendously short-sighted. The last thing you want to do is set this precedent and create some sort of "exclusivity" arms race where Forza and GT aggressively make deals keeping certain manufacturers off any other game.

Again, these short sighted business decisions are common to Japanese companies. Atlus, as an example, locking out streaming via the PS4 for Persona 5 in the fear of spoilers at the game's American release, ignoring the fact that the game had essentially been spoiled already when the game launched in Japan a year earlier. Plus - they didn't ban Twitch streams showing the game via a capture card.

But really, it just goes to show that both Polyphony Digital, and to an extent, GT fans, don't really give a **** about stuff like this as long as it benefits them. I mean, this is the same company that, in my mind, killed Evolution because they don't want another Sony first party to infringe on their territory, however tenuous said infringing might be.

It is probably a fake.
Toyota cars are appearing in consumer games such as Project Cars 2, Gravel and others.
And the latest version of arcade game Initial D, Wangan Midnight was released later than FM7, but Toyota's production cars have appeared and can be modified.
Also, the same applies to Drift Spirits of mobile games.

Then, members of GTP were inquiring to Toyota GB, but they never revealed the reason and simply answered "It is decision of Japan Toyota."

Here's the thing - we don't know. To use PCARS 2 and Gravel as examples is poor considering that the licenses for both games were probably dealt with in 2016 or early 2017, during development, and chances are, they were in the clear before any sort of deal was struck.

I'm also fairly certain that licenses for Japanese/Asian region games and mobile games are different, and as such, don't apply.

I'm more or less saying that the Twitter DM posted originally looks fake. However, the idea of there being an exclusivity agreement holds water, and has been really my preferred explanation to what has been going on for months now. Of course, both PD and Toyota are too chicken**** to say anything, so we'll never know. At least EA and Porsche gave us ample warning of there being an exclusivity deal in place.

I'm new. Lurked for a while. Hello.

We can't go by release date, deals like these are done according to different time schedule and relative to specific products. That's why Forza games are removed from the Live store after 3 years.

Seems to me Turn 10 is aggressive with their licensing dates, because they were the first game to have Toyota only in limited capacity along with NFS. It's possible Mitsubishi didn't make the cut because of this, too.

I haven't seen concrete reasons for the lack of licensing. I think it's possible Toyota has an exclusive deal with Gran Turismo and not disclosing it due to bad publicity from the old Porsche deal, but we don't know.

At least I think a brand with such rich heritage in rally like Mitsubishi would want to show it to the world so people would buy their new boring cars.

Turn 10 used to have a favorable deal with Ferrari but it was easier for others to sublicense, hence why there was a FVA game from Synetic and Ferraris in TDU.

If that's the case, then doing what is being done now, if it is happening, is even *worse* publicity considering nobody knows what is going on (though we can make educated guesses) and when it does come out, will make Toyota and Polyphony Digital look like assholes.

Don't underestimate corporate stupidity. It's what led Forza Motorsport to have crates after all.

It could be Sony's doing, as the company has an aggressive marketing strategy I'm not a fan of. But Toyota these days is not that friendly a company to enthusiasts. Their new sportscar is a dressed up BMW, they pushed politics in the WEC to win LM easily... Polyphony might have the least say in it.

Don't underestimate corporate stupidity

In this case, I'd think of it less as corporate stupidity more so 'arrogance on the part of Japanese companies to continually shoot themselves in the foot and let the fans be the one to feel the pain of their actions'

FYI - in case it wasn't mentioned, it looks like the "fixed" the seasonal championships on Fortune Island. Did all three tonight, and got the usual three wheelspins from each.

You seem awfully stuck on the "Japanese companies" bit when big companies all around the world operate in exactly the same way. If we're sticking with just video games, then look at what's happening with the Epic Store.

How do you get the "Lucky escape" skill?
You need five of them to complete a stage in the Forzathon thing. I've done a lot of dangerous driving in traffic but keep getting the "near miss" and "daredevil" skills.

You mean those things that have nothing restricted to it other than character clothing? Or those things that don't cost any real money?

While there weren't any micro-transactions at play, the crates were an uninspired and generic move.

Which says nothing about the non-issues that people seem to apply to them as they come up. Really, all it is is the wheelspins in a different guise, something that is no stranger to the Forza series.

Only one I still need is the head-to-head in X and D class cars, but everyone always declines when I try to challenge them.
I was lucky enough to find someone who needed with this back in 2018. If you need any assistance I can help. :)

By the way, the stream already went?

@TokoTurismo The Forza Monthly stream starts in about 5 minutes.

@ShakesMcQueen All you have to do for the X and D class races is start a PvP Showdown Drag(that's a specific kind of race where slower cars get a head start) event that people can join. People generally join drag events. And you do one race using a D class car, and another using an X Class car. That's it.
