Forza Horizon 4: General Discussion

A couple observations/questions:

1. Does influence sort of combine experience and fans from FH3? In other words, is there no direct "experience" category or am I too overwhelmed and just missing it?

2. This is my first Forza game where I've had a lot of paint schemes in previous Forzas. Is there no way to port over saved paint schemes from other people? When I go into schemes and click on the FH3 tab, I see all the schemes that I've created in FH3 (mostly just from picking different factory colors that for some reason saves as a new scheme), but I don't see any of the ones I've downloaded from other people. Is this right? If so, it'd be a bit of a bummer as I was stocking up schemes I liked in FH3 hoping to use them in FH4.

1. Influence has replaced XP and fans and does seem to be a combination of the two.

2. You can only transfer your own paints from Horizon 3/Motorsport 7.

I'm not too sure on the second one but yes, influence is pretty much your overall XP/progression points.

You can only transfer unlocked designs (ie. your own). I'm guessing it has something to do with others' decals.

Ideally, the popular designs are from community regulars, and they'll transfer their work over to this game, especially now that general release has happened.

Early in the game it was established that your player character was not the Festival Boss in FH3. So it begs the question, what exactly happened to them? Are they serving life in prison for all of their cumulative crimes?
I hope they're not in jail.

I have noticed a graphics glitch affecting certain garage thumbnails. There's a strange shiny look to every garage thumbnail that has been repainted or purchased from the Autoshow. It's easy to see when comparing the same manufacturer paint between the Autoshow thumbnail and garage thumbnail. Prize cars (wheel spins, level up rewards, barn finds, etc.) are seemingly unaffected. I hope this gets fixed because it looks like ****.

In other news, I'm kind of exhausted after spending at least two hours completing that Forzathon challenge involving 25 ultimate speed skills in a retro hot hatch. Kinda hardcore so early on.

Yeah, same. My Ferrari FF looks almost chrome-ish, even though it's a metallic silver.

Jesus that's a long time  I think I got it done in 20~ minutes by maxing out a 99' Integra, and just going up and down the highway that's near the mid-right of the map.

I did this in the same spot in my Ford Iforgetthemodelname, which is maxed out in mods, but the counter stays at 0/25 Ultimate Speed Skills. Not sure why mine still isn't working. The car is definitely a Retro Hot Hatch and I am getting speed skills. :banghead:

I spent at least 30 minutes realizing that I should probably use the Integra. I guess it didn't seem obvious because I always saw this car as coupe. Then I upgraded it in multiple steps because my first attempts weren't wild enough performance-wise, so it took some trips back and forth testing. Next I tried to find the ideal spot on the freeway, which was actually difficult due to all the sharp bends and subtle terrain slopes. Finally I had to succeed completing the challenge 25 times. Easier said than done because navigating traffic is tricky in a recklessly modified "hot hatch".

That's about how much time it took me in my maxed out RSX.
Sounds about right, because I maxed out both and they were pretty similar. The Integra just happened to hold a higher speed for longer so I decided on that one.

I hate to be that guy and point out the obvious, but were you consistently staying over 200 mph?

Same here, and I also didn't really think of it as "retro" compared to some of the cars in that division. If I didn't see it available for a race in the Retro Hot Hatch category I would have never used it. When I did it, for some reason, there was hardly any traffic at all. I was trying to get the threading the needle one as well but there was literally barely any cars to try to attempt it in the first place.

Reached tier 12 today, do I get that free Porsche for the rewards or is that only when you start a new game?

True. I found it by flicking one of the directional sticks while browsing the Autoshow. By doing this, car division is shown instead of performance figures. Easy to miss.

I believe traffic density is affected by time of day, but I can't say for sure.

Speaking of finding car divisions, is there an easier way to search it while in the Autoshow? I haven't really tried, and haven't bought may cars yet since the game just throws them at you.

Yes, when in the Autoshow, press Y to filter cars. You can filter by a number of different criteria, including car division.

My theory is that kiera plan to take over as boss failed at the end of horizon 2 (possibly killing off the old guy); because of you who then becomes the boss in fh3. kiera then murders you in a covered up car accident and takes over moving the festival to the uk.

My theory is he is still paying for and cleaning up the damage done by the drivers in the Australia Festival (probably in a local jail by now).

I've also just made a nice mess all over a well kept local Village in the UK  (Stunt Chapter) Focus RS 👍

Does the Bond Esprit have these submarine wings bodykit or was it just promotion. I can't find all these and I was looking forward to all these Bond gadgets :P

Oh c'mon now... everyone knows the Australian Horizon festival was just a coverup for an international wallaby smuggling ring. Because hey, who wouldn't want a pet wallaby?

I believe it is, similar to Horizon 3. At least from what I've noticed, traffic drones are much less likely to appear at night. I believe the number of people around you in a Horizon Life session affects it too, since tracking AI traffic is a lot more difficult when you have a lot of players in the same general area. I'll have to jump into a solo session later and test these things out.

I thought I checked that and there was no upgrade hero full kit, and it only offered the usual custom rear wing and front spoiler. I will check again later tonight now! 👍
It's a little odd because there's no upgrade hero kit and it's not in aero. You'll only find it in the conversion menu.

Since the Princes Street track is in the game it only made sense to relive some PGR2 fun...

Turns out there are enough cars in the game to nicely recreate these classes:
- Ultimate (with some cars replaced by newer models such as the Agera for CC8S)
- Extreme (perfectly)
- Compact Sports (with the Leon, Clio V6, and Beetle missing)

I've created and shared blueprints of Ultimate and Compact Sports with the mostly correct cars hand picked.

Yeah, but the problem is with all the challenges. The Street Scene and the Speed Zone challenges won't register as complete either. The only one I passed was the owning a retro hot hatch car, the same car used to attempt the challenges. Weird.

By any chance are you doing them out of the order that it's presented? My friend is having a similar issue.

At first, no, but since the next challenge wasn't working I moved to the next and none work. However, playing now I seem to have connection issues that can be related. The game servers are down for me, can't connect to anything in the game including auction house and things like that. I don't need Xbox Live Gold to participate do I?

More hidden FE cars!!! According to Reddit, the MC12 FE is hidden within the Maserati 300 S' skill tree, it costs 25 skill points, and grants speed skill bonuses. Meanwhile, the Merc SL65 FE is hidden within the 300 SL Coupe's skill tree, costs 20 points and gives drift bonuses.

Also, as an aside/mild rant, some of the cars in certain championships make absolutley no sense to me. How the hell does a 2005 Sagaris or 2002 R34 Skyline qualify as "retro?" I didn't know "retro" meant "anything just over 10 years old." :odd:

You may be onto something, to be honest. As for needing XBL, I'm not exactly sure, I haven't expired mine for years now.
