I don't think this mode is for me. Out of 15 rounds the highest I got was 13th. From there it was all downhill with 14th, 33rd, 38th, 42nd, 56th, 57th, and so on. Hell, I'm only on level 6 after all that effort. While the Cougar and the Megane are interesting and I would like to get them, relying on my :censored:luck to obtain them is way out of my league. Of course, I already knew when this was announced that my luck would hold me back. Guess I was right.

It takes time, but you can also get influence from the time-out elimination.
And in some cases this method can give better results than playing seriously.
The only thing you need to do is pick a road near the edge of the map at the spawn point, move immediately to the edge of the map and wait for the timeout.
Even better way. Please fix it with a rubber band so that the trigger can be pulled. You can get influence more easily.
This method is very time consuming. (This way I took about 5 hours to get Megane) but I can get influence without any stress at all.

I'm liking the eliminator mode, it brings something new and enjoyable to Horizon. I tried 4 games and managed to finish third in two of them, one of them in a rather modest Evo X. However, in that round the head-to-head function didn't work for me and a bunch of players so we had to wait for a few people to quit the lobby (out of boredom I guess) to progress to the final showdown. :boggled:

I just got the last Eliminator achievement (50 Eliminator games), on two consecutive wins: i'm a bit sad to have no pretext left to play that mode :(
That was a good update, anyway :)

Edit: here's the full Influence / Finishing position in the Eliminator.
I think the best way to get Influence points is to survive, the 1000 head2head win prime is low given the risk.

Such dedication! I wouldn't even be able to list all of that if I tried. Awesome stuff! 👍

I'm close to completing the two achievements, but already got the Mercury Cougar Eliminator. My goal has been fulfilled. Now, bring on the new cars! :D

As long as I stay in the Top 10, I should get the cars in no time.

Narrowly managed to snipe the free Impala SS in early today's Advent Shop (had all of 12 minutes to spare :scared: )

The next 22 hours and change (for those interested) is the Local Motors Rally Fighter.

Haven't had a chance to crack at the Eliminator since my internet is a steaming pile, but it looks interesting enough.

The Megane R26R is the best car to ever be added to this game, at least until next thursday when the new A110 comes around.

And even then it still might be better.
It's truly that good?? What is its performance index out of the box?

It's low A-class (704 I think) but the thing feels like it's on rails.
Just enough so it wouldn't be the overdog, then. Smart, if that was by design.

The older (2009?) Vauxhall Corsa is like that, though, same on-rails feeling. Couldn't believe how good of a 600-class car it is.

I recently finally got the underdog achievement by beating a level 7 car with a Mini. I was trying to get the pacifist achievement, I'm still trying to get it.
It really is a hard achievement to get, people won't leave me alone.

31 games of Eliminator and 2nd place is my highest finish out of 60+ other racers.

Literally lost 1st place because of a wall. :banghead:

My lowest finish was about 68th

Played my first Eliminator game with 0 clue about what to do and somehow got a top 3 in a Lvl 3 Subaru 22B.

Also scored 2 head to head eliminations.

The Eliminator can be very enjoyable once you start to find out where the various car drops are likely to be placed around the map.

Head 2 heads can be fun or annoying but still quite intense regardless what car your in.

Learning the map is vital for success in reaching a finish line during races, but it can still be a game of chance as I'm sure everyone will know already.

Avoiding the ever shrinking arena wall of doom can really send your heart pumping especially if you're caught off guard.

Overall it's fairly decent new addition imo with a few lackluster rewards except for the new car additions ofcourse.

Hopefully PG will shake things up in this mode a bit in the future.

On a side note, I really enjoyed Eliminator but now that I have the Cougar I probably will only touch it if new prizes are added. Fun times, hope it comes back in future Horizons.

I wanted to find out how fast the arena wall moves, so I hung out in Astmoor in a T6 Ranger, and then tried to match the speed of the wall. I was at the farthest part of the arena, so this would be the fastest moving part of the wall. As the wall approached me, I took off. A little too late as it turned out, as I fell behind the wall. When I hit 100 mph, I finally matched the speed of the wall. At 110 mph, I finally managed to overtake the wall, and none too soon as I only had a few seconds left on my meter. So there’s your answer. The wall moves at 100 mph.

Tbh its kind of a fun mini game trying to out race the wall of doom!

I think it would've been more challenging if the final 12 players had to out race the wall as well as get to the finish line! :nervous:

Once the timer starts for the final showdown, it's best to leave the arena and predict a direction on where you think the finish would be depending on where you're currently at. You'll have a chance at leading by a lot.
