I got my two awesome drift skills in the Gran Pantano Sprint. It’s near the southeast corner of the map. It’s fast and downhill with some excellent corners to drift around. I set the drivatars to “tourist” so I wouldn’t have to deal with them. I got both skills in my first try, and I am horrible at drifting.
I’m at work now so I can’t look it up, but I downloaded a tune I think called “AWD Drift” or something like that, it made it pretty easy with with the tune.
A lot of times they will have “drift tune seasonal” or something like to that effect, any of those tunes usually work well.
I ended up searching drift on tunes and found one like that so I managed to complete the Forzathon, which also unlocked the Delorean. Just need to see how many more points I can get and see if I can get the Aston.
I decided to do a bit of photography today and discovered the front wheels only show as going straight ahead. Even if I’m stopped and have the front wheels turn fully to the side, they will only show straight ahead in photomode. I haven’t seen anything about it, but I can’t imagine I’m the first to notice it.

is a bug when connected to Horizon Life, when you click the photo mode button for some reason the game unpaused the game for a few seconds and move the steering back to default position before the photo mode screen show up.
The wheels will stay turning if you enter photo mode when you are in Horizon Solo or in a single player race.
I like to imagine that it's because everyone moved away. They all went "aww crap these obnoxious Horizon douches are here" and all packed up and went somewhere else because they are tired of ... the million players in supercars driving up the local gas prices...
Now that you mention it... I don't recall seeing any petrol stations around Mexico. Maybe the tiny handful of non-festival cars driving around are trying to preserve precious fuel before they end up as one of the permanently parked props.
I can understand the server disconnects to an extent because 8 million people have been playing, but then again, with all the hype that's been surrounding this thing, one could hope they'd be better prepared.
Services in general consistently have trouble with the day one boom because it's cheaper to scale them for the expected average user count after launch than scale up to handle the absolute maximum and then have unused capacity for years after that. That 8 million player count shows that a bumpy start doesn't put people off.
Why is it when I go through a speed trap that I'm still in the top 100% of drivers? That would mean I was the slowest person ever to drive through that speed camera - I find that highly unlikely. Why hasn't this been fixed since FH4?
It shows your position on your own personal leaderboard, containing you and any friends who play the game. If you're the only person on that leaderboard, you are indeed the slowest person, as well as the fastest.
In regards to opening/closing the roofs of convertibles, in July of this year I checked every FH4 car to see if the roof could be opened/closed. Once PG has fixed their bug that prevent most convertibles from changing their roofs, be sure to check out these cars.
FH4 cars where you can open/close the roof with full animation in Forzavista:
2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is
2014 Ferrari California T
2018 Ferrari Portofino
2013 Mazda MX-5
2014 McLaren 650S Spider
2019 McLaren 720S Spider

After over a week since ultimate Launch and over 20 hours gameplay, this is definitely my favourite Horizon game by some margin. The map has an excellent sense of scale and that awesome feeling of distance and different regions that was largely lacking from FH4, which felt like a backwards step from FH3. Also, the promised verticality of FH4, which was there to a degree but not enough to get excited, is finally here and it’s brilliant.
FH5 has the best driving roads of any of the Horizon games, both the dirt and tarmac mountain passes are exceptional to drive and the canyon pass in the north is also a beautifully realised road and location. There’s loads of great sections which I keep going back to and enjoying and that’s something that I haven’t felt in a Horizon game before outside of expansions, (fortune islands mountain road was of course excellent fun). The roads of old have largely been forgettable stretches with the occasional interesting section.
I’ve covered how I feel about the cars and car feel, to summarise, the best feeling Horizon from a driving perspective. Cars feel how I imagine they should feel, which gives a lot more characater to the cars and I’ve found myself driving a wider variety of cars because of this.
I also like the accolade system, that’s good fun to work on, the new car collection screen shows all it takes sometimes is a fancy menu to make something feel a bit more special and more worthwhile and the stories and how the core festival progression is structured is very pleasant and has been fun to play through.
It’s not all Sunshine and unicorns. There have been a couple of annoying glitches that have required restarts, an odd one of which caused PR stunts to simply stop working, midway through doing the stunt driver sequence or events, so I physically couldn’t complete a challenge which was a PR stunt. I thought just that challenge may have been bugged but no PR stunts were working until I restarted.
A few menu hangs and the odd crash here and there too.
The map, I once you’ve opened up the festivals and stuff, becomes almost impossible to look at, you have to filter stuff otherwise it’s just a mess of icons. It would be nice if completed events and 3 star PR stunts automatically is appeared from the main map view when completed but the filter is there, it’s just a little irritation for me personally.
Barn finds, I won’t spoil them for those who haven’t done them, but I found they came thick and fast, like they just wanted to get them out of the way,
and let’s face it, bar maybe 1 or 2 they were pretty disappointing compared to previous games
I don’t mind how progression works too much, I’m happy to be spoiled with cars and credits because of how the game scales the races to what you want to drive. I prefer that freedom in a game like this. I don’t even mind getting clothes in the wheelspins, that’s ultimately just part of the fun of these types of machines. Get something amazing or get a duck.
I would like there to be a better progression screen, unless there is one and I can’t see it. That outlines exactly what events you’ve completed for each festival so you can attack the races with some degree of structure. The car progression isn’t there so perhaps a track difficulty progression should be.
In all, I expect as I’ve said before, for this to become my most played Horizon game. FH3 and 4 both ran to about 96 hours each for me. Though I found FH3 to be the absolute best one so far.
Now I know this has been a long post but I’m also curious to see what people think the expansions will be. The first expansion for Horizon 4 came a couple months after launch, and the pattern for the previous 2 games seems to have been, semi realistic/serious map following the main game and then a slightly more whacky out there addition.
I wonder if the first one will be something like a city based map, Mexico City or something urbanised. Or maybe they’ll cross the border into the USA, Texas or New Mexico maybe. Perhaps a bit more unlikely but certainly interesting to think would be Cuba, very interesting car culture and an island quite near Mexico.
It equalled out,2 bad spins 2 good ones, got me a MC12 and Miura, after narrowly missing 2 FE cars earlier.
Edit: I'm sure someone asked if anyone had got a prize from a wheelspin inside a car mastery that was worth more than that car, I think it's safe to say an Aventador SV is worth more than a 2018 Mustang..
For the insane price they charge you for the Castillo they could at least have made it give you a super wheelspin every day or at least give you wheelspins on the days you don't log in. At least you get a free car if you have all the houses.
That would be good. I love wheelspins, mostly it's a free car I don't have at the moment. Ask me a year from now! I don't think the perks for any of the houses are worth it but I thought the earlier I get the wheelspin the more chances I have to win .... socks.

Nice! Having gravity on your side certainly helps. Despite what the game says the GTR doesn't want to go mad drifting, if anything it's a little too stable. That is still the most annoying one I have had to do.
Funnily enough I looked at that page before commenting. Of course if I were in a room of 15,000 people I would say that is a lot, but among a population of 126 million it is 0.01% so as far as coming across Polish people in the game there would be (assuming an equal spread) one per 10,000 people. I admit now though the way I worded it did appear a bit ignorant!
I forget which GTP user Almu89 is, but my goodness, what did I even do to you? I logged in to eight Rivals notifications between yesterday and today from them coming after my leaderboard times.

From the first list only 2 of 6 are in FH5. In fact, I was surprised that the others were ommited.
From the second one only the Zonda C works in the game and the Bronco is a custom option.
That said, the Z4 E89 is mentioned as a requirement to get the car collection accolade for unlocking FH2's starter cars - which means the car will likely come in an update as a hard-to-find car. These accolades also mention having to own certain Lancias or Abarths to complete certain lists, which as of today can't be completed.
The weird things are: the SLK will have the option despite the fact the roof can't be opened/closed in Forzavista, and the Willys can fold the windows if you do it in Forzavista before driving the car from there.
For that reason, other "hidden" targas such as the Carrera GT or the Mk4 Supra -or cabrios like the Z4 G29 - could have roof options even if they are not available right now.
On another topic, the special car categories in EventLab haven't been updated, mainly the categories that could have new-to-franchise cars or returning Toyotas, such as Upgrade Heroes, Iconic Movie Cars or Homologation Heroes might have them on the thumbnail but the cars themselves are not part of the list...
Talking of the Castillo house daily wheelspins: I got one the day I bought it, however I logged in briefly today but no wheelspin triggered. Anyone else have the same problem?

After playing 23+ hours over the last week (which actually felt longer - in a good way), I'm still waiting for the restoration of one of my barn finds:
Ferrari 250 GTO
This was one of my first 5 barn finds, so I'm not sure what's taking so long. Yes, I did click on it and it's still 7,500,000 credits for an early completion (I think it's still being painted). Those who've already received this one, how long did it take?

It's not really a bug, so I'd imagine it's something that's going to stick around. It's the fact that the game is online, so it's always online aspect actually stops the "pause" you actually get when offline. If you press pause and open photomode through the menu it's the exact same way. Like @T0MMY3688 mentioned though, shooting photos offline will stop that from happening.

Hopefully it won't be much longer and I'll check tonight when I get home from work. It's been slooooow going with this one and since I work in supply chain for a living, it's driving me nuts.
Last Wednesday it had already been a couple days, and at that time it was going through "part stripping and cataloging", but I could expedite it for the tidy sum of...

Exactly this just happened, only I lost the Castle, millions of credits, and a bunch of season events when it's about to end in a couple of days. I've seen it save multiple times even today. I feel like leaving it until they sort out the bugs as the Horizon Tour and Open don't work even if I try to connect for hours.
Anyone have the game crash and when they reloaded it reverted back a whole day?
I had the game crash while finding the next barn find and for some reason the game resorted to everything I did from the day before. Lost about 10+ cars and a million credits and everything I unlocked for the whole day gone. Found it weird because I would have assumed the game would have saved more often than that?!
I used a stock Porsche 911 GT3 RS for road circuits/routes, so beating those times shouldn't be too hard with a tuned car. For dirt routes I mainly used Willys Jeep with Don Joewon Song's A800 tune. Absolutely hate how fast and easy to drive that car is, but it got the job done quickly
I normally don't pay attention to rivals as I rather drive completely stock cars and those don't do too well on rivals leaderboards
