I'm at work for a few hours. Anyone got the Sport Classic yet and is there anything extra such as a GT3 style wing?

Oh, what time does it change? I'm not home until 6pm UK time, so it's always been ready and waiting on a Thursday lol.

The fact that you can only upload 150kb .svg images (and have to go through an actual website to upload them, what is this, 2008?) and that there is no internal layer group editor makes this something I can't agree on. And at the end of the day, having to work with the limitations of the GTS editor means trading the tools of the Forza paint editor with those of dedicated software like Inkscape or Illustrator. Go ahead, tell me it's easier to draw with Bézier curves, I'll just laugh in your face.

Personally, I think there are other things that T10/PGG can do without radically altering the editor (or having to implement yet another layer of content moderation) that would benefit painters way more.
The first thing would probably be to add the possibility to share unlocked decals, as it was back in the Xbox 360 days - Gran Turismo allows everybody to freely use the decals uploaded to their servers, and other games with livery editors (like Ride 4, which nobody seems to be talking about) also allow players to share liveries making use of downloaded layer groups.
Extending the paintable area to the car's windows should be something else to look into for Forza Motorsport, but it would probably be a brake caliper situation if they tried to implement it in FH5. And adding proper layer masks and the ability to choose specular of each individual layer would likely be hard to implement, but it would absolutely be worth the hassle if they could.

But at the end, I'm skeptical any of that will ever happen - mostly because T10/PGG seems to direct their action with surveys and focus groups, instead of asking content creators vis-a-vis what kind of improvements they'd like to see.

P.S. calling people "elitists" simply because they like a thing won't win you many friends, nor convince a lot of people about the validity of your arguments.

Nobody seems to be talking about? I literally said in my post that the most obvious option would be for people to be able to share unlocked decals...

And regarding my Elitist comment.

I think it's well known there is a small hardcore part of the painting community who would be very fairly described as being elitist. The very people who are against the use of outside programs and svg. uploads.

Only because they don't want it to be made easier for the average player to create things only they can be bothered to do now.

My use of the term elitist isn't that of an insult but a simple description of their behaviour

Nobody seems to be talking about Ride 4's editor.

I've been involved with the painting community for a decade now. If there is a community that's as open and supportive to newcomers, I'd like to know it. The whole idea that there is a "painters mafia" that's against any change that would turn the editor into an easier-to-use or more powerful tool is absolutely ludicrous and comes from the same two, three Youtubers who are absolutely uninvolved with the Forza community at large, and live by manufacturing outrage with misinterpreted facts and outright lies. I won't name names, but you probably know the type.

And the whole idea that "it would be easier to paint with an .svg tool" is, imho, quite removed from the truth. It would certainly make easier for experienced graphic designers to approach the paint editor (and use their libraries of assets), and it would obviously be an appreciated addition to the paint booth. But it's ultimately a pain in the arse to work with if the only way to edit a logo is to boot up the PC, fire up your vector editor, and then re-upload it to the dedicated website and re-download it in game. It's ultimately something only Gran Turismo has done so far, and I suspect it may have to do with their game's technical limitations as much as it is a deliberate choice.

As for the infamous importer tool - the main reason most painters are against it is because it's crap. It's pretty much useless for logo- and typography work; it is a bit more successful in recreating photos, yeah, but they only look good if you're squinting your eyes and take a ton of layers, plus they require to be "cut around" - which is why you don't see anybody creating liveries with that, only slapping a picture on some car and calling it a day.
Personally I think it would have been better on PGG's part to just publicly ignore its existence, and/or treat it like any other similar tool, instead of making a tweet about it. The novelty of it would've worn out rather quickly.

In the end, every livery editor creates a rasterized texture. When you're painting a car, you're actually just pasting shapes on a 2D image. The 3D interface is an abstraction, because we're all obviously too stupid to conceptualize a 3D shape unwrapped to a 2D image, so they don't allow us to see it or edit it.

If you could edit the 2D texture directly with shapes or raster tools, with a mouse (or even a pen device) on PC, I think a lot of artists would have a much easier time. There have been console games with an in-game 2D tool. It's not prohibitively difficult compared to what Forza has already.

Of course, as expected, Microsoft is much more concerned with cracking down on liveries than changing anything about how they work. I believe EU law is helping twist their arm, and subjecting us all to strict moderation in game livery editors to avoid penalties.

You can share logo's now but what an earth is the point of you cant share the finished livery once you are happy with it. Makes no sense.
I think this dates back to older Forzas, as I believe back then, people were able to make healthy amounts of credits off their liveries (probably still can to date, never bothered to check). I suppose, the idea was/is to keep people from using a combination of using others' work (since the vinyls/logos/etc. are free) & then trying to share the livery for money. I still feel the easiest solution to this is for the system to recognize you have "3rd party decals" & therefore, whilst you can share the livery, the system will not allow you to gain any cr. for each download.

Maybe it's drastically changed since I last made any effort-wise attempts at creating a livery in a Forza game, mainly Motorsport. Today, the only thing I've done is offer up a VooDoo II Edition ACR livery that seems to get a couple hits each week for 100cr. or so.

I just finished the Playground games event in 2 out of 3 games: king & flag was played, infected was not played. It was a 1vs1 again (as it pretty much is all the time for me) and I won the King & Flag games, then it ended with me being the winner. I think before the series 4 update this always played in full length even if after 2 games 1 side already won?

Good change IMO, don’t need to drag on this (boring) mode any longer than it’s needed.

Great news, Less time getting that out of the way the better 😊

I like the current livery editor.
The reason is simple. Console players and PC players are equal, there is no additional cost, and there is no disparity in production environments based on whether or not you can afford Adobe's expensive monthly subscriptions.

Inkscape?
I've used both, but that software and Illustrator are not the same. It's like saying a Rolls Royce and a Corolla are the same because they have tires and can travel to their destination.

Not quite equal, insofar as PC users can use 3rd party apps like Glass2k to make copying things significantly easier. Not to mention the other automated method which can copy a detailed photo.

Seems they broke manual with clutch, holding clutch fully in and car still drives away  edit, nope it's my clutch that ain't , fairly new set of T-CLM's

I'm doing a lot of seasonal PGG (more than I should) and I never had a 1 vs 1. I want a 1v1 too!! Yeah, we also won in 2 events. Now they only need to put infect 3 opponents as a daily.. that would be fun.

Anyway Italy got lucky in this championship. Even those that hate it will sure use the LM002 for every single event. Why.... wasn't the Dino a much, much, much, much, much, much better choice?

Now I'm sad. Thankfully the NIO can make me a little bit happier. Seriously the car is a beast. Wasn't sure if I wanted it since EV, but after the first corner I was in love.

Anybody else liking the new Festival Playlist? I sort of like that the PR stunts aren't part of it anymore, since the requirements were too strict on the cars or class you needed. Another is the reduced points, and the fact that the new cars are the first you get again like in FH4. There is several more I would like to include, but I think what was said is more than enough. I imagine they are doing this as some sort of test to form opinions from us all. I want them to be encouraged that this is the way to go for the playlist before the end of FH5's life. 👍

The PR stunts will return next series. I am pleased they reduced the requirements for the exclusives as well, less time spent doing the playlist. Maybe it will be enough for me to do something else within the game and not the normal of playing long enough to get the cars and then moving on to other games.

I think it’s way better as well. It’s nice to get on the game, and not feel like you have all this work to do to not miss out any cars. I have a weird work schedule, I work shift work and sometimes a lot of 12 hour shifts, so I would plan to do most of the playlist on my days off, now that’s more time to enjoy the game in other ways, when I do have time to play.

Are any of the Chinese cars in the game yet (not counting A.I.)? Could be that it doesn't show until the cars are accessible to the player.
Well owning a Chinese car in game is possible since today (I have the NIO EP9 unlocked as you can see on the top of the screenshot) but there still is no option to filter on Chinese cars. No big deal at all to me, but I was in the patch notes. Seems to be a bug @ManteoMax

I just unlocked the EP9 as well, first impressions: this feels and sounds a lot like a Rimac but with only 1 gear. 😅 I strongly doubt it will become my favourite EV in FH5 though, so far that’s hands down the Rimac. I like the looks of the Rimac a lot more than the NIO, plus I also prefer the EV’s with 2 gears.

I feel like Italy has the best super car selection. I really like Ferrari and especially Lambo in the horizon games. However for all around variety from the lower classes all the way to X class, I feel like it’s really hard to top the Porsche/Mercedes/Audi/BMW combo of German Engineering. That I’m 95% from German ancestry may or may not have had a part in that decision as well.

My choice is still the Taycan. I'm still using it from time to time. It's just that this NIO feels... I don't know how to say it properly.
This Monthly location, Estadio Circuit, I know pretty well. But in this car is like I forgot how to take corners. You can really push it around corners. It just feels different, and I like it.

I decided to get the photo out of the way, and driving the Camaro counted as me picking USA. I couldn't decide anyway between UK, Italy or Japan so I don't mind.

But in the long run it won't matter anyway, as whatever country wins we all get that bonus car, right?

As I understand it the country we pick just adds to some points total, or can we pick different country cars for different events and it's only the Forzathon that locks in the choice?

I want to believe that we can pick a different car/country for each event and Forzathon's will change each week to represent a different country, but I'm not sure.

If this is anything like the Secret Santa event, it won't matter anyway and we all get the reward.

I get about 1,000,000cr per week from paint downloads.

One time I didn't log in to Forza Horizon 4 for about 6 months, and when I came back I got a mail gifting me 30,000,000.

Once you get past 50,000,000 (which isn't hard when there are people actively buying cars for 20,000,000 in the Auction House; I sold a Peel P50 within 5 minutes on Monday) your money may as well be infinite, especially if you only use 1-2 cars per class like I do.

I don't need to do designs "for the money" (although it is nice to have it roll in) because if I wanted to spend 12 hours on something and get rewarded, I'd make a YouTube video or do my actual job where I get "real money".
