From my perspective, I feel that's been an issue since #1. Felt much more noticeable in #4 with the environment staying consistent than #5 w/ the different biomes.Agreed. It's a good game with a lot going for it, but my nitpick with it is that the environments and details in the world don't really feel lived in? Like, it's scenery and it's cool being able to go from environment to environment but there doesn't seem to be as much "worldbuilding".
But, I don't think I can knock the game for it as the developers are maybe more focused on delivering environments with enjoyable routes than something that feels livable because I think FH5 delivers on that aspect very well. I love that route at the top of the map that runs alongside the train.
