Agreed. It's a good game with a lot going for it, but my nitpick with it is that the environments and details in the world don't really feel lived in? Like, it's scenery and it's cool being able to go from environment to environment but there doesn't seem to be as much "worldbuilding".
From my perspective, I feel that's been an issue since #1. Felt much more noticeable in #4 with the environment staying consistent than #5 w/ the different biomes.

But, I don't think I can knock the game for it as the developers are maybe more focused on delivering environments with enjoyable routes than something that feels livable because I think FH5 delivers on that aspect very well. I love that route at the top of the map that runs alongside the train.

FH1 had more distinct and sprawling cities, in my memory of it. That, and iirc there were plenty of signs and other items that advertised businesses. Could just be the nostalgia filter though.

Maybe it's my memory that's faulty but I don't recall FH1 having any cities, let alone sprawling ones.

Bad word choice on my part. Mostly suburbs and towns, but they were more visually distinct to me than going around the various sections of the Mexico map.

I remember a dam and a deserted power station but most of the people were gathered around the festival site as far as I can remember. Maybe I should try to play it again.

The big city was Carson to the west of the main festival site. There was also Beaumont, a ski village in the northeast corner of the map. Eagle Ridge was a small bedroom community in the south of the map. There were a couple other places like the mining ghost town to the east, Redfoot Ranch in the southwest, Gladstone Drive just east of the main festival site. The communities were fairly well spaced out.

The oddest map for me was England. I didn't hate it or anything. I just thought it was odd that every town was on the perimeter of the map. Not a single town inside the map.

Carson and Beaumont are actual towns in Colorado, Eagle Ridge is a portion of Colorado Springs. Redfoot Ranch is a business as well. None of the were fictional, but a couple of the names were massaged (Eagle Ridge, etc.) into full towns instead of neighborhoods within a larger city.

Nice to see some familiar names from "that other place" turning up here! No ill wind blowing maximum rules.
Now, back on topic. It would be kind of hard for PGG to bring new cars into the game given the high car count. But it would be nice if they would at least "listen" to the gamers as they ALWAYS say they do. They could at least bring back the cars we've actually asked for. I think the most requested cars that have previously been in the Horizon games and are missing now are the Fiats and Alfas. We've got plenty of Vipers already.
wdym? fh5 alr like 50+ new cars in this game, including new audi and bmws. forza community are just ungrateful sometimes mate.

I see it like FH5 is like a kid with toys, their toy chest if full of duplicates, yet they always want the newest one. Especially the BMW/Audi/Porsches We would be better off with 1 from each generation, rather than one every 2 or 3 years of production. M3s and GT3s are the worst of the bunch.

Agreed. One of my complaints about the FH5 car list is that there are too many variant models.

We already have Huracan. So why do we need more "new" Huracans?
I know that Lambo, Porsche, Ferrari, etc. are popular brands, but if we were to add cars from these brands, we want completely new and unique models, not variants.
Don't need any more 458/488, 911 or Huracan variants, why not add something like Sian or Roma?

My assumption is because they don't have to make a new model from scratch. They just take what they have and update it hence new Huracan, 488 etc. Some people also like base model car apparently

It's even more lame than that. They don't (supposedly) have a full modeling department, and that most of the models are purchased from a 3rd party (flaws and all). This is from a FH forum mod, so take it with a grain of salt.

Because it's to please the supercar/hypercar fans. ANY variant of them HAS to be in it because the fans demand it. Stupid I know.

It's actually not that deep. Aventador SVJ, Huracan evo, Stang GT 500 and the new Audis, M8, were in top 5 (at some point) most requested cars on the official forum. It's what those who vote want.
So isn't it much better to go there and actually try to vote for your favorite cars?

We?

I don't mind variants of some cars. Huracan + Huracan Performante is fine, the Evo model on top of those was a bit much, in my opinion. I still ended up using it quite a lot, though.

The new Audis and BMWs have been my favorite (and most used) new cars, I wouldn't trade them for any "completely unique" cars. But maybe that's just me.

Honestly i don't mind variants of atleast current generation of cars (for eg. m340i/m4, civic si/type-r, 720s/765lt etc.) The huracan, mustang, 570s, aventador, 488gtb and the agera are the only ones that that have 3 or more variants (from the top of my head).

It's actually kinda true, if you look at the credits there are mentioned of Glass Egg Media (FH4) located in Vietnam. They are outsource studio that handle the car modelling. They also did car modelling for NFS, The Crew, CSR 2 among many others. I don't think they simply purchased it though more like tasking them to make model with Forza standards.

i'm sorry that colorado map isn't getting add for this update will be great
That's a lot of work to include for free. None of the updates have been on the level of a complete expansion which is what Colorado would've had to have been. And had they included it as paid DLC people would be complaining even more about recycling and copy-paste.

This is actually a completely normal practice - creating vehicles to a modern level of detail is so time-intensive that lots of external studios are brought in to help out. They don't just buy pre-existing models though (as it would be an IP rights nightmare), instead the external teams build new assets to the standards asked of them.

As with any outsourcing effort, the end result can vary greatly in quality, but that's up to the lead studio to manage and maintain. It's not unheard of for studios with commonly flawed output to lose the job, and often there are more senior art teams (especially at the lead studio) who do a final pass on all assets for quality assurance and consistency. Generally, any issue with a model has to have somehow made it through QA and even manufacturer sign-off, so it's not like outsourcing itself can be blamed solely for any perceived art problems in the final product.

It's not limited to racing games or art either, something like a new Assassin's Creed game may have 30+ different studios credited for their work, and there are companies that specifically handle particular difficult tasks requiring specialised skills, for example Synthesis who carry out localisation and dubbing for many publishers.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I find this comment hilarious
Let me set the record straight that your comment really comes off as insulting, and not hilarious. What McLaren said is actually honest.

Now, allow me to introduce myself. As you may have known (or not known), I used to be a Forzacentral user for quite some time until 2019. I've lurked around this site and wanted to be a member here, considering I was passionate with Forza and I appreciate variety, hence why I currently have a MG3 avatar for now. Wish me luck.

In my honest opinion, FH5 is a great game. Yes I'm aware of its flaws, and I'm disappointed that there are no new cars for Series 13. Especially no Horizon 1 exclusives, 'cause that would've been the biggest draw.

Im sorry but if you guys are complaining about the car list of Forza games than you don't like cars and driving games simple as that. It has everything from old timers, muscle cars, hyper cars, rally cars, spor cars,.... Its the most diverse car list ever greated with lots of new and old cars. And they are literally adding more and more cars that the community asks for. There is no single game that can rival the car list of recent Forza games. Sure they can still add more cars/car brands that you people enjoy, but ******** on its car list is just lame. There are like 500+ cars, if you can't find something to drive in the current car list than you can just stop playing racing games.

I like Audi/BMW/Porsches and im 30 so what? I actually love that they add each generation of those models so we can compare and enjoy the design changes and performance upgrades.
Sorry guys, I guess I just was never one to set my standards so low. Enjoy your game.
Show me 1 racing game with a better and more diverse car list than the latest Forza's that is not modded?

Good luck,

Looking at their post history they've had very little positive things to say about FH and they came over from the forums, which are as toxic as they come when it comes to fanbase and 'community.'
