Speaking of EV rivals, I have a question I've had for a while.
Why are the stock EVs in this game harder to drive than the stock ICEs?
In my experience in EV rivals, compared to ICE cars, these cars behave like they're driving on ice in corners, and I often find myself crashing into the barrier on the outside.

At first I thought it was because the stock tires didn't have enough grip, but then I've not had similar experiences at ICE rival events.
And crashes at these corners are clearly more common at EV events.
Is it because EVs are on average heavier than ICEs, many have only one-speed gearboxes, and the lack of engine sound makes it difficult to experience current speeds?

I think both Rivian vehicles look like a joint design collaboration between Stevie Wonder, Roy Orbison and their guide dogs, absolutely awful. My eyeballs hurt each time I have the wretched misfortune to gaze in their direction.

I swear if Medusa gazed upon them she would turn to stone herself just to ease the pain.

Edit: @WanganDream in my opinion the EV handling is down to the extra weight. As you try to turn the vehicle the laws of momentum are trying to push that weight in a straight line still.

Interesting to see a section for "Which of these hard-to-find cars would you like to see added to the Autoshow?" and the form lets you choose these cars:

1939 Maserati 8CTF
1962 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso
1965 Peel Trident
1967 Ferrari #24 Ferrari Spa 330 P4
1971 Porsche #23 917/20
1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer - DLS
2010 Aston Martin One-77
2010 Clio R.S.
2010 Ferrari 599XX
2018 Italdesign Zerouno
2019 Hyundai Veloster N
2021 Lamborghini Sián Roadster
2021 Rimac Nevera
2022 Extreme E #44 X44

Could this be a sign of possibly old exclusives coming to Autoshow in future updates?

Please don't vote for the Mini Cooper FE anyone... I think I dodged a bullet with that one.

Nothing against Leah Alexandra but I hope Charleyy Hodson didn't storm out in a huff... as I recall she has a young son to look after though.

I voted for the One-77 and the 599--and the Sian and Nevera. IIRC I also went for the Singer 911, the Berlinetta Lusso, the #24 Ferrari and the Italdesign--don't rightly remember what else aside from MAYBE the Trident.

This must be the first week that one of my Trial teammates was so slow that I ended up lapping them on a 3-lap race. No wonder it took us three attempts to finish on my second attempt (the first team couldn't even get that far). Maybe S1 Supercars wasn't such a good idea.

I noticed comments on the previous pages mentioning how problematic Eliminator is as a mode idea, which made me want to say my own thoughts on it.

I actually like the Eliminator mode, I honestly have found a lot of enjoyment in it since I started playing it on Forza Horizon 4. Just finding an opponent, challenging them or being challenged only to race to a random goal was exciting to me. I also like that everyone starts in one slow car and has to find faster cars dropped throughout the map or try beating opponents to gain their cars. In some cases, it can go either way even if your opponent has a faster car than you. They could be absolutely bad at driving and make too many mistakes, giving you an advantage if you're a more careful driver.

The last thing I found fun about it was also the fact you can make it to the end by not challenging anyone at all and just sneaking around the map. You can hide your car somewhere they least expect and your arrow will even go invisbile upon doing so. It feels like Hide and Seek, only with cars when playing this way.

So with the massive xbox leak, an interesing number has risen for forza which is 4.6 Million monthly users (includes all Forzas between 2014 and 2020):

Don't know how accurate this is, but this is for FH2,FH3,FH4 and Fm6/FM7.

Seems much higher than expected.

7.4 M people "engaged" with FH4 monthly on GamePass with an average of 12 Hours/month per person.

I think that's it right there. Many of them definitely lack a sense of speed.

Since they aren't that engaging with no real engine noise and usually no shifting, I wouldn't be surprised if some it is also lack of focus a bit. I know in FM7 I kinda ADHD-out in the Formula E cars and start looking around the track and twirling the camera around and looking at the minimap for dots battling and stuff sometimes while going down straights.

I don't know numbers off-hand so maybe I'm wrong here, but I feel like some of them (more sedans and stuff than the hypercars) are kinda under-tired? Like they are on skinny tires for low rolling resistance... but maybe they just feel like that because of the extra weight.

To add my two cents to the Eliminator topic as someone whose started playing about a month ago, while I've won four times in it already and thus had played it quite a fair bit, there are a few flaws within the execution of the concept, but flaws which have theoretical fixes that could be applied or atleast theorycraft with, anyway
  • Problem: Offroad cars like the Hoonigan RS200 being innately better than their road-going tier-for-tier counterparts due to the nature of the Eliminator's races. While this is negligible for low-mid tier vehicles due to their more common availability, if you don't have a similar type of Tier 9 or 10 car, you have to hope that the drivers that DID get such cars crashing into a tree or failing to land good after a jump
    Solution...?:
Aside from changing which cars are in the gamemode, let alone changing their Tiers, there's a rare occurence where a head-to-head race can start and end solely on the highway, allowing roadcars with high speed an option where they're viable. Something that could expand on roadcar viability is occasionally throwing in head-to-heads with checkpoints specifically for the Eliminator, to allow for races that aren't squarely just driving off-road. But admittedly, a problem with that kind of approach would be that it would not only require rewriting the code for how heads-to-heads work, but that it may also introduce an element of luck with "will I get a race that's suitable for an offroad car or a road car", unless one were to include a bias in favour of the cartype the player whose challenging the other is driving

  • Problem: You challenge a player, but it turns out you're pointed the wrong direction as the player you're challenging is already speeding off into the finishpoint behind you and is bound to win the encounter
    Solution:
Like the last part of the previous point, the simple-sounding fix to this would be to add a bias in favour of the player that is challenging the other, so that it's alot more likely to put the finish point of the head-to-head in the direction the former instead of the latter. Though of course, it should still place the finishing spot within the confines of the active area, and/or where it'll shrink. Another option, before the graphics with the playernames and vehicles pop up, throw in a massive "TURN AROUND, THE FINISH IS BEHIND YOU" warning graphic, especially as you can't trust the GPS and/or the voiceover

  • Problem: Drivers getting high-level car drops from the first minute and thus easily being able to build parthenons up to Tier 10 starting from a Trailcat while most other drivers are still eating acorns in Escorts and Golfs
    Solution?:
Heavily negate the "luck" aspect of the Eliminator by ensuring that cars of certain tiers cannot spawn as drops AT ALL until the arena is shrunk to a certain size. IE: Initially only Tier 2-4 car drops are available before the arena is shrunk, but when the match is almost at the final showdown Tier 7-9 car drops start appearing. But ideally, in a way that head-to-heads would still be the more readily available way for skilled racers to level up their car. As an additional option, include a sort of "risk versus reward" factor by spawning cars of a lower(emphasis on the -er) tier inside where the arena will shrink, but higher tier drops spawn outside the circle that the playable arena is going to shrink to. As an example: The area around Dunas Blancas where the arena is going to shrink to could spawn Tier 4-5 car drops, while the riskier area outside of it would have Tier 6-7 drops spawn, especially when the arena is close to, or has already begun shrinking, especially given head-to-heads already innately point players into finish lines within the circle.
Granted, it's entirely possible these ideas are all actually pants, and have already been determined to be pants by Playground Games' devs, but still probably interesting to discuss potential bandaids like these

The BMW iX is worse than that. Walk around one in real life and there is literally no angle of this car that looks stupid. The pignosed grille makes it even worse.

I'm not a fan of their looks either, but then again I see people begging for the Pontiac Aztek to come back or the Fiat Multipla to be added, so I guess we'll just have to wait 25 years and people will finally adore them as "meme cars" or something.

Just wondering, is there a limit to the backlog pages of event blueprints viewable or is it at will? Saying this 'cause I finally found a race I was searching for on a previous page and I hope it doesn't get de-listed after certain amounts of pages.

They're prizes in weeks 2 and 4 EventLab playlist events, if I'm not wrong (and I'm sure someone will tell me if I am).

Speaking of EventLab this week's events were a bit like Goldilocks and the Three Bears' porridge tasting scene for me. The Baja rally wasn't just the most fun I've had racing at Baja, it's the only fun I've had racing at that location.

While the Guanajuato rally was also well designed except for the trackside detail which kept trying to kill me like it was an Argentinian mountain stage, the remaining concrete tubey event was, well... the thing I liked about it the most was that it was very short.

Still, it's great being able to race against AI on user created tracks although I wish we could whack the difficulty up like in FH4. I just played a Japanese city track some dude made which was a lot of fun. Skyscrapers and stuff.

No such thing as a daft question bud. @UKMikey is spot on, you can also drive them as part of this month's Rivals events if you want to try them out early.

Thank you both, I clearly wasn't looking through the Playlist well enough. I've already tried them in Rivals, it's more for Car Completion but that'll be easy enough.

Roy Orbison wasn't blind or even that poorly sighted, at least when he first wore dark glasses. He forgot his glasses once when flying to the UK for a tour and was given dark glasses to wear as an emergency. It was so popular with the audience, he wore them at every gig afterwards!

God no, not another EXTREME E...!!!

True, but maybe the joke still works if you allow for an implication that there's something kind of David Lynch-ian about that truck.

Well it's true everyday is a school day. I always thought Roy Orbison was blind. I been doing some reading and his eye sight was poor from everything I've read @sirjim73 but you're 100% right he wasn't blind.

I was incorrect, he did need to wear glasses but as you can see here he could function perfectly without (short sighted I guess?).
Anyway, seems like You Got It.

On topic... managed to get on the Cloud and play the game! Seems like you need to wait for the "younguns" to go to bed first. 👍

Lot of options here...

Don't know whether you can share your choices with others, if so here's mine:

Knocked off work due to the lovely British weather being a bit wet and windy today. I decided to put FH5 on to play.....oh my God it's bad today. It's taking me upwards of 5 minutes a time to swap vehicles waiting for menu screens and the garage to load.

Sorry to hear that. I think I've been lucky this week in that I've managed to sneak my Horizon sessions in during the mornings before the majority of Starfield space cadets have got out of bed as I haven't experienced any long loading times yet.
