The confusing thing to me is why the Aztek is exclusive to Forza Motorsport 6, now THAT is a car that would get me to come back to FH5. No I'm serious, bonus points if they gave it a widebody too.
Now hold on... Some things can really go too far and offend people you know....

Argh, I googled some crazy Aztec customisations and I now accept that it could be OK in game as long as it got something like this:

or this:

But this? No!!! please no!!!!!

Looks like FH5 now has very poor optimization on Series S, since now I went back to the game just so I could get the Kona N - as I genuinely want it - and the game decided to execute an unforced, brutal crash to dashboard. I wasn't even on the car menu screen, nothing like that, but on normal gameplay. And the game panicked just because I was on a drift zone. :grumpy:

At this point I'm just throwing in the towel. Everything was fine until December, and now when I wanted to get a car I really want, half of the time the game doesn't want to function. I was happy until this happened. I hate these sudden crash to dashboard instances. At least give us an error message or something.

Goodbye, FH5. It was nice while it lasted. I think with the amount of cars we've gotten the Series S couldn't handle it anymore and bloated itself. Unless if I can get ahold of a Series X at any point in my life...

Sad.

I logged in last night to try to finish up the Weekly Playlist, and for some reason, there was a monotonous male voice telling me everything on the screen, likely an accessibility feature for visually impaired players. I went into the settings menu to try to turn it off and I couldn't find anything. Eventually the game crashed back to the dashboard. Two years in and I don't expect Horizon to have these kinds of problems. And yes, I'm on the S-Box, too.

Screen Reader - it's in Settings/Accessibility.

There's also a way to disable it globally on the console: Settings, Ease of Access, Game Transcription, "Let Games Read to Me".

If there is anything to go by, the downstream effects of a disastrous Forza Motorsport '23 launch likely have influenced the sudden drop in quality in FH5. I don't know much about those types of QA education but there were rumblings like this before. QA help in one other game over another is a fairly normal business practice.

Unfortunately, that ship has sailed for me. I, regrettably, chose to uninstall this game, not out of rage, but defeat. I know the whole mantra about never quitting, but if a game is poorly optimized, let alone be released on not only the Series, but also the base Xbox One, that kinda speaks volumes. Of course, I do understand why it was also given the XB1 release given the semiconductor shortage situation at the time, but still.

I will see y'all in FH6. It's a sad state of affairs, since I won't get to enjoy the fruits of the Cyberster or the VW Santana, unless if the next game goes to China (which is likely given the amount of Chinese cars we've been getting for quite some time now).

Good to know if it ever does it again. Thankfully when I restarted the game, it went back to my normal default settings.

Speaking of poor QA, the quality this season in Japanese is abysmal.
Some or most of the chapter messages are missing in Weekly Challenges for all weeks, and there is no way to know what to do in that chapter based solely on the information available in-game.
Do you mind taking some screenshots?

I'm curious as to how this is occurring for you. I bought a Series S off of Facebook for cheap, mainly as a streaming box since my launch day One is getting a bit too long in the tooth, but also for playing certain games in the evenings before bed. Truth be told, I've done most of my gaming on it in the past month and have never had an issue with it. Hell, on an unrelated note, FM8 seems to run better on it than the full fat Series X, probably owing to lack of higher detail the game would be trying to run at on there.

Feels like I'm asking basic tech support questions, but is your system getting enough ventilation? Crashes like that seem to occur when the console is saving itself from cooking it's own guts. That said, you usually get a warning on your screen if that's the case. If your internet is good enough, I'd recommend trying Cloud streaming if you have Game Pass. There is noticeably more lag of course, but for casual play (i.e. anything that isn't an online race) it honestly works pretty well.

I play on the Xbox Series S and the crashes also started in the early December update. They released a hotfix in December that didn't change anything, but it stopped crashing in last week's update. However, after yesterday's update it crashed again. It's not easy, they fix one thing and make another worse.

I know that the next season is still a long way off, but I wanted to ask what are your guess of cars in "European automotive". A new update and new DLC meaning probably at least 8 new cars. I created my list and if at least 2 or 3 of them would be confirmed it would be great. Give your suggestions and at the end we will see who hit best. :D

I'd say the MC20 is likely to finally make its way over. Since they like pairing up cars from the same manufacturer, we may hopefully see the return of my beloved MC12 alongside it.
I would love to the Morgan Plus 6 in the game. Hand built in Worcestershire, England.

And the return of the Weismann. I would love to see the MF5 back, but if Weismann do return it'll more likely be with the Thunderball.

I'm betting the same. To be honest, though, "European Automotive" is more likely to apply to the countries that haven't had themed updates yet--Great Britain, Sweden, France (to an extent) and Spain are all fair game, while Italy and Germany sit this one out because they've had their own updates in the last six months.

To that extent, I predict the Aston-Martin Vanquish, specifically the 2012 Vanquish rather than the 2001 V12 Vanquish since that was in the FH2 splash screen during Horizon Anniversary, the Bugatti Mistral, the Koenigsegg Gemera, the 2008 Saab 9-3, one or two EVs from Britain, and, to round things off... likely some Spanish oddity.

Of course, this is going to be a Series with four 40 point car weeks so I'm just goin' as hard as I can here.

RS Q8 and A45 were found in the game?

Aren't they more likely to bring the Aston Martin DB12, especially if it's in a car pack?

We may get the DB12 in a car pack and one of the older Astons through the playlist, like they have done in the past.

I do agree that we are more likely to get cars from countries that haven't had a dedicated series yet.

I did specify that France could be included to an extent because technically France had a semi-big update through Fordzathon--but that was literally a year ago, and Germany's most recent big update was through Horizon Creatives four months ago. German Automotive was also over a year ago, so I don't entirely count that one.

I’m also on the series S and don’t have these crashes.

I do have bad menu hang ups frequently though. Like going into My Cars just sits there, but if I hit the Xbox button it pops up.

I get those menu hang ups on my Series X occasionally as well. I use the same solution too.

My guesses are some cars that were leaked plus a few wild guesses:

A couple aston martins like the lagoda, dbx 707, a bentley flying spur, the long awaited mc20, some classic british or french car, a bugatti super sport 300+, some small eco or EV european hot hatch/sedan, and maybe some jaguar like the f type SVR that was leaked too.

I'd do some wild guesses based on the broader side of European automotive (French, Spanish, Swedish).

We already had a German and Italian automotive, so such vehicles won't be in this list, and British cars won't be part of the list because of... the fact they're not in the EU.

French:
  • Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+
  • Renault R.S.01
Swedish:
  • Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut
  • Polestar 1
Spanish:
  • Hispano-Suiza Carmen Boulogne
  • Cupra Leon

Car pack:
  • Bugatti Centodieci
  • Koenigsegg CC850
  • Peugeot 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport
  • Renault Sport Spider
