same but i don't have any way to take pic's:(

we need a forza 2 subforum, for when the full game comes. or move the original one in the xbox section over here?

I liked the demo. You can see where they cut corners to maintain 60fps. Graphics are not the game's strong point but the demo feels very good. Seeing my car in the game plus the Charger SRT8 now I know I'll kick the dust off my 360 and pick up the full game. If the menus are not as bad as the frist game I might be pleased with it. The track list still blows but I guess I'll get over it.

Would somebody want to make a leaderboard thread for the demo? I'd like to have a little fun submitting race times of each car.

Me too, maybe we could go by class though since running a leaderboard for every car would be a bit of a chore.

There's one leaderboard running at FM.net forums, based on the class. But it's not updated regularly (the 1st post i mean). Although some laptimes are just insane. Mine till now go something like this

C-Class
350z - 1:04.987

A-Class
Ford GT - 58.8xx

R2-Class
MC12 - 50.856

Have taken pics with my mobile cam too, although cant seem to find the FordGT time, but I can better it coz that was the first i tried..

You're telling me, the top times in C class are now in the 1:02s. Race-idiot, I find some cars fishtail a little too much and I'm using the wheel, sometimes it just doesn't matter how much or how little throttle it gives it just steps out without any warning.

The car has more left to give, but I'm too tired.

Well a bit more time with the wheel, driving only with one car (E36 M3) for a good hour's worth got me down to 1:04:169 - still not into the 1:03's.

Impressions:

-Seems REALLY hard personally to get consistant times, the car just feels wayyyy too edgy and 9/10 times will break into oversteer instead of understeer.

-After more time with the wheel, you can definetly feel subleties flowing through it although I would still prefer more resistance.

-Sliding is too easily brought on and too easily recovered, there's no real danger to pushing the car too hard since it needs such little control to bring it back on track. Also seems some of the fastest lines through the corners are unrealistic, which is to be expected I guess.

-Finding I'm putting VERY little steering input into the mid corner-corner exit stage.

Not gonna give up till I get a 1:03, don't see where I can make it at the moment though, but since someone has a 1:02.9 with the same car on this short track it must be something substantial.....

So far love the demo but the physics are much improved or FM1, but I do have a problem with the penalty system that I hope won't be in the full game in that if the AI car hits you from behind or the side you incur a time penalty.

What!? I thought I was done with that in GT4! Man....That's probably going to suck on the Max. difficulty.

it's not a slow you down penalty, it's the same as forza1, when you crash go off it comes up but doesn't effect you atall really.

It's for internet rankings so someone just doesn't cut every corner and get a super fast time.

No, as Joey said, it just determines where your online leadreboard times go, nothing else.

So what are people's impressions of the demo with the wireless Microsoft Wheel? I know its not that great but it appears to be the only option at the moment. I've noticed a few retailers have dropped the price of the wheel recently, making it much more attractive option (and its my birthday in a few weeks too :) ).

i hope it drop's price over here in within this week, i'm planing on buying it end of nextweek. my birthday's june 7th. axactly 1 week before forza2 release over here, so i'm getting forza 2 LCE and 1-2 day's off school for my bday;)

Please, don't waste your money on Forza.

2 important facts.

*The steering wheel is a joke, it looks and probaly feels like a plastic toy. It has about 1/4 of the rotation of the DFP/G25, so it can't even replicate the feel of all cars the way GT5 has the potential to archieve.

*Nordschleife is unrealistic. The kerbs are completely disproportion (too large/wide). Elevation is wrong in too many areas, as well has width of the track. This is partly their incompetence, and because they did not use GPS to measure the track.
GT4 ring is still the benchmark in everyway.

There is a perfectionist approach that PD take that I really admire. All the real life track use GPS measurements, with correct size kerbing. Knowing you are driving the the same width/elevations as the real life adds a lot to the realism/emotions.

I call bogus on that claim. Why?

Sure, it isn't quite spot-on, but I'll take it. The track is as realistic as it has ever been in Forza (or PGR for that matter), and they've done a good enough job putting their own spin on it to make it work. So what if the grade is off just a bit on hill 13, the kerbs are 7mm too wide, and the pain on turn 27 is forward by three inches.

...Get over it. At least the guys at Turn 10 have been able to deliver a game with a car list that keeps the fans happy (Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini), a few tracks that aren't (but should be) in GT, and indeed the most-important feature, ONLINE PLAY.

I'll gladly take the "issues" with Forza just for those. There isn't any need to go all fanboi on us here either... A lot of us are still a bit pissed-off about GT4...

even if all that was true i would still buy the wheel and forza 2
reason:
1) i have a ps2, g25 and gt4, gtr, lfs etc so if i wnat a 'real' drive i'll just jump on them

2) as it stand's the microsoft wheel is the best on offer till(if) logitech get's support. And i'm noy in the mood to sit around and wait for that to happen, and if it doe's i'll just sell my m$ wheel.

3) i really need a wheel to enjoy game's, and i'll be able to use it pgr, gtr and tdu etc, on the 360.

+ i have nearly won an auction for a $179.90 ebgames voucher (my current bid is $140) so that will cover the cost of the wheel, so....yea.

but thank's for your 'warning':)

I'm sorry YSSMAN, I want to like Forza 2, but that 'Ring is hilariously inaccurate. It's big, wide, and stretched out, like a warped OutRun2 version of the course made for 300km/h drifting.

Still, dan_gtp could use some practice at game-hatin'. Out of all of the reasons one could dislike FM2, he chooses the lack of a good wheel for the 360 (which is hardly the fault of the game, and irrelevant if you play with the controller) and the inaccuracy of one track. I could do much better. :sly:

Someone in another thread said the physics are similar to FM1, but I still want to try the demo.

Well, it isn't as bad as what it was in Forza 1 (I didn't think it was that bad...), and certainly it looks to be better than it was in PGR3. But of course it is hard to tell, especially when none of us have actually been on the track...

What makes things difficult is that so many of the videos of the Ring that we see are usually in-car, like this one:

For the most part, at least from what I can tell, Forza 2 isn't radically different from real life, but clearly there are some differences between life and the game (as it should be).

"Close enough," is what I like to call it.

I don't mean to brag, but...

You're right, though, it looks better than Forza 1, not that that's much of an achievement. The enormous curbs and exaggerated elevation changes seem to be gone, anyway.

lol, VERY nice, that's on my list of 5 thing's to do before i die, along with blitz it along the autobahn lol.

I wonder if anyone will release a game with the autobahn...? that would rock!

mabe the next tdu can be set in germany;)
