From what I can see now Australia wont be getting this until next year which is quite disappointing, I dont have most of the DLC packs so I dont mind buying this at all, just annoyed at why certain countries and regions have to wait months after Us and Uk. You'd think they release it straight away seeing as though we have a Australian Top Gear tv show and a magazine down here too.

Well it looks like I'll be importing this from the UK because from about mid November onwards I'll be playing GT5 (No fanboy here, I have equal love for both franchises), I love Forza 3 and I think its a great game, but GT5 looks really good and remembering from when I got GT4, I didnt open my PS3 for six months afterwards. I'd rather support Australian staffed stores but three or four months delay is not good enough.

Turn Ten probably should've released this a couple of months ago, probably would've been a bit wiser.

Wise and Turn 10 are two things that seldom go hand-in-hand.

I mean look at the Jalopnik pack - was promised for the Summer. What happened?

Now this "Buy the game again and get three exclusive cars as well, suck on that VIP members."

The single wisest thing they've done was letting She go.

To be fair on Turn 10 I think the marketing decisions like timing of DLC packs and end content is up to Microsoft's PR department. After all Turn 10 is the developer not the publishing department.

It actually makes decent marketing sense to release the game now. Think about it, GT5 is coming out next month and there is hype around racing games right now too with the release of the F1 game. Might as well capitalise on that hype. Plus you have the holiday season coming up and people will be looking for good gift ideas for the gamer in their life.

To be fair, you make a good point (one that was overlooked in my rage at having to wait 3-4 months). Its PR and marketing that make these decisions not the studio themselves. Stupid PR (and Im not just talking about Microsoft here).

How would you interpret this:

The first fruits of the Turn 10/Top Gear partnership will be found in the upcoming Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection. Here's the essential information:

Ultimate Collection combines the original Forza 3 disc content with all previously released car and track Add-on Packs.

500 cars total, including 10 cars that will only be found via Ultimate Collection.

Three of those 10 cars will be downloadable via a content card packed in with the game. Known as “Stig’s Garage Car Pack” the trio of cars include the Lexus LFA, the Koeniggsegg CCX, and the Mercedes-Benz SLS-AMG.

In addition to Stig’s Garage, we’ll be offering a free 90-minute Top Gear feature video for download, as well as an exclusive Xbox LIVE premium Top Gear theme.

The game will be on store shelves in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Germany in late October, and appearing elsewhere in the coming months.

Does this mean every previous DLC and 7 new cars will be on disc?

I think so. It's clearly stated that there's 10 new cars and 3 of those will be DLC with a code. To be honest, splitting up the 10 new cars is retarded. Just a wild guess, but the Top Gear pack will probably available to everyone for purchase just like the VIP cars. They want people to buy the Ultimate Collection so they keep those cars exclusive for a time. Then they sell the rest of the rest of the 7 cars as DLC to maximize the profit in a few months.

Just my theory. But as I said, it's better to just wait a few months and let the dust settle. Hard to say what we'll end up with at this point.

This is good - Ultimate Edition, because I don't download DLC in Live. GT5 + FM3 Ul. Ed. - good Fall!
DLC (not in disc), IMO, former use game don't have all cars and people by new box or DLC code apart...

Im pretty sure you guys will get this as a download in a couple of months, but Turn 10 are doing their hardcore fans bad IMO.

I think according to Game Informer or at least my GF waking me up, Its release is Oct 26.

The problem with that is that Forza 3 is nearing the end of its life as it is. It took a really long time for them to release the VIP packs for everyone else.

I'm going to buy it. If it's a budget release, I can probably get it for around £20 and I'll have physical back-up to the DLC. With the game allowing you to make your own creations, I think it's got a unique appeal where you might one day like to go back and look at the cars you created. I kept FM2 for the same reason, (I ended up having to buy three copies of that game due to red ring and then a burglary) so I'm not too bothered about having a second copy of FM3.

Yeah I think Im going to get it because my GF said she would finally play it with us!

Although it's good that they're finally releasing the DLC on disc so that people without good internet connections (like me) can play it, it's really idiotic to tease us by putting three of the new cars on LIVE. I got mad enough when I discovered they'd restricted me from driving the DBS in the original FM3, now they're restricting some of the cars again! This arrogant assumption by game developers that everyone has super high speed internet really annoys me. Sorry, but I just had to rant.

I agree with you partly. I don't think you can expect to get the most out of a modern console without a good internet connection. I do think however that putting 3 of the cars on the marketplace with a code, when the Ultimate Collection was supposed to include everything on disc, is a somewhat retarded decision. Why not just put everything on the disc?

Damn a crapload of dedicated Forza players are revolting against T10 for forcing early adopters to pay the money for the ultimate edition just to get 3 new cars. Many are planning on switching to GT5. A real slap in the face. And T10 has not responded at all in their blog and are just ignoring the problem. Seems like T10 has no passion forautomotives, but money instead.

Seems like some of the cars in the 10 pack such as the Lancia 037 was suppose to be released as DLC in the Jalopnik pack but T10 backed out.

T10 have a lot of passion for cars and the community, but not long after FM3 launched, for whatever reason, the community manager stopped posting and PR seemed to take over all the good stuff, instead of the devs updating the fans. The devs race normal players over live when they can.

for whatever reason, the community manager stopped posting

He got caught trolling a rival game and also telling blatant lies.

The gaming comunity ripped him appart after he was busted and he eventually "Quit".

To this day he still gets mocked for his lies at Neogaf LOL

They want people to join XBL and buy unused games.

Yes I understand that. But why put everything else on the disc except these 3 cars? If they want to go that route, just put in a bunch of cards and be as annoying as possible. The ultimate collection was a perfect opportunity to wrap up all the content on a physical disc instead of having to get some of it from the marketplace, again! I mean it's a friggin' budget edition, not a full price title. No need to keep doing these annoying redeemable cards for budget editions. Have mercy.

They don't come with the hammer. The industry slowly gets us used to the concept of revocable licenses instead of "owning" the game. But that leads us to another topic.

At least Turn10 has official forums where you can get (some) official support if problems arise. It's more than GT ever had. I hope this will change with GT5.

You can blame Microsoft, hell, you can even blame Turn 10 for that but either way one (if not both) of them are absolute morons. I'm not going to pay $30 for a game I already have, with all of the content I already have just to get 10 (3) lame ass cars. Do I actually think the cars are lame? Of course not, but in the context however....

Official forum, or no official forum....any and all criticism is deleted. You can't post links to "third-party" websites (Oh noes, a link to GTPlanet...what ever will the world come to when people realize there are other websites on this thing called the internet?). You can't express yourself without having your post edited for whatever asinine reason. You can't mention (that's right mention) any game in the Forza section except for Forza, and if you mention Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo, F1 2010....you'd better be prepared for a ban.

I may despise fanboyism for all it's worth, but damn at least you can talk about other games in any section here without the moderators stifling your thoughts because it isn't 'productive' or some 🤬 like that. Never again will I spend the additional money on "exclusive" content for any Forza because it's just going to be released on Live six months later.

Thank the internet for places like GTP, FC, No Grip, etc....

I'm glad someone's finally come to their senses regarding Turn 10's attitude towards the community.

Finally? :odd:

Just because I don't bitch about whatever they do in every single thread around here in no way, shape, or form does that mean I was never aware of how they handled themselves when the community was a concern.

Talking about other games on a single game specific forum is never productive. When was the last time you saw a productive Forza thread on GTP? Same thing would probably happen on the Forza forums.

Point taken. At the same time, however, that's missing the point: shadow editing someone's post because they mention wanting to try, or have played a demo of another game that's not called 'Forza' is beyond arrogant, and reeks of wanting to feel self-important as a moderator. Refusal to acknowledge that people play other games, or like/love other games implies that on any particular specific-based forum that you are to talk about nothing but this title, and that's that.

Last I checked the internet wasn't a concentration camp.

Had I been a member, and my posts were shadow edited...I'd just keep repeating them over and over.

I perhaps worded that post badly. When I say "someone," I'm not necessarily implying you in particular.

Indeed, it's better to just wait for Forza 4 instead... :indiff:

I don't even know If I'm going to do that to be honest. I was willing to put up with Forza 3 because I got bored with 2 relatively quickly. With this one I was able to go all the way to level 50 without batting an eyelid - the first time I had done so in any Forza as they all became rather boring once I was in the mid-30's. With all the bs and lies they've been pulling since the second release....I'm rather doubtful.

Pretty much T10 is just pissing on their remaining loyal fanbase by not releasing those 10 cars in the marketplace to download.

It's only a matter of time till their loyal fanbase goes somewhere else at the rate they're going.

The Ultimate Edition can be interpreted in two ways, a quick money grab or a way to take away some steam from GT5 with the latter being a real pathetic attempt by T10 and MS to steer attention away from GT5.
