OXM UK article details shady group of Americans invading Czech soil to map its buildings and steal its goulash.

"We scanned the entire track and it goes down to sub-6mm accuracy, so it picks up little divots in the road surface, it picks up all sorts of details." This sort of faithfulness applies to both the new tracks and those brought back from older Forzas, such as the Nürburgring. "We do this for all tracks in the game. Even the ones we've shipped before we've gone back and rescanned and updated."

NOVEMBER GET HERE QUICKER!

And now I want some goulash.

Excellent. First really good news I have heard in a while.

So the Nurburgring XL is gone for good?

The article sure makes it seem that way.

Of course, that doesn't stop some design director at T10 from saying, "Hey, Ken Block can't Gymkhana through that corner! Let's widen it a bit."

Let's hope they fire that guy... out of a cannon... into shark infested water.

OK, after reading that^^ article and seeing a shot of the revamped Laguna Seca, I think I've got my sights set on the Xbox One. I'll figure something out about the internet connection deal. Spa's coming, all tracks laser scanned and staying true to their real world scale... any car/racing enthusiast would be a FOOL to pass up Forza 5!

As good as this all sounds, it means nothing to me if I can't use my current wheel with the XO.

While it has not yet been confirmed, Fanatec seems to have said their wheels will work with Next Gen consoles.

As a world-wide recognized brand of high quality peripheral devices, Fanatec is known for its cutting-edge technological innovation and high performance products. We develop racing wheels, pedals, cockpits and connecting accessories for nearly all platforms (next-gen consoles and PCs).

I do really hope that our current wheels will be compatible. It seems to have been stated elsewhere that an adapter is technically possible as well, as long as Fanatec gets clearance with Microsoft.

I tried resisting the temptation to get an Xbox One at launch, but I'm afraid I can't. FM5 looks too good.

Pity..

I can understand how being on the wheel, it may seem like a pretty big s*** sandwich to go back to the controller.. but surely it wouldn't hurt having to resort to it for a while. They've made improvements. 👍

It does look very nice, but I hope they don't abandon those that want a full experience.

This better not be another casualty resulting from their "focus groups".

Ok people after Gamescom I finally gave up Gran Turismo. Nothing has changed on PD's approach. I've heard Xbox One and Forza 5 can work without the unfamous Kinect. Is that true?

That is correct. The Xbox One no longer requires the Kinect to function (though it will still be packed in with the system).

That's great news. Hopefully Forza 5 will feature competitive AI and rock solid 60 fps. If so I'm sold.

60fps has already been confirmed, I think it was one of the first things we even knew.

Competitive AI.. We'll just have to wait and see just how good/bad this drivatar system is. If it can actually recreate some fast drivers then I can see it being the most competitive yet. We'll just have to play the waiting game.

Yeah, 4 long months of waiting.
What about compatible steering wheels? Is there a list yet?
The Fanatech CSR Elite made for Forza 4 will work with Forza 5?

Interview at VIDEOGAMER.com discussing the finer points (read: broad, non-committal strokes) of the physics engine in FM5.

But does that mean Forza 5 will boast a more impressive physics simulation than Gran Turismo 6?

"Just do the math. Honestly," Greenawalt replied. "I don't know what their physics engine is. I know what mine is. What I know is my approach and the amount of power we have in the box allows us to do things that we certainly couldn't have done on the 360 and we didn't do on Forza Motorsport 4.

"I'm not playing their physics, but I think it's one of those things where there is physics involved in just what we're doing."

Why would a 458 wheel have a clutch and paddle shifter? Like real cars, expect the 'manual' gearbox to die on peripherals too.
