Manual w/clutch was definitely a bit weird at first, but moving them to the left and right bumpers seems to be the most comfortable to me. It basically became second nature at that point. I'm competitive by nature, so whatever gave me the edge is the direction I tend to take. Although, I don't think I'll ever take off driving line because I tend to jump around to all kinds of vehicles, and try not to stick to one. That's just too much learning at that point

I wish the clutch wasn't such an on/off affair,
I have the clutch as a pull down on the right joystick, and it's definitely far from on/off with it like that. From what I gather, though, is that most people don't seem to like that layout.

You should all try the Ultima out without any assists. Its a lot of fun, but its also a lot of hard work.
I once took the Hennessy Venom GT around the 'Ring, and man that was an experience. It was definitely a blast though!

I have barely played FM7 also, but given this new update; I think I may be about to make a return myself. I had a quick go yesterday, I am pleasantly surprised. I also think the drift suspension will be a very good upgrade for racing as well as drifting, I see potential for it.
Some rivals, then? :D

I was wondering if the drift suspension would come in handy with racing as well. Glad to know I'm not the only one wondering.

Damn, I did beat my old time but that 1:40 is too quick for me :D

Well, I just made it harder with my Wagoneer. :D

Oh, definitely. Hell, would even be up for getting into a lobby and doing some racing too.

I tried it out on a stock Nissan 240 yesterday, the steering angle adjustment is a nice option from my limited testing. I only tried it at the Max and Lowest settings, but there was a definite change in how the car was steering. I can see lower steering angles coming into play in racing and hotlapping. But as with anything in Forza, try everything and leave no stone untouched if you want to be quick.

My assists set up has slowly changed over the years. Right now I use TCS because those high hp cars with a lot of torque still get me a little too sideways. I don't use stability control no more, that was a big crutch I used between Forza 4 and 5 but since 6 I've got used to not having it. I use sim steering, and assisted line braking only..and I use manual, my coordination just can't get used to pressing that bumper clutch all the time lol.

We'll see how that goes. I'd imagine that the time Im at work you'd likely be awake, and while I'm at home, you'd be asleep. Maybe on some weekends.

When I used an xbox control pad for racing with, I swapped the handbrake and the clutch over; so the clutch was on 'A' then. It makes it a simple affair with changing gears with Manual with clutch, as you just have to press the 'A' and 'B' button to upshift, and the 'A' and 'X' buttons to downshift.

Weekends is always the best bet.

How well it goes also depends a lot on the car class and division, drive train etc.
Right now I'm driving an Alfa Romeo Montreal tuned to C500, trying to trim another second off my GTP Memorial Suzuka Alt West Rain Parade lap time.

Back in the FM2/3/4 days I used ABS and TCS, but with the built in rumblers in the triggers on the X1 controller, it's much easier to find the threshold and as a result I've turned everything off. Only thing I can't get used to is the clutch, no matter how I try I can't get comfortable with it.

I did a test yesterday because I too was curious; I used an S14, only mods being race suspension and race anti-roll bars. Then did the exact same thing with the drift suspension, replicated the settings bar the steering angle, and found no major difference in lap times. The front end definitely felt different, but I don't think there's any significant gains to be made.

1 more thing that was fixed:
- The stripe colors were not working for some cars, now working (2010 Ferrari 599 GTO, The Ford Holden truck (forgot the name))

Special news report!: Oh my............God. Maybe this was always there but I didn't notice until today.
The 2002 Camaro 35th Anniversary Edition SS..........has an SS badge on the rear! I attached a screenshot, not sure how to imbed it in the message. There's hope guys!!

I don't think I'll ever be able to play a racing game with manual clutch unless I decided to go get a wheel. Pressing the clutch button feels awkward on a controller when I have to brake.

Heh, when doing a big e brake slide into a corner while drifting I will do the following all at the same time:

1.) Holding down the e-brake (b)
2.) Holding down the clutch, so the e brake doesn't stall the car (LB)
3.) Downshifting, so i can accelerate in the correct gear when i eventually let off the brakes (a)
4.) Holding down the gas, so when i let off the clutch the rear tires actually spin (RT)
5.) Adjusting my angle and braking distance by changing the pressure of my front brakes (LT)

Its a lot of buttons to push at the same time in specific orders, but that tap dance is honestly the most satisfying part of the game for me.

Sometimes i feel like my hands are pretzels

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not trying that. That still sounds like it would be awkward to use.

And I like to turn camera to where I'm going, so when I press gas, use handbrake and turn camera it looks like this:

Maybe I should use different bindings but hard to re-learn..

That's interesting. It's definitely on it in the garage (if very blurry and slightly off-center), but it disappears once you're on the track.

I think you just convinced me to finally get a wheel and pedal setup.

Haha.

I think that "SS" is baked shadow for SS-badge.. but the badge is missing..

Edit: and almost forgot, this is what happens if I like to down shift at the same time;

Well yeah, I guess pro drifters are not doing it like this and this is why I can't handle the car always when drifting :D

Any ideas of how long this game will continue to get updates? What you guys think?

We've still got the rest of the race regulations systems and experimental drag to come.

Do you think we could see support into Feb/Mar of 2019? Even longer? Or only a couple more months?

Nobody knows. There is at least one more car pack coming and the formula drift pack will arrive on both FM7 and FH4, which is pretty interesting. If they would drop every upcoming DLC pack on both games, i would be very pleased, but i guess that is unlikely. In any case, they have confirmed that prize crate removal won't happen until winter / years end, so i guess we will see some sort of updates until then. Forzathon and new rival events will surely be supported for many months to come.

This is a new situation for the Forza community, they could take their time with Forza 8, releasing it on the next Xbox console in 2020 or 2021 and continue support on Forza 7 for another year or two, including proper Expansion. We just dont know right now.

Definitely a new situation for us, exciting times ahead. I think it'd be cool if they synced the spotlight cars over from FH4 and FM7, would be cool to get a free car in both games. I'd also love consistent cross-dlc but that'd also be a logistical nightmare, I can see why it's limited to one-time things like FD and Hoonigan.

I would hope we get updates at least for the reminder of the year and more monthly spotlight cars. Then next year maybe they can do at least 2 Expansions including more cars, TRACKS, and add to career mode. That set up should definitely inject some longevity into Forza 7 for another year.

Hey do you guys remember back in the old Forzas how you can jump straight into Test Drive mode in the Upgrade Shop? Well Turn 10 just added that back into FM7! :D

For example: After building your car, you can press the "Pause" button and jump straight into the "Free Play" menu. I'm happy this is back, and the fact that it reduces your time of going through menu to menu.

Turn 10 are shockingly making good effort of focusing on FM7. :)

Edit: Oh, and it will also have "Test Drive" selected once you've chosen it as well. 👍

I must say I quite like the test drive with AI feature. It's not perfect but it can give you a good idea where you are performance wise. The AI also seems to respond a tad more realistically to collisions. I look forward to trying to get the Tamo competitive in A class this weekend.
