What big deal? I'm not sure why you're getting all upset. There was never any indication that there will any improved AI... I only wanted to share to everyone what I discovered, nothing more than that.

Why do you think I'm upset? I'm not. Anyway, you started out by saying:

HOLY CRAP!! There's a "Test Drive" mode added to freakin' Free Play....with Drivatars being on track with you at the same time with no laps or anything!! Is T10 serious!? It's like a Track Day!!

You seem super excited with all the capital letters etc. So excuse me for asking what the big deal is? Like I said, the test drive mode is basically normal racing without post-race rewards. How is that such a great thing?

It would have been more like a track day if all cars started from the pits and entered the track at random, resulting in big gaps and car clusters all over the track. It has been done in other racing games to great effect, but that's not what we're seeing in FM7. It's just normal racing without an end point and no rewards.

I can tell you was upset though. But anyway, sorry if you thought I made a big deal. I never intended it to be.

I mean you don't even need to use it, it's just another mode for anyone to use.

I am excited for it because it gives the opportunity to test and tweak my tune setups while driving with other cars, So I can get a better idea of how the tune handles in actual racing without having to complete a full race with a wip tune setup. Plus it reminds me of the Glory days of GT5's online track day lobbies.

Yeah I'm also digging the way test drive is setup now with ai. I was testing and tuning the AMR1 against each of the group C cars going around Spa. The only one to beat me so far was the Peugeot 905 and 787 but I had that Mazda until the end. I made a stupid mistake and lost control lol. Played with the down force afterwards.

I got the message saying the new track limit feature has been announced, but I see nothing from the update. Is there a way to trigger the update?

I hate feature roll outs in Microsoft games. I always get it 2 days after it goes live.

This is basically the reason why I got excited about it in the first place. It's a really neat feature nost of us never expected to be added haha. :)

You need to turn it on in the options menu through "Track Limit".

How can you tell? I simply asked you some questions for clarification and then you make conclusions about my emotional state? The only upsetting thing here is we can't have a normal conversation without this nonsense.

I know, but you can't blame me for being curious when you present your findings as if alien life had been discovered.

Ok, cool.

Those are still a thing in GT Sport, in case you didn't know.

That's what I asked you to explain. LOL.

GT5 was still the Glory days for me, As the friend I played it with nearly every day, his PS3 later died so he didn't get GT6 and we switched over to FM4. And I don't currently have GT Sport, It's heavy focus on Competitive online and lack of the robust single player of previous games turned me off as I am currently having to suffer far worse internet connection then I had 8 years ago when GT5 released.

I can relate. GT5 multiplayer was the best social online experience I've ever had. However, when forgetting the change of direction for GT Sport, the custom online lobby aspect still works the way it always did, and the car and track list steadily gets updated to catch up with the old games at no extra charge. It's shaping up nicely after the lacklustre launch.

Guys I think they also snuck in a tweak for faster or correct gear shift animations. Ive tested several cars and I swear before the update some were either slower or some gears were missed but now those seem more accurate and faster. Idk I hope I'm not wrong, anybody else test this?

From what I am seeing the game is shaping up nicely, I'll likely pick it up at some point after I can get a better internet connection so it doesn't take me a week to download the updates.

You need to turn it on in the options menu through "Track Limit".

The option is not there. The game displays a new version number though, version 1.133.8511.2 this is different than what was there a day ago, but none of the changes are there. Just messages.

The good news is that with so many tracks and classes in Time Attack, even someone as slow as me can stand atop the leaderboard, at least for a little while.

True. Me too, at least for a little while.

It was good while it lasted.

Heh, i remember doing this in the Forza 6 days. I think i actually got a top 3 time with the F1 car on a full lap of the rainy nurburgring. The thing was, there were only 2 other clean laps. So i just took it super slow, stayed clean and my time shot all the way up into 3rd place.

I was able to find it at the very bottom of the HUD options in the pause menu. You can toggle between “ribbon” or “markers”.

Personally I find ribbon is best since it’s just a constant line of the track limits while markers are like constant digital cones

Haven’t driven any other track but the limits at Bernese Alps seem perfectly reasonable.

My problem isn't turning it on. The option isn't there to begin with...

I must have the peasant's build of the game, or something?

I guess I will wait until Saturday to try out the features. Microsoft seems to send game updates to my area last, for some reason.

Yeah, you should definitely have "Track Limits" and "Track Limits Style" in between "Proximity Arrows" and "Data Out". Are you sure you actually got the new update?

I have no idea what I got. I didn't get a prompt to install an update, but when I turn the game on, I got messages about the new announcement, and then a message about the track limits and the free Aston Martin. But the car is nowhere to be found, there are no Drift specific parts in the Upgrades menu (I tried looking with a Silvia), and the track limits options aren't there. When I tried to run the Aston Martin Rival event, the game tells me that the content isn't available yet. All of this is occurring under a new (to me) version number of 1.113.8511.2. A couple of days ago I was running Version 1.112.XXXXX.X, so I thought this was the update and some how it installed in the background, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Are you on PC or XB1? Because on PC I usually have to force the update via the Microsoft Store (even if the version info is updated on the splash screen) while on XB1 is does it automatically.

PC... I guess I'll wait until the PC updates on Saturday.

Go to the Microsoft Store > Menu button with 3 dots > Downloads and Updates > Get Updates

It should start downloading after that.

thank you for posting that, I swear i was wondering why i couldn't see the free car this month

It happened. Again. Trying to install the latest update for FM7, download gets stuck at a random number and refuses to go any further, restart the console and continue update, gets stuck again, cancel update, somehow uninstalls the entire game. Again. It won't be till this weekend when I can play again.

I got the update and went to the time attack mode. Picked Class D and the Nordschleife at night. No one had done it yet, so I took it too carefully for a clean lap. And, for what I'm sure will be a very brief moment, I'm #1 in the world. (Edit: If anyone cares I used a Mazdaspeed Miata).

How can you tell?
What's the big deal then? I mean, when you get the exact same AI behaviour in a custom race event, there's essentially no good reason to use the test drive mode in which the driving isn't rewarded with credits and XP.
^ That isn't being upset?

Anyway, there is nothing "nonsense" about what's being spoke about here. I simply told you that the AI are no different to their racing counterparts. That was it.

You just decided to extend the coversation with the "What's the big deal then?" and thus here we are. We can have a conversation if it doesn't result into an argument.

That's what I asked you to explain. LOL.
Then maybe I'll explain better next time if it helps.
