I put the drift suspension into the F&F Challenger Demon... I burned through my rear tires in 20 seconds going sideways. I‘m normally not a huge drift fan, but this update showed me how much fun you can have going sideways

Might want to swap tire compound as the Demon comes with Drag tires, which wear out super fast.

Edit: HOLY CRAP!! There's a "Test Drive" mode added to freakin' Free Play....with Drivatars being on track with you at the same time with no laps or anything!! Is T10 serious!? It's like a Track Day!! Not only am I happy for the return of Class-based rivals events (aka Time Attack mode), I'm also very happy for this feature as well!

This here made my freakin' day man!! Thank you so much T10!!

Edit 2: Oh and while on track, you can still tune your car like in the current Test Drive mode! :D

Am I missing a setting? I'm in the pre race menu on the track, I click Test Drive on the Setup tab, but there are no drivatars on the track.

I think there is a separate Test Drive gamemode in freeplay now. Can't test it myself yet as I haven't finished downloading the update.

New drift mode makes things a lot easier to control, it feels a lot closer to drifting in Horizon. And look at that angle!

I couldn't care less about the drifting mode, but the return of time trials and the ability to save my free play setups is what got me excited. I'm starting to create race saves now, I did one with Holden Commodores and now one for Group C cars.

EDIT: I noticed 2 new forzathon challenges for credits. Good for me as I honestly haven't ever spent enough time on this game to build up a lot of credits like some users on here, I'm always playing around with other games.

So when you leave the menu screen alone for half a minute, it starts doing beauty shot animations of the car you're currently in, which at the moment for me is the AMR1. One of those animations is the driver's door opening and closing. Anyone notice how weird that is for the new Aston? It's like an invisible hand is trying to yank the door off, and then it disappears. And then it flashes back into existence in the shut position. Every other animation of a car door opening and closing is very smooth.

That's the way some cars work in the game, usually Le Mans cars without actual hinged bonnets/boots. How they normally work in Forzavista is that the screen fades to black and comes back with the part simply gone. What you see in the beauty shot animation is what the game is actually doing behind the fade to black - lifting the part up and making it disappear.

I'm not sure why it's the *doors* on the Aston that aren't hinged in the animations, but maybe they have some weird design I'm unaware of.

Good update but uhmph... we need to scroll through the 200 different ribbon/weather combinations that are not even sorted alphabetically? A filter would have been nice for this, can't find Mugello. :P

edit - ok i did find it, this is an absolute horrible list to find a track in. Apparently Mugello Full is in between 2 Yas Marina layouts and with Mugello Club separated from it (a bit further down the list).

This new feature absolutely SCREAMS so loud for a better UI. How about a zoomable world map with all the geographical locations, a bit in the intersection menu style of FM5 (or Battlefield 1 Operations mode world map) so that we can quickly hop to the tracks we want?

edit 2 - I can't even load Mugello. The game is endlessly trying to load a rival for it (there is at least somone who already did a dirty lap in A class on Mugello Full). Had to force-close the game to get out of it, I think I'll give rivals a shot this weekend then.

Got to say, this update is awesome as It did a lot of wonders. The Aston is fast and sounds good would probably compete well against the 787b. And being able to save custom race files is such a damn welcome. Already saved 2, one being custom can-am. This has probably become the top racing game out of the big 3. And plus no new bugs have popped up for once. Now all they need to fix is car sounds on several vehicles, gear shift animations and just a couple of hiccups here n there and it will be perfect.

There are also two new #Forzathon events too, which includes winning credits this time.

One being 300.000cr and the other 180.000cr.

Finally credits prizes in Forzathon, but those two don't really change much in terms of compensating for the endless grind. :boggled:

How exactly? Do the AI cars there behave any different to how they would during a race?

Time attack is in Rivals, by the way, I was looking for it in Free Play...

Yes, what's up with that? Free Play was in sync with the leaderboards before this update. Infuriating.

Holy **** did you guys see how much smoke there is now, it stays much longer and its like 3 times ticker and bigger

Yes, I noticed too.

The new Aston AMR1 is super competitive with the Mazda 787b. The Mazda is a little better in the corners but on the straights that AMR will catch it. Now to test it against the other group C cars.

Sorry for the late reply guys. I needed to make a run to the store.
WHAT?! That sounds pretty cool. Now I really wish I had faster internet because I want to try this, Others playing the game already and I'd be surprised if my download finishes before I go to bed tonight.
Ooooooh nice. Could pretend to have some Nurburgring tourist days too. Always wanted this feature, a nice surprise to say the least.
Believe me, I was also surprised myself when I found out about it. A very good feature that needs to be added to online play as well!

After you selected "Test Drive" in "Game Type", select "Start Race" and there you will be driving alongside other drivatars. Hope this helps. It's so freaking cool! :D

I think they should play like they normally do, like in races for example.

Lots of people on the official forums are complaining that the track limits are too severe... Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but did they fix Indy and Hockenheim?

Love that the cars make more smoke with burnouts. Also, I must be missing it but where is the open airfield track?

Edit: Found it. Wasnt working initially for whatever reason.

That was my first impression too when giving it try. There were instances where my laps went dirty despite keeping two wheels on the asphalt at all times.

What's the big deal then? I mean, when you get the exact same AI behaviour in a custom race event, there's essentially no good reason to use the test drive mode in which the driving isn't rewarded with credits and XP.

I'm guessing people are so used to abuse some spots they're now complaining because they can't do it anymore.

That wasn't the problem in my case. I never kept track of corners that could be abused to take an advantage on lap times. What I notice now is that some of my laps have been marked as dirty without me quite knowing where the mistake happened.

I see. I'll have to give it a go when I finally get back from work, see just how much it has changed. Next logical step would be time penalties, but we'll get there when we get there.

What big deal? I'm not sure why you're getting all upset. There was never any indication of there be improved AI... I only wanted to let others know what I discovered. That is all.
