Forza Motorsport 7: General Discussion

A misty morning at Silverstone. A full grid of LMP1 cars roll around the final corner of their out-lap. Tensions rise in the paddock as the drivers near the start finish to start the race. The steward waves his flag as the noise of more than twenty engines erupts into the British skies. All goes well as everyone makes it through the first few corners in one piece and start their respective battles for position. Several laps go by before more clouds settle in and dense fog envelops the track, we can only apologize for the poor visibility on your screens today. But what's this!? One of the competitors has stopped mid-corner, what kind of malfunction could have caused this? Engine failure, or possibly electrical problems judging from the lack of lights on the car. The pack rounds the corner and the leader has barely any time to avoid the stricken car but manages what his pursuers can't. They hardly seem fazed though as they seemingly pass through the unfortunate participant. The next lap passes in much the same manner, the one after that however, a mistake is made. Running wide coming into the corner the leader runs square into the back of the stranded vehicle, causing a horrific crash its velocity carries it into a front flip. Who could surv.... *hits rewind button* It seems the previously stationary car has managed to get going again, and is now rocketing its way down the straits as its taillights disappear into the fog.

I've run into several bugs so far, but this one had to have been the creepiest. Though possibly this was just because of the lovely British weather I had in the race. I don't know how the AI got stuck, but apparently the rewind function messed enough with the physics of the game to confuse it back into action. A nice change considering it usually sends them skidding into a corner if used at an "inopportune time".

I wish they would fix the glitch that deletes stripes/accents/etc. on factory colors the instant you try to add a custom color. The Superleggera is a perfect example & has been there since FM6; repaint the spoiler to carbon (which is another old issue), and you lose the stripes....

Since we're talking about paint bugs for a minute.
Same here, it bothers me that I can't paint my own Gallardo's spoiler carbon without getting rid of the stripes.

Though I’m enjoying the dynamic time of day changes, on some tracks feels weird, at sunrise or sunset, surrounding lights in buildings, track lights should be on, but are off.

Driving on Long Beach with the sun almost set and no lights on anywhere felt a little bit like a power outage or dawn of the dead.

If I could have a little bit of control in free play would be good, having the option to TOD to be true night (no rising sun or sunset), true sunshine (no rising sun or sunset), or Dynamic (could be sunrise or sunset, or middle of day or night depending on what was selected (day/night))

Speaking of paint glitches, while transferring over my older designs, I ran into an issue with my 4C. As far as I can tell, it was due to the colour-tinted carbon side mirrors. I've since tried to tint them on new designs and the functionality is gone. :(

I've had problems with headlights not turning on for night races. While doing the Forzathon, one of my races was at Nurburgring at night. I couldn't see anything. Just red taillights and pitch black. My only choice was to follow the cars ahead of me. By the time I got to the carousel, there was just enough light from the rising sun that I could make out the white lines along the side of the track and I could finally start racing. And yes, I was in a car with headlights that should have been working, the Porsche 550. It would be nice if there was a manual switch to turn lights off and on.

Yeah the game really needs a choice out of the time of day settings that we currently have. I personally don’t really like racing during a sunrise, so it’s bit annoying when the game forces that on you sometimes. It doesn’t bother about not having a choice in the career mode, but I’d like to be able to choose what I want in custom matches.

Two weeks ago Chris Forsberg was telling us his car was going to be in GTSport, and tonight he's talking about Forza...

And for the trigger happy people, he's talking about Road Atlanta and not his car, which I doubt will be in another game.

I had that happen in a Huracan ST around Le Mans (in an online race!).

More recently I've seen numerous day/rain races where the AI have headlights and I dont

Its a known issue online, just dont change your car when a night track comes up, iv seen it happen just for entering the garage and backing out again without changing car.

You can choose the time of day of races in Free Play. I changed my night race at Nurburgring GP to daytime for the exact reason Populuxe Cowboy mentioned.

Is anyone interested in setting up a regular or semi-regular casual racing series? I haven't really had any good multiplayer racing in hoppers and I'd love to try out racing with a set of custom regulations like FailRace's Turbo Tourers series in FM6.

I think a weekly time/slot for racing would be fun. Doesn't have to be structured like a Championship or anything, we could just pick a Division and race that for a few hours.

Would need at least 10 people for it to be worthwhile though.

Im allways in for some good clean casual racing, if its just not too late for me to stay up and play. Doing the week days i stay up till about 10pm.

How would people feel about doing this on Mondays, start from 8pm GMT?

I can create a thread to help co-ordinate this, and people can hop in and out of Lobbies whenever they please. It’d basically be a “Custom Public Lobby”, like what we had in Forza Motorsport 4 :)

If we can get around 10 of us together that would be a good spread to give everyone a good opponent or two at their skill level, and the more the merrier.

Maybe we even vote for what Divisions to use, once the thing gets popular enough.

I have a :gtplanet: question first however: Can thread creators remove/change polls on a thread after they have created them? If we’re going to vote for Divisions each week then it would be nice to use the native tools.

I'd be up for that, 8pm Monday would actually work very well for me. Drop me a mention if and when you make the thread, or I can try and help coordinate it if there's nobody who's already experienced with organising events like this willing to help out.

Im up for it,but im away for another 1-2 weeks due to work,so...im only randomly playing atm :(

Alrighty, I’ll make a thread later and tag people.

As mentioned, it’s just a casual session, jump in if you can and no pressure if you can’t :)

Welcome to Casual Racing Mondays!

This is a place where people can spend an evening on the track together without worrying about the more negative aspects of racing against the general public. There are no professional championships here, we simply hop into a private session, pick a car and shoot the breeze for a few hours.

Event Format:
  • Each week we choose a single Homologated Division or Class to compete in.
  • Lobby opens up at 20.00 UTC
  • Each race will be roughly 5-10 minutes long.
  • People can hop in and hop out as they please, there's no need to stay for the entire evening.

Event rules:
  • Clean and respectful racing is the most important thing, we're here to have fun, not to fight :)
  • Headsets are optional.

So, these long races. I was doing the Off Road Buggy series. Nice 7 lap races. I get to VIR and suddenly I get 20 laps (2.25 mile course fortunately). It must know my dislike of VIR!

So, if memory serves correct, we should be getting early access to the December pack this Friday, yes? Can't wait. :)
I wouldn’t assume that just because Month 1 had that schedule that all months would have.

Don’t forget that the Car Pack was rolled into the Xbox One X Update, and having that update available a few days before the console launch meant that people could download it to their hard drives and transfer it over immediately.
