Car list reveals have really slowed down recently, don't you think? I'm starving for more car announcements, and presumably the last three circuits. Hoping for Daytona, Sebring and the New York circuit (not Watkins Glen, but the NYC city street circuit).

Hakone is really the only track I'm interested in seeing now, but it looks like they'll be showing us that one last at this rate.

I think I saw the Hakone start/finish sign in one of the videos they brought out this week.

Yup, 47 seconds into this one:

If I may ask another question, was there anything mentioned yet that pertains to something like Forzathon? Is Forzathon well received? I liked the idea of it giving you some things to do to work towards a prize. I haven't been able to scour over all the little tid bits that have been released lately. There's a lot going on.
I enjoy doing the weekly and monthly Forzathons even if I now sell the cars I "win" to pay for others so I'd like that feature to stay.
I still use some mods when I'm racing but only to increase my payout. I could live without it.
Same with the rewards and specialty dealer, I used them to get discounts but don't need them to progress through the game. So many games now include options/incentives to fast forward your way through a game. That's OK for achievement/trophy hunters and completionists who are not repeat players but I like to slowly work my way up in driving games. Damn, I even completed the FM7 career grind except for the extra long Spa event.

I'm guessing that what the cross platform game save compatibility actually means is that even if you buy a Steam copy, it's going to use the Xbox cloud save facility rather than the Steam cloud save facility. I'm not 100% keen on this, because the Steam cloud saving seems massively more robust and transparent in its operation, unless the Xbox cloud saving has been improved since I last played an Xbox store version of Forza on PC. It's certainly a nice feature to be able to carry across progress, I would have appreciated being able to take my Xbox save across when I got FH4 on Steam, but it's a double edged sword if the downside is having to deal with the frankly terrible Xbox cloud saving. Or maybe they'll find a way to make the Xbox cloud saving transparently integrate with the Steam client and give the same quality of user interaction, I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I immediately did the 26(?) lap Spa event as soon as it was available. With the AI on Pro or whatever the next one down from Unbeatable is. That was a good payout and XP points. lol 😂

I think they will show during Tokyo Game Show, Xbox always does a live stream with annouciaments and trailers during TGS

New York circuit (not Watkins Glen, but the NYC city street circuit)
I dont think they will show street circuts at launch since their focus is in clean racing
Glen have chances to show up tho

From the article:

When I saw Forza Motorsport at Summer of Gaming a couple of months ago, I came away a little disappointed. Forza’s pedigree of having some of the most gorgeous visuals of any racing game is well known, and while the latest iteration of Motorsport undoubtedly looked good, it lacked polish at the time. So as a long-time Forza fan I’m pleased to say that Turn 10 has done a lot of work and after a behind-closed-doors demo at gamescom showing the game on the Xbox Series X, I walked away happy. Forza is definitely on track.

Importantly, it also looks like a promising return for Forza Motorsport after a six year hiatus, with its brattish sibling Horizon hogging the limelight for the past few years. And while Forza Horizon does outrageous arcade racing better than almost anything else, Motorsport promises a proper racing simulation experience that many, myself included, are desperate for.
Although Nurburgring was the big reveal at the show, the demo showed off Italy’s Mugello circuit, which has a long straight and along the start-finish line and a series of tight turns and a hairpin in the final third. With 20 tracks on the way, each reveal has had me intrigued to see how the team plans to offer a wide variety of tracks that each offer their own unique racing challenges for seasoned sim racing fans. With Nurburging and Mugello added to the list, that leaves only three more to be revealed.

They were driving an Audi RS5 in a new game mode called the Builder’s Cup. Challenge the Grid is something that allows you, as a racer to set your starting point on the track and the further back you’re placed, the more bonus XP you will earn. We were racing against other Audis, Mercedes and BMWs. I loved that the aim is to earn XP by racing as cleanly as possible, so for every perfect overtake and apex you hit, you earn XP. But clip the side barriers or another car and you lose out. It’s an idea I’m really interested in – I really got into Gran Turismo 7 when it came out and bought a steering wheel set-up to get the best experience, so I’m looking forward to learning how to get the most out of each car, pushing it to the limits around each track without making a mistake.
The XP leans into the Turn 10’s philosophy of Level, Build, Dominate that they mentioned during the demo. The idea is that you pick a Builder’s Cup, choose a car, and then take that vehicle from factory-spec to a mean machine. It’s a strategy that I like because I imagine I’ll learn the ins and outs of a vehicle and really get a feel for each I choose to drive.

Although only three cars were on show in the demo, Motorsport will launch with over 500 cars, from supercars from Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche to classics like the Aston Martin DB5, to the V8-electric hybrid Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. Many of the cars return from previous Forza games, but over 100 new motors are promised too.

And it should be noted that the Forza Motorsport team has committed to continue supporting the game post launch with monthly content drops of some kind. That may not be in the form of new tracks, but it is nice to hear we will have something new to look forward to after launch. The Forza Horizon team added Rally Adventure and the Hot Wheels expansion to Forza Horizon 5, the latter of which was a very fun way to learn a little bit more about the cars we all grew up playing while leaning into the whimsical tracks. I’m excited to see what they have cooking up for Motorsport.

But based on what I saw, it’s Forza Motorsport’s presentation that really impresses. Back in June the development team said it was targeting 4K, 60 frames-per-second on the Xbox Series X, and if this demo is anything to go by it’s totally hitting that number. It’s fast, smooth and very impressive, and I cannot wait to get behind the wheel this October.

In the buildup leading to the new Forza Motorsport game launching on October 10, details have been steadily trickling out from Turn 10 Studios about the reboot of the long-running sim racing franchise. New tracks, new cars, a new safety rating system, and even new physics are on the way, but fans have noticed one glaring omission: the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The famed circuit won't be ready in time for launch, though it will come later in a free update. And we now know why it was delayed, courtesy of Dan Greenawalt, General Manager of Forza Motorsport.
In an exclusive statement to The Drive, Greenwalt explained the delay of the legendary Nordschleife after it was featured in almost every Forza Motorsport on day one, except for Forza Motorsport 5.
"We know how important the iconic Nürburgring GP and Nordschleife are to the Forza community; especially in modes such as Rivals and Time Attack," Greenawalt said. "In addition to both being completely rebuilt for Forza Motorsport, we focused on the Nürburgring GP circuit because of how well it fits into the vision we had for the Builder’s Cup career mode as well as Featured Multiplayer. Both of these modes focus on shorter sprint races as well as pitting and qualifying in the case of Featured MP or practice in the case of Builder’s Cup."

"I can't wait to drive my Ordee RS5 around Laguna Sekka and that track in Africa... whatsitcalled..."

I think Destin needs a briefing but at least he has a wheel now. Kinda glad the plummy voiced narrator is back to teach him how to pronounce things as the guys at the Cafe were text only.

Preordered it from Amazon.

I dont have an xbox series x but I will borrow my brothers one. Plus im planning on getting Ps Vr2.

So we agreed to do a borrowing swap. Instead of him buying psvr2 he can use mine instead of me buying an xbox series x I can borrow his.

I feel like it would be great to go back to FM.

This'll sound a little silly but I'm hoping Hakone is a spectacle track kind of like the older fantasy tracks, it'd be great if it was a nice drive too though.

I've done the 23 lap race but not the 69 lap version.
I 'm sure they will include endurance races in FM 2023 but I hope there aren't many over one hour that must be completed.

I did the 6 hour Spa in ACC's career. That's about the longest I want to do there. 😂
I hear you. I like 30-40 minute races in sims because stuff needs to happen. Like tire wear, fuel, pit strategy, AI mistakes. But ya, a more casual experience is welcomed.

By then the game would have already gone gold and most content would already be revealed. Tokyo Game Show is September 21st to 24th.

the vision we had for the Builder’s Cup career mode as well as Featured Multiplayer. Both of these modes focus on shorter sprint races as well as pitting and qualifying in the case of Featured MP or practice in the case of Builder’s Cup.
Looking back carefully at what Dan Greenawalt said, I focused on this part and especially what I highlighted in bold. I fear that in the Builder's Cup, there will be no qualifying or pit strategy, but only practice. At least according to what he said, qualifying and pitting are only present in the Featured Multiplayer mode. I hope I'm wrong or maybe there are at least some Builder's Cup races in the game that include qualifying and pitting. It would be quite disappointing to see only sprint races, without qualifying and pit strategy. I mean, racing is also that.

But I'm afraid that there really is little hope especially with regard to qualifying: that option, Challenge the Grid, if also present in the Builder's Cup, will serve precisely to allow you to decide in which position to start... The problem is that in reality you DON'T "choose" where to start from, but you have to be good on the flying lap, qualify well, if you want to start from the front.

Damn, I don't want to think that an option like Challenge the Grid is really enough for them... Let's give us at least an option like "Superpole", if they thinks that a proper qualifying session could be boring. It would be so thrilling to have only one flying lap to qualify!

This might be a hot take but I feel like saving qaulifying for multiplayer is right move, that’s where the more hardcore players will spend most of their time so it obviously makes sense to have qauily

Singleplayer generally speaking is a more casual experience, so sort of fast tracking qualifying with “challenge the grid” keeps the singleplayer campaign moving. It would be great to have both options but for simplicity sake I understand why they went with challenge the grid

It's a tricky one. It might have been nice to at least let players choose to qualify and get them used to the race weekend format. But with my experience with PC2, it can kill the actual race.

It's tricky tricky tricky. I've a feeling that they might have decided it'd somehow hurt the game's popularity amongst more casual players. If the only way to get a competitive start position is to git gud and put in a flying lap in quali, and if for some reason people are unable to do that and start at the back of the grid all the time with the new AI, causing them to finish the race in P16 or P17, then a good chunk of players will probably be lost to T10 due to frustration.

To me I think a good compromise would be to confirm AI backfill in private multiplayer sessions. Make it easy for the player to set up a one player online session against AI and they can learn qualifying, race rules, everything without the pressure of racing strangers or having to find like minded racing companions.

They could even enable rewind if there's only one human player. But I guess at that point they may as well have a full race weekend or championship single player option to simplify things and they don't want to do that for some reason.

I think the best option would be to allow players to choose whether to do a full race weekend or not. If you want to bring as many users as possible to this game, from casual to more experienced players, you should offer more choices. It's okay not to "impose" qualifying (even if, as far as the difficulty that some players might have towards the AI is concerned, well it would be enough to lower the difficulty in that case), but at least leave it as an option for those who instead want to do a full race weekend.

Apart from this, as I said before, Greenawalt also spoke of pitting as something reserved for the Featured Multiplayer mode. And that's honestly bizarre too. Especially if it is true that the duration of the races can be scaled up, in laps or by time, to have longer races: pit strategies would then be an important aspect, why eliminate it?

Someone can tell me that Forza is not a real simulator, that it's more a kind of "simcade"... But, aside from the fact that Esaki is always describing this Forza as a more realistic experience than in the past, in so many aspects, it must be said that even the main competitor, Gran Turismo, despite having given up qualifying, at least still has pitting also in offline races, not only in multiplayer. If Forza actually removes pitting from the Builder's Cup career mode, following the path taken for example by Project CARS 3 (which we all remember was heavily criticized for this), it will seem to me like a step backwards TBH.

Fingers crossed anyway... I'm still very hyped for this game, I have high expectations, so I hope not to be disappointed.
