I have a feeling they won't do an EV as the cover car, that'd make quite a few people angry.
Mind you, one of GT7's cover cars is an EV (the Porsche VGT). Interestingly enough, the McLaren P1 and the Mercedes-AMG One have been the only hybrid cover cars in the entire Forza series.

Doesn't the wec game from MSG have rights to all LMh?

Doesn't Microsoft have $69bn burning a hole in their pocket to spend on smaller studios now they're not getting CoD? Why let EA or Sony take MSG for their licences when they belong in Forza versions?

They probably will. MSG will take it because they love money. Forza will put it in as a car pack just like they did for porsche every year till 2017. Or they can go to individual manufacturers and license the cars in that way. I think Toyota and GT have a similar deal for the GR010.

Also that 69B will probably be spent on expanding studios or starting new projects. It absolutely won't be going to FM. If it is going to any forza, then it will be horizon because it has a better return of interest.

Also LeMans celebrating 100 years, forza needing a cover car (probably exclusive and new) makes me think it will be a special edition.

Good thing Ferrari has an LM ready (Its a hybrid too! Absolutely matches the lower emissions thing that xbox is pushing):

Which coincidentally is launching in a month starting with 'J' and ending with 'une'.

They haven't lost CoD yet. It has only been blocked by the UK so far and is being appealed. There is also nothing stopping the licenses from going to multiple franchises.

Yeah, but one racing franchise (Project Cars) is long gone. So they should've changed it.
It being gone doesn't change the fact the IMSA cars are featured in the game, which is exactly what that says.

That's one hideous car I must say, it'd make perfect sense for it to be the cover car though.

Forza is losing 1/3 of its locations so the LM24hr may not even be in the game.
I think the IMSA calendar (about 10 tracks) + big names (Nurburgring/Suzuka/Le Mans/Silverstone) + 1 or 2 Forza Lore tracks + 5 new Tracks will be the composition of FM's 20 tracks.

So far, we have:

  • Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
  • Hakone (new)
  • Kyalami (new)
  • Laguna Seca (IMSA)
  • Maple Valley (lore/fictional)
  • Silverstone Circuit
  • Suzuka Circuit
  • Mid Ohio (seen in trailer, IMSA, new)
  • Nurburgring (seen in trailer)

I’m expecting this to be like FM5 when it launched.
A BETTER, FM5. Since this one took longer to develop due to T10 building up a new engine for their reboot, hopfully it turns out to be spectacular compared to that (and FM7 at launch day) at least.

How many times have they managed to convince people it's a new engine at this point? Every time they claim it and every time we see the same old bugs dating back 15-20 years, come on man. There is no new engine, not at Turn10 and not at any other studio. You're always building on top of your previous work, The Last of Us 2 has some code dating back to crash bandicoot, Starfield has some code dating back to Morrowind. Of course saying it's an upgraded engine doesn't sound as cool in marketing, but that's the reality of any software development.

After watching THAT Phil Spencer interview (haven't you? If you are an invested Xbox/Microsoft PC player IMO you definitively should), more than ever, FM has to be that game that turn things around for Microsoft. I'm not counting Starfield because that that started development way before being acquired, FM is from a native Microsoft studio game.

FM needs to be a technical/critical triumph at least, sales be damned, and has to use the potential of the X/S to the fullest, because to date, there is no exclusive Microsoft game that I feel accomplishes that, not even FH5. And it has to be a model for all other Microsoft- owned studios.

Could it be that the game itself is done but they're optimizing, as much as they can, to push performance and be a leader for other studios?

T10 was kinda the only xbox studio that pushed each gen of console for max graphics while locking both resolution and framerate. 1080p60 for all FM games on the Xbox one and 4k60 for fm7 on Xbox one x. They probably want to keep this crown among other studios. Bethesda is going to be buggy as per usual with starfish too and it will seem like all xbox first party games are buggy and not that pretty.

Because overhauling graphics and game engine for performance improvements is much harder post launch, than adding content.

I agree on the amount of cars and tracks, will be similar. Maybe a few extra tuning parts/options based on recent FH5 additions.

I think FM will likely move to locked Racecar classes for online play like we see by it's competitors which is a good thing. Probably same classes and similar homolagation as FM7. From my understanding we will also get more tire models which will hopefully result in more competative classes and racecars. The biggest question for me is if RWD vs. AWD will be closer since there was a large gap in FM7. Just simple differences like these will make many much happier online. I still go back to FM2 when it comes to parody. Seemed RWD/AWD were very competative not to mention Aero options. I specifically remember being able to run non-aero builds on short/medium tracks and being competative. Meta's varied between AWD and RWD track to track. I don't feel like we currently have this.

Offline I have no idea what to expect for career mode. It's always been kind of bland. Also no idea what to expect for microtransactions. I'm sure they will be there but how is a good question. Availiability of certain care and if they will incorparate a FH5 reward system. Career mode probably has the most room for improvement.

I've always enjoyed the franchise and still play FM7. Not a fan of the FH series though. I'll be pretty easy to please with the exception of having to wait so long.

At least, carlist will be much bigger. Not sure about 360-era cars, but One-era cars are good enough. 500 at launch seems realistic.

This game will have more Cars than FM5 and FM6
It will have similar number of cars of FM4 (around 500) AT LAUNCH with many many cars to come

About tracks, FM4 had 17, FM5 had 14 at launch, this time we will have 20 AT LAUNCH with more to come

Fm4 has only 17? Damn I thought it was more like 25. Guess nostalgia really hides a lot of stuff. Like autovista supporting only 25 cars (I really liked the kinect integration for it).

So if forza is the face of Xbox this year then that means starfield failed to deliver which raises the question of what did Microsoft do to have this game fail to deliver?

Well after what happened with Redfall (which by all accounts was a self-inflicted wound) and what Phil Spencer stated later, IMO it falls to FM and Starfield to carry the banner for the rest of the year (heck, Starfield will have a showcase of its own, I don't really recall any of those for any of the native Xbox franchises), and no more missteps can be afforded.

Forza 4 had 24 tracks, not 17.
