Forza

Have you ever tried powersliding in pgr2? It feels the same in forza. And driving a P2 ferrari was easy, should it be easy?

you don't have to try to powerslide in PGR2. it just happens.

so you're saying that it is very drift happy? Hmm... something about the tire physics? I'm kind of confused.

either way, that's not a good thing if you're out for a fast time.

edit: maybe you just suck? :dopey:

the powersliding feels so pgr2 for me. And when I hit the rumble strip, the car hardly bounces and I can ride all over it. I hear in the latest gt4 demo, you can't do that or you'll be kissing the wall.

Well the S controller does suck with driving games, the gt4 wheel spoiled me.

you could ride all over the strips in GT3. in prologue as well. You could pretty much even ride on the grass and maintain composure.

I rather like the triggers. I'd say it's much more intuitive than the DS2 for driving games. But yes, the DFP is a force to reckon with, no pun intended.

Madness. Best pad for driving games because of the deep triggers and superb analog stick. And please, the GT wheel isn't quite what people make out, it's hardly realistic.

*bumpy bit*

*electronic wirr left, electronic wirrr right*

It is pretty good, but I guess I prefer pads my self, less setting up etc.

well gt4p is nothing but the 03 e3 gt4 build and gt3 was a rushed job in my opinion. knight, code, I suggest you 2 go to the japanese demo thread and see what folks think of the latest gt4 demo. Sounds like gt4 has gotten serious in realistic physics and car sounds.

got to be kidding me :indiff:

car sounds

Odd, BMW demo sounded pathetic.

The wheel probs seems realistic if you've never driven a real car, but it's abit..meh. OFC it is the best wheel out, no denying that.

From what I played of the bmw demo (yes I used a wheel), it's not in the same league as GTR in terms of "hardcore-ness", but it is pretty cool, certainly better then GTP.

yeah, I really haven't heard much impressive stuff, sound-wise.

Does anybody have any audio clips of the japanese demo?

Those el-capitan vids had pretty embarassing audio for the cars. When the channels were used up, which happened whenever the camera had all cars in a relatively close shot, they would create that "spray can" effect on the audio. You know the kind when the exact same sound effects are used at almost the same time? Really bizarre.

I don't get it, do PD ACTUALLY record real cars :P I swear I've seen shots of em with recording equiptment, but they must sample it using spectrums ;). Broken spectrums.

I'm not asking for much, hell I don't even expect EXACT sounds as there are so many cars, but at least give the sounds some GRUNT.

The game reminds me of Toca Pro Race Driver 2 on the Xbox, handling and looks wise.

sooo... then it's good?

I find the graphics very dissimilar to TOCA. maybe it's the bright bloom lighting that smothers everything that makes you think that. TOCA actually has better car models, IMO, from the screens and vids I've seen so far.

I believe this new demo is a step up from the bmw one. Plus there are better cars in it, just check the thread out.

You know to be honest I didn't notice much difference in Engine sounds, but i'm not running it through my hifi. Barring during the replays and outside the car camera angles, mostly when you play the game you hear windnoise and transmission whine. Although if your sitting behind an RX-7 now you can really tell it's an rx-7.

forza :dunce:

forgot how pretty RD2 is in places :D

Forza or GT4?

Gt4.

What I meant was, the opponent cars engine sounds now actually seem to sound decent. In Gt3 they were a tad detatched from the car.

tad?

anyway that's cool then.

I find GT's car audio inconsistent. Some cars have engine sounds that are generic and muffled, others sound like they properly should, but all of them suffer from a wierd "detachedness"; like they just cobbled together the matching audio data with the vehicle. As if they recorded them with varying conditions and different equipment.

I like audio to go with the fantastic graphics. Sometimes, it makes all the difference between a good game and a great game. GTR, for instance, would have had a much lesser impact on people if the audio was weak-sauce.

again id like to stress that ive never said that forza is actually a better game then gt4. just that some elements of the game are more sim like ...
An important aspect of making racing games is finding the right balance between the limitations of controllers and even steering wheels and realism.
GT has always had a pretty good balance even if it didnt live up to its driving simulator label 100%
personally i think Forza have gone over to the simside abit too much to be accesible to a large public. Its certainly got quiet a steep learning curve

chances are ill spend more time with gt4 if it works on kai or has online, simply coz its easier to pickup and play and alot more of my real life friends will have it.

If anything Forza does raise the bar for future GT games and hopefully it will continue to provide competition during the next gen

Try that, it's a bit bad quality.

That sounds very simmilar to R34's i've heard in real life.

I know what you mean though, GT3 some of the engine noises were spot on and some of them were just blah. The Griffith sounded good, the Skyline sounded good and then you got stuff like the Viper GTS-R and it sounded generic.

I want this demo. How do I get it?

Have you played the gt4 bmw demo or the latest demo? If not imo you aren't in the position to say forza is more of a sim than gt4 and according to another member who has played forza and the latest gt4 build, is more realistic than forza in physics.

I've heard that the Forza demo may be on Decembers X-Box mag, i'll give it a go so I can compare the two demos.

which member? tiptop? he sounded angry.

TBH Gt games are usually toned down in terms of realism, hell it's doesn't even have tyre heat etc. Don't get so worked up about it cobra, the fact that GT is accesable is a GOOD thing imo.

it wouldnt be nearly as successful if it wasnt.

Exactly, I play GTR, and I slam in to the sides etc, but at least on GT I can relax abit, take corners abit faster then mehbeh I should etc. It's nice. It doesn't mean it's not realistic, it's just more forgiving. Forza just seems to be going abit more "hard core" (though that may be a bad term to use) in terms of it doing tyre heat etc etc etc.
