If you think GT4 looks better than RSC2 then you are blind. PERIOD.
If I was blind I wouldn't see the difference. imo GT4 looks more realistic and too me realistic = beter with racing sims :)

visual has nothing to do with physics. GT4 uses low-res texture and missing anisotropic and Anti-aliasing. RSC2 is far more superior in every VISUAL aspect. now car physic is something else.

I'm not talking about physics.
I'm sure RSC2's graphics engine is technically more advanced but if they use a wrong color pallette or whatever it looks less realistic. And I think GT4 looks more realistic than RSC2, and because it's a 'simulator', realism = better imo.

I have the GT4 demo at home and RSC2 and I completly disagree with you on your statement. If you ever played RSC2 your would know. You guys needs to get an xbox and judge by yourself because RSC2 has the WOW factor. GT4 doesn't

You're missing the point. I have played RSC2 and it did wow me abit but not because it looked realistic... same with a lot of PC games like Doom3. Now Half-Life 2 looks very realistic sometimes and in some places it has a high WOW factor even though it's less demanding of your sys than say Doom3. :)

Btw in the backfire thread, NavyAD posted a video of a Celica driving on the nurburgring, in the first couple of seconds I thought it was real. :)

I have to say, RSC2 certainly does have a wow factor about, it looks ridiculously nice. I mean Gt4 is nice, but RSC2 is so much clearer, so much sharper, and detailed. OFC it doesn't look more realistic, but it makes up for that in other areas, such as the frankly stunning cars, with LOADS of detail, stunning lighting, massive tracks, with heaps of detail. It simply is one of the best looking console games I've ever seen. It looks 5 times better then forza, yet runs at a solid 60fps. The rain effects in it too, are just...., and the way leaves etc are kicked up, class.

So when you say superior, you mean like the fact only one car has a shadow moving on track, the meh draw distance with fading in and out? That's superior? I'm not trying to diss rsc2 but you are over doing it.

Yea, that new vid indeed looked real for a second. rsc2 looks amazing, no one here is saying it doesnt but it just doesn't look realistic and some like realistic visuals, pak and myself and we find gt4 to look better than rsc2 and saying whoever thinks gt4 looks better than rsc2 is blind is just bias.

*holding the stopwatch to measure the time until code_kev says that cobragt is biased again* ;)

Hey guys, i rented RSC2 the other day with my game pass, trust me.......THIS GAME KICKS MAJOR ARSE!!! Quite frankly, it p3wns gt3 AND 4 in EVERY ASPECT, and it is an arcade game! The graphics are sick, just get it and play it till you die! they are so much better than gt4's shotty detail and half-ass textures...i mean sure it *looks* real from far away, but rsc2 just has something in it, the detail, the way the leaves move, the birds flying from the middle fo the track, the lighting through the trees, the BUMPS and SENSE OF SPEED....the way the small treees flow and the branches snap as you drive over them...i'd take rsc2's graphics over just about ANY racing game EVER

RSC2 does have the best graphics I have ever seen, but I wish they used more "life-like" colors, a la GT3/4. Someone else described them as "watercolors." But even as it is, it by far has the most detail I've ever seen in a racing game.

Umm the draw distance on the game is huge, but it does have issues with some objects fading in, I think this is because it streams the tracks or something. No games perfect cobra.
Can I also point out that I never once said it looked as realistic.

But it does look sweet :)

btw this is a foggy track, so no smart arsed clipping remarks.

It also has the best looking tyres I've ever seen in a game. :D

I love the draw distance on the nurb in gt4. Woot, you can see down that 1 mile long straight. It's amazing. I know no game can be perfect but ranting is still good, you should know code ;)

Cobra I think your confused. RSC2 DOESN'T have draw distance issues, it has LOD issues. As I said, I think it's a mixture of the streaming technology, and the fact that the xbox is being really pushed.

Are we playing the same game? Rsc2 doesn't have impressive draw distance imo. Things fade out and fade in. It's very odd to me. Maybe I shouldn't have said draw distance problems but the fading in and out isn't impressive.

Cobra, the only things that fade in and out, are things like cones etc, scenery and stuff, you can see that FOR FRICKING MILES. The simple fact is, this games pushes the xbox, all that detail etc, at 60fps, something has to give, and it's the cones. The LOD problem is hardly as noticable as you seem to be making out though.

Real time dirt effect...

Playing rsc2 right now, night time race, pitch black, foggy and snowing. It's so damn difficult! First time round I slid into a wall, all my lights broke, and had to retstart race as I couldn't see where I was going :D

Got wrc3 recently too...pathetic tbh. Plays like crap. That's a game with REAL LOD problems, your next to a pole, you reverse a bit, it vanishes.

This will be the fourth GT game (in the US, we didn't get "concept"). Polyphony Digital has been honing their skills and refining the series for seven years, now. There's no way Bill Gates and Co. can come in out of the blue and hope to be on the same level. Sure the game will be better graphically, but when has the PS2 ever been able to hang with the 'Box?

I've always viewed Gran Turismo as a labor of love. Kazunori Yamauchi LOVES cars and it's shown through every game. Microsoft can't match that.

Forza will be to GT4 what 'True Crime' is to 'Grand Theft Auto' and what 'Killzone' is to 'Halo'. It'll be a good game with some nice innovations, but it won't be in the same league. :P

RSC2 was developed by DICE europe. I think they would be insulted to hear your description of every developer that isn't PD.

Polyphony digital is not the only talented, hard-working, enthusiastic game developer out there. They just get a lot of press about it, just like Bungie, Valve, and Hideo Kojima's Konami division does. Surely, they deserve it, but you can't just dismiss the rest of the field automatically.

Am i supposed to be impressed when an Xbox game looks that flat and jagged?

GT3 looks better than that.
