Huh? PD never claimed that the car would have any graphic representing a car part that holds the wheel onto the car? I am confused now.

Turn 10 is the one that claimed it has modelled visual suspension parts in FM3, PD never said they modelled visual suspension parts in GT4. So pointing out GT4 didn't model it either means nothing to the point about FM3.

I wasn't talking about who said what. I was just saying, it looks like that car never had anything to hold the wheel on, in any game!

Just too funny looking.

That car is a beauty:

Now really - with models this good - how can Polyphony Digital ever top this?!?!?

I really thought they were pictures of actual Ferrari F40's!

Make them look that good while you are actually playing the game is a good start! I don't think we can get that on the current gen consoles though.

Don't they already look like that while playing?

There can't be that much of a difference between the replay graphics and the gameplay graphics, can there?

From what I have see, quite a bit different. Then again, that is the case with every game I play that has bullshots vs. what's on the TV.

You should read more in the GT boards i think.
The only thing thats different compared to the 2 pics with the F40 is the aliasing, which you have on almost any console game in movement.

But if you would now take the exact same scenes in-game, they would look on par.
A lot of direct feed captures also prove this.

Can i ask you what screen you have? 720p? 1080p?

EDIT: hardvibes, which do you mean? The 599 pic or the F40s?

Reading boards doesn't change the appearance of the cars on my screen. They look nothing like those bullshot images. I have read plenty of boards on GT though.

I have a 52 inch Samsung 1080p TV. Here are some pics I have taken:

I will be on after 3pm CDT playing the game. Maybe you could join me in the game and tell me how to get my cars to look as good as those bullshots.

You know it would help if there were pictures of PROLOGUE in there bogie.....

I know...I just got Prologue. I haven't taken any yet, and I am at work right now. I can take some when I get home and upload. Those were just ones I had, and I was just showing him what TV I had. :)

Your TV should be good enough to show the same quality (its actually a pretty nice screen).
Ive got a SAMSUNG 2493HM (24" monitor) which supports 1080p and yeah... it looks like the F40 pics.

Have you set up your PS3 really to 1080p (it should do it with auto detect for itself but ive heard from some people that it didnt on their set) and do you have Super White and Fullscreen RGB switched on (in the PS3 settings)?

I am at work, so I will check all that stuff when I get home. I will pull this post back up and get that info from you. I am pretty sure I do though. Not sure about the Superwhite and fullscreen RGB. I do know that I installed the latest firmware in the TV last month, and I used a Sony Studios BD disk to calibrate as well.

Yeah, for $2200, it better be a nice screen...else I will be pissed off! :)

I have super white and full range on (the RGB stuff just since a couple of weeks, i tested it first in GTAIV and there it looked kinda ugly, but it looks great on all other games and BDs lol), the cross color reduction is off i think, i couldnt spot a difference tbh. lol

@Bogie: Well maybe its just "you" and you dont think it looks that good because of aliasing and shadow flickering, but bear in mind that the screenshots are static images. Some screenshots are bullshots btw. because of added 16xFSAA and some lighting corrections, but most of the pics released are a good indication of how the game looks (in standstill without flickering).

That 599 pic you used had its "own" thread in the GT5P board and i noticed there too, that it looks worse then what i see while playing the game.

Yeah there was a massive difference when i turned full range on, which coincidentally, was when GTA4 came out. I have just put superwhite on and seen no difference, maybe my TV don't support it (1080i/720p hanspree what i 'borrowed' from my parents house while they were on holiday back in 2007). I'm going to test the colour reduction now. Thanks for the info.

It's the typical Playstation vs Xbox battle. The Xbox is weak to it's core so it has to be strong on features (selling the sizzle by pounding people into submission through advertising of various sorts). The Playstation is a juggernaut at it's core, but is relatively weak on features and advertising dollars. Or at least SONY does not want to spend the money like M$ does. Forza will remain limited by it's hardware until the next Xbox comes out. THEN we will have a fair fight.

The Xbox and PS3 are both equally weak, and are hampered by 512mb of RAM. Both GT and Forza will remain limited by it's hardware until the Xbox 720/PS4 come out.

I think that this is your problem, by my experience you can get a much more lifelike picture by yourself, choose a tv presset exclusively for GT5 and play with the settings until you get the perfect picture that you want, also GT5P has an adjustable gamma option in the menu.

Calibrate disks are not holy grails, works ok for movies(if you like the look) but for videogames and specially GT always give a dark and lifeless picture also some tvs look more vibrant than others, Sony Bravias looks specially good with PS3 games.
