but how to auto b spec grind? Can you just tape down the enter button on the key board as you would with the a spec grinding and let it keep restarting the race the same way?
It's practically impossible to auto-grind B-Spec without custom hardware or at least a rapidfire controller. there are threads that talk about both in the B-Spec subforum.
Not really, because at the point where your drivers screen comes up, you have to push the "O" or back button.
You can also press the [down] arrow on a keyboard - this is actually better because you don't cancel out of your race. The problem is that you need to have a keyboard doing 2 auto commands at once: [ENTER] and [DOWN], but a single keyboard can only do 1 at a time and the PS3 won't recognize more than 1 USB keyboard at a time.

It's OK! RBGing still works post patch!

No changes to the way it's done, but there are a couple of other changes:

Credit payout has been reduced, I use the Like the Wind Races (Quicker credits!) and used to get 86,000cr a race now I get 70,000cr a race.

XP has been increased, I used to get about 7000XP, I now get over 14,000XP so progression up the levels will be a lot quicker while winnings will be reduced only a little bit!!!

I woke up one morning and had progressed from mid- 34 to mid-35 in a matter of like 8 or 9 hours. I couldn't believe it, I'd been rubberbanding for AGES to open up the LeMans 24HR endurance race.

It's just a pity that they've taken away all the credits. Good thing I've already purchased the 20Mcr. cars.

Ok guys I've searched and I can't find a straight answer on this. I get the a spec auto grinding by using a usb keyboard and rubber bands, but how to auto b spec grind?

We got an answer to that back here on page 11
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=4817291#post4817291

I'm up to the endurance races, so for me, B Spec grinding is just 'playing B Spec'

(I'm making a million an hour at A Spec rubber band driving! 👍)

OK thanks for all the replies everyone. Looks like you have to have that usb device to auto grind b spec like I'm talking about. Guess I'll just stick to doing a 9hr while I'm sleeping and a 4hr every now and then the next morning. Hopefully I'll get to 40 before to long.

I went and picked up a keyboard today. I already have the small PS3 one that fits on your controller, but the buttons are so small and hard to press down taping it down wouldn't work. I got my a spec auto grind working good now. It took me 2 races to figure out how much to the right I had to band the left stick over. It's not very much at all. At first I was scrubbing way to much speed off. Now I do 180-190 in the corners and 260 at the end of the straight and that does 42.1-42.3 laps to win pretty easily. It makes me laugh every time I look at the taped down enter button and the controller with the rubber bands on it hahaha. It's just so simple.

I guess you saw my pic? I use a small spring loaded clamp. They sell them here in the $1 store. I'm cheap, so I'm glad I didn't have to buy a keyboard to rubber band race. :) Its hard to set it, its small and takes some good force to press. To test your enter key, you can press pause and see if it jumps back to the game. Good test to see if you have it working. Good luck with it.

Here it is, it was WAY back there in the thread:

I have the orange foot turned backwards to make the pressure more focused on just the one button. A small C clamp with "just enough" force might also work. It'd have to be a tiny one.

Jack, actually no I didn't see the pic before. That's a good idea! I though of going to home depot and getting either a small clamp like you or a small c clamp. Honestly though I've been planning on getting a full size keyboard for the ps3 for a while now. Had the small one for a long time and tired of having to press those small buttons lol.

Cameron, when did this new patch come out? Tonight? I know the servers were down earlier when I was gonna play online, but couldn't so I just logged off a started up my a spec grind. Guess that is why. I see no reason why it won't still work, because the game is not gonna know if it's your hands doing the throttle and steering or rubber bands, lol. Only way I see they could stop you would be to make you have to hit another button other than "x" to restart the race.

I managed to get from LV. 36 to 40 with this method, finished yesterday morning and am really glad I didn't have to do it manually. Would have taken many many weeks of pointless grinding. Now at least I can do the Nurb 24hr race and finish the game off. :)

Might of made it so the held down enter button doesnt start the race again... Just want to make sure it works before I update. :)

1.07 running like the wind with X2010 for the past 10 hours, generated about 10 million Cr and brought me from lv31 to lv33 :). Using blu tack to hold down the analogs and enter key. Works like a dream especially in view of the new limitations on car gifting.

How, if at all, has this affected the controllers you guys use for this? I know most controllers are built for a lot of abuse, but I can't imagine making the sticks sit in one position for days on end will be good for them.

^I'm not too worried, since I only play GT5, and I've got a wheel that does the real work. My left stick seems slightly looser than my right, but I bought it used, so not sure if that was before or after the 24/7 grinding.

Gotta love the Gran Turismo website. My log keeps me lets me know if he's spun out, or if my keyboard has goofed somehow (been getting this a lot lately).

How I spend my day at work:

considering how much grinding this has saved me it's well worth the potential $40 replacement. my time is limited and valuable.

This method does not abuse the controller at all! Actually driving the X1 will put more stress on a controller. :sly:

Well I've been doing this for the past 6 or 7 hours and it's gotten me from halfway through 25 up to halfway through 29. I can't imagine how long it's going to take to get from 30 to 40.

Any one else noticing a high amount of G forces in the corners now? I use to run 43 second laps, now its down to 47. In the corners the X1 will get down to 140 miles an hour.

Ooops, make sure you SRF and active steering is off.

Earning 32,344,437 XP to get through Level 30 to Level 40 would require approximately 1004 races in the 10 lap race at Indy in the Dream Car Championship, assuming that the XP reward stays at the current 32223 XP per race.

Say you average about 7'45" per 10 lap race, and unless I did something wrong here, I believe that this adds up to about 129.7 hours to complete the 1004 races required to earn all of the experience points needed to increase your level from 30 to 40. Quite a few hours, huh? The A-Spec auto grind method should come in handy I would think.

The stupidest thing about all of this is that you are only able to enter the Nurburgring 24 Hour Endurance once you reach Level 40 in A-Spec. If you manage to complete and win that race, I have heard that you earn over 9,000,000 XP, that simply go to waste. This race should have been made available at about Level 38 in both A-Spec and B-Spec.

Actually it's not all that bad until you get up to 35. I was only a 1/4 way into 30 and in 2 nights of auto grind I got halfway through 35. Now after getting halfway through 35 it took me one whole night just to get barely inside of 36. Like only 4k exp. into 36. So after you hit 35 is when it takes awhile same thing for b spec.

I do the like the wind indy 5 lap races because it pays out more money because of doing 2 races in the same time as 1, but only about 4k less exp all together. It's 70k credits and 14k exp. per race and you can do 2 of those races in the time it takes to do 1 10 lap dream car indy. Plus I get 2 1000 tickets every night.

Haha. It just shows you how bad the A-Spec is.

Hopefully PD will see this and ashame themselves, so they will fix it for GT6, or patch/DLC for GT5.

It's a disgrace that PD have designed the game like that. Looking at pictures of controller and keyboard setups made me laugh because it just shows how terrible the game really is. Flawed design.

I would absolutely love to see Kaz's face when he see this thread. :D

Yeah, I've left my PS3 on for the past day and a half and I've gone from halfway through 25 to about halfway through 34. When I hit 35, I'll let it take a break and then I guess I'll have to leave it on for a few days to get the final stint done.

Then it's on to leveling up my B-Spec guys. Oh man, that's gonna be even worse.

129.7 hr is like 5.4 days. Imagine getting to level 40 in that time. Better than having to earn it IMHO. :) I guess the PS3 can take the stress. Its just what it does normally, only 24 h a day. :scared:
