Gonna try this soon with a USB keyboard. 0I don't feel comfortable letting the PS3 run days on end. Maybe 12 hours at most then I'd let it chill for a few hours to fully cool. And back up my game. :)

Pathetic!

I am sure the brains behind the "Real Driving Simulator" spent countless sleepless nights for the past 6 years diligently writing code, traveling the world to get real time telemetry and images of numerous tracks and automobiles just to make sure they released a game that requires you to Rube Goldberg your joystick with rubber bands, tape and broken plastic forks, and jam your enter key on your USB keyboard, then walk away, hoping not to fry your PS3, in order to "earn" your nice collection of cars and up your "skill...?...what skill is that?" level... Nice job PolyDigital Phonies. I say if that is the best way to "up your credits and skill level.... Well then, up yours!"

Just ordered Shift 2 with "Day of Release" delivery from Amazon. CANNOT WAIT. Until then, F1 2010 is in the PS3. Bye Bye GT (Got Taken)5 and your limited content, further limited by no meaningful trading, and incessant grinding to collect anything of value. Boy, waited six years for three months of a buggy, patched and re patched playing that kept being more and more limited while no fixes for real problems were addressed. What a severe and deep seeded disappointment. I wont be back for GT6, you are not the only, and certainly not the best, game in town any longer.....

Your PS3 will be fine. I've had mine on for essentially 2 days straight and it's still going strong. Just keep it in a well ventilated area (as you should be doing already) and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Tried this with a wireless keyboard first, and that turned off automatically after 5 minutes...
Tried it with a USB keyboard and it seems to work. Until I hit another car, spun out, faced the wall and stayed there for 18 minutes.
Good thing I decided to check it...

PD could patch this in a flash. Just takes some code that says 'after x amount of time in contact with the wall, game over'...

They patched SS7. Time to fix this, too.

What for? All they've done is show how poor and unchallenging the A-Spec game is. The rubberband grind has provided us all with a way to actually enjoy the game where it's good...............Online.

Thanks to this way of grinding out the credits and XP I'm now at level 40, I Have 830 Cars and am planning to carry on until I have every car in the game and have tuned every car that I want or think will be fun to use online.

I'm a married man with 2 kids, a full time 40 hour a week job and am also at University 2 days a week and need to spend an extra 20 hours a week on my studies.

Playing GT5 online with my friends is a great way to relax in my limited downtime and without this Rubberbanding technique I would never stand a chance of ever experiencing many of the actually quite good features this game has.

I've paid my £40 and will use it as I can to get the most I can for my money. If you don't like it, or don't agree with it don't do it. If you've got the time and patience to dedicate to playing through the labourious non-game that is A-Spec then lucky you, but there's a real world out there and I like being a part of it. So I'm happy that I am now able to carry on enjoying the real world while a couple of rubberbands, a keyboard and strategically placed clothes peg, can ensure that when I fancy entering the virtual world for a little fun I don't have to be restricted or penalised for making a contribution to the world.

I don't have an X2010 yet, but would still like to do this method. I read in an early post that the FGT may be able to be used as well. I'd like to confirm that the FGT can also do this. Will it still win the races, but slower. Or does it finish back in the pack?

You can use the FGT, but it won't win the races. It'll still earn you credits but expect it to achieve 5th-7th places. Still not bad as you can get on with life while you stack up the free creds and XP

This is an awesome thread. I used zip ties to set the controller up just right. Problem is, it's not consistent. First day it ran something like 12hrs perfectly with no snags. 2nd day without changing the controller from day 1, it was nose first into a wall for 3hrs after the first 20 races. Then I set it up so that it hit 260mph on the straight but that only lasted 4hrs before the nose into the wall. Today I got it to run another 7hrs before spinning out and then the keyboard no longer skipped the screens.

Yeah you have to be careful, it's not about how you set up the car it's about the grid you are given to race against. And how your car gets through the pack at the start.

I've found that whenever my Car starts behind the Mazda 787B with the Toyota7 in pole, my car will always bump it up to turn 1 and be held back a little by the Mazda.

This is perfect as when you enter turn 1all the cars ahead sweep left to take the racing line and leave lots of lovely empty space to allow you to pass them all up to second place by turn 2, then going up the back straight the Toyota always seems to leave just enough room to alow my X1 to slide down the wall and pass well before turn 3. In that order I can and have now left my car going for 18hours with no mishaps and gone from 0Cr - 20Mill Cr without lifting a finger.

If your X1 gets held by another car and dragged down towards the apron or occaisionally gets forced into overtaking a car by going around the low side before returning to the wall then it's an absolute certainty that at some point your car will end up stuck, nose into the wall.

It's a case of having to check your car out before leaving it, and exiting/re-starting until you hit the perfect grind....this may take about 10 mins of your time but it's well worth it.

Doesn't really answer my question, it only say that it holds X button, it doesn't say if it skips the xp and cr and starts the race again. I can't try it now because my dad is on the TV :grumpy:

You need a turbo controller or a keyboard for what you want to do.

Make sure you are oil changing, make sure the correct driving aids are on (from first post). Go for a more conservative lap time. I found trying to run 42 sec laps put me at a higher risk for getting knocked off course. I kept it running 44-46 sec laps with no problems. Hope this helps.:)

Don't know if someone already posted this,

The "Like the wind" is slightly better for money: 140K in just under 8 minutes (2 x 5 laps), vs 86.6k in 7.5 minutes on "Dream car". I'm making over 1 million per hour and over 25 million per 24 hrs of running.

The EXP is worse but at some point you will reach level 40 but still need to grind for money - so overall i think its a better option.

Also like the wind is more consistent because there is no risk of spinning out when overtaking the very slow backmarkers - race finishes before coming up behind any slow cars

I'm down to 13 Mil :scared::nervous: so I"ll try this out, thanks for the info.

Yep I mentioned it on page 11, although the numbers have changed since the patch

This is awesome!

I've changed the plan slightly and have gone for the 'Like The Wind' Series Indy race.

I'm bagging 84,000cr every race but the races are 5 laps long so I win a race every 4 mins (Including next race load time) which means I'm now getting 1,260,000cr every hour.

Thanks OP!

My setup: 2 rubber bands and an Apple USB keyboard with a small clamp on enter.

I do an oil change once per day. How often are you guys rebuilding the engine on the X2010, or are you having to?

There is no way I would have bought the 330 P4 or the XJ13 or the Ford Mark IV after the amount of grinding you'd have to do to get to 20MM credits. This makes all 3 of them attainable. I've already been working on mastering the Ferrari and the Jag in the Historic Cup races! I'll pick up the Ford tonight!

Rather than bore myself to death trying to raise cash to buy these cars, I can have a blast driving them. This game is so much more fun when you don't have to grind all day in a boring circle by yourself!

I rebuilt the engine and chassis after 100,000 miles. But I don't know if it even helped?

Thanks for your tip Masiv! I can make right around 1Mil/hr while I sleep, haha. Back up to 20 mil. just like that.
