True, so no big deal.

But I'm wondering if they are going to remake the RT/10 roadster. Because if look at how the GTS coupe's B and C pillars, the guys at Dodge can really pull off a reincarnation of the roadster of the first two gens.

Hmmm..... SRT RT/10 Roadster. Sound too good to be true, but who knows.

Now that I've gotten used to the headlights, another thing has started to bug me.

From that picture, I think it would look better if the 'vents', if that's what they're called, on the front bumper weren't there. I mean those two air intake looking vents beside the grille. The back end looks so smooth while the front seems too crowded with vents and intakes.

Still an awesome car though. That black GTS!

They reduce drag, and they take the place of the original fog lights. I never considered their removal as the Viper has always had something there.

Wow, I jut noticed that too...why no fog lights?

For that reason; to reduce drag. The headlamps probably house everything the manufacturer thinks the consumer will need anyway.

A little road driving

A little track

A little history

And a little bit of fun (too much music for my liking as well)

The most amazing thing about this car is that it makes the previous generations, legends in their own right, look dated and dull in comparison.

The original to me still looks fantastic. The new one looks pretty decent - definitely better than the previous gen which was indeed quite dull. The original is still gorgeously curvy...I don't see the "dull and dated" at all. Obviously any car designed over 20 years ago is not going to usually look completely modern. But it is still a great looking car.

Gorgeous pic!!! :)👍

I like the new Viper, but I don't love it... In counterpart, I don't like the early gen. Vipers... I love them

I always thought the original viper looked ugly as hell.

That is extremely surprising. Hopefully this won't be the last comparison though. Remember, it's only one data point.

I also do believe it was a mistake going with the Pirelli's. Michelins are probably better. But now the Viper won't get Michelins designed specifically for it.

so disappointed on the gen v viper damn car cant even beat the outgoing zr1 corvette

i have officially lost all hope on the gen v viper. The one thing that i wanted this car to do is beat the vette and it cant even do that 👎

so much for future battles with the C7  the damn thing cant even beat the C6

As Exorcet says... it's just one data point. We don't know how well dialed in either car was on the day, nor the condition of the brakes or the tires.

Funny the trash talking in the comments section, where people complain about this and that. The data boxes and article clearly state this Viper came on the P Zero Corsa tires. Maybe the track variant would have given the Viper better braking, but the flavor text indicates the Vette got through faster because it felt more stable at speed... which indicates that the ZR1's magnetorheological ride played at least as big a role in this as the better brakes did. I'm also betting the beefier lower-end power of the supercharged motor, while it doesn't show on the dragstrip, would have had an effect on the track, too.

It's apples to oranges, really. Both really extreme "road" cars, and perhaps on another day, with the Viper in track pack get-up and with slightly better brakes, it might win.

Whats surprising is that MT didnt mention the settings of the Traction/Stability Control system like first drives that were done on the Viper. They didnt say whether it was tested with it On or in Track mode Or fully Off since its a GTS which has the option to turn it completely off.

Base Viper that lost to a Top trim Vette whom on top of that, the driver wasnt really that great........

I would think that it would be impressive that the first version of the new Viper would be so competitive with the top of the line version of the outgoing Corvette, since the old Viper (ACR excluded) was more at home competing with the Z06 than the ZR1.

viper vs vette debate happens every-time. truth is they both are terrible cars unpractical over sized, over powered cars, no balance. only thing good bout them is they look good and have high resale lets just settle that there are better cars and there are worse cars soon these v8/v10 won't be made any more. they are dinosaurs from past decades.

v6 turbo vette will be next can make less power than the v8 with less weight same speed.
as for viper im very surprised its still around should have disappeared long ago. imo

So, do you think any cars are good?

A Smart or maybe a Fiat 500 by the sounds of it. The latter could be too powerful though.
