2019 Silverado.

Thank you GM for reminding me why I am a Ford guy.

I understand that's the trailboss model but the lineup as a whole will be very similar.

Yuck.

It seems like it has been designed to have massive wheels and tyres. It looks ridiculous in those pictures. And that front. So sad.

That's the Z71 Trail Boss off road package, so hence the look. Regular versions will be lower the ground and have smaller tires for sure.

Most likely the base 4.3 will come with 17" wheels with a 245/65 tire. The rest will more than likely be equipped with 20" wheels and a 265/65 or 265/70 tire.

Why have a facelift every 2-3 years? Why only facelift the pickup trucks and not the suv?

It's a complete redesign of the truck. The facelift already happened. The Equinox and Traverse also are brand new for the 2018 Model year and the Tahoe/Suburban just had a redesign for 2015 and the Trax got a facelift in...2017?

Also, the Silverado greatly reminds me of a ram and I don't like it.

I just hate the fact that the push for fuel efficiency made pretty much all the trucks look like ass. That looks like ass, the Fords look like ass, and the Ram is (to me) tolerable but still looks like ass. The Colorado looks way better than that Silverado does.

I think he was specifically talking about the Tahoe/Suburban (which is a sibling to the Silverado) which is usually updated every 6 to 8 years.

The Colorado is still ugly.

And real world data based on what I see come in the shop say MPG's haven't really improved in the last 15 years. New Super Duties still get 8-10mpg on average. Ecoboost trucks average 12-13. 5.3 equipped Silverados might see 15. Rams with the 5.7 I have seen bests of 19-21 highway.

In reality yes they make more power than the old times and may be aero dynanic, but until they can significantly reduce weight without reducing structural integrity of a truck, the only reason they get slightly better than a 90s equivalant model is because they have at minimum 2 more gears available in the transmission. It is not unheard of gearing about a 5 speed truck of the 90s getting 20mpg.

My worn out 7.3 gets 20-23, As far as we know there was nothing added for power, so my almost drinking age brick truck still gets better mileage than almost everything on the market.

Also, 🤬 you GM for bringing the inevitable. There won't be a full size truck for sale I'd want to be seen in. Not that I can afford it anyway, non-fleet base will likely start around 25-30k, then jump 5k when you add on basic stuff.

I'm not looking forward to the eventual replacement vehicle shopping.

With the facelift in 2015, I'd honestly expect a redesign of those kind of trucks for the 2020 MY and I think it'll probably start with the Escalade/Escalade EXT and trickle down from there. I say that mostly because of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator. I could absolutely be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time I'd be wrong

Cylinder deactivation also helps achieve bare minimum fuel economy. At least on the Silverados it does. I can't speak for the Fords because I honestly don't know anything about the new ones..

Rendering of what the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali, the more upmarket Silverado, could look like.

And the only reason it does that does is because it's a deisel. For sake of comparison I kept it all gas jobs.

I don't know what their going to do when it comes time to really hammer down on fuel economy. They aren't and do not get anywhere close to what they are supposed to be capable of.

Looks like an F-series...and yet...not vomit inducing.

I get that, but the only diesel I've heard that gets close is the eco-diesel Ram, and that was a handful of people off the cuff.

As for what, I imagine they'll lie and cheat for as long as they can and hope they can pay enough politicians to loosen the regulations, because I don't see them actually trying to fix anything.

I'll reserve judgment until I see regular-cab pictures...

....regular-cab trucks are still things, right? Or is it all crewcab all the time?

They still exist, granted I’m guessing their time as non-work trucks is approaching the end.

That truck looks like the front bumper is missing. Good for chevy fans with their front teeth missing.
